- Hi. In this video I demonstrate how to cross stitch using paper as your background. Cross stitching is usually done on a type of fabric that has a grid woven right into in, but since paper doesn't have such a grid, the first part of the video demonstrates two different ways of giving yourself one.

What kind of screwdriver did you use to poke the holes in the paper?
Hi. It's an awl, a tool especially meant to make holes in things like leather. I got mine at the sewing store.
