Your's is the best review on this lens mate! Thank you. I use this lens as a stepping stone... plan on getting the Q and realized on my fujis this is about the same focal length. So if I do love it enough (love wide angle, wide open for environmental portraits etc) I feel confident for the Q next.
@@geedee3817 thanks so much for tuning in! Appreciate the kind feedback too! Btw do use the affiliate links in my description down below if you’d like to get anything 😊
I have the excellent Fujifilm 16mm f/1.4, but I bought this lens to be able to shoot old school zone and hyper focus settings. The comprehensive DOF scale allows for nice zones at moderate apertures for quick hip shots on the street. A zone focused lens can beat autofocus because you don't have to assure the focus point is on the correct part of the frame. No regrets on this purchase.
That’s nice man! Btw i am currently having the new 18mm 1.4 and 33mm 1.4 for reviewing, I can’t wait to try those lenses and complete my review on them both👍😊
hows the BOKEH between the 2. I have the 16mm as well. I like that it focus very close. Though I feel like this manual lenses can render better bokeh. let me know. Thanks...
The focal length, the bokeh, the minimum focus distance... I'm definitely sold. Once again your image samples a plenty are excellent. I wasn't expecting the bokeh to be this good. Great job. Nice speaking voice too.
I love this lens for street snapshots. Paired with my Mitakon 35mm, these two really make for a fun manual photography duo. I wish the Mitakon had the TTArtisan's clicked aperture ring! I have a weird hood on mine which looks like a radio dish. It lets me attach a normal sized lens cap and filters. 😂
Hmmm I would have to give it ago for street, however I do admit I find the long focus throw quite challenging for quick rum and gun type street shoots 😅
@@enshongmiranda wish I was good at that, I guess my problem is , at times I’m too much of a bokeh junkie that I want great background separation and because of that sometimes it’s harder to zone focus , as it’s even more razor thin depth once u want that sort of thin depth and background separation especially when u don’t really plan a shot properly hehe
Yup, I’ve always wanted something a little more wide that’s good value and has great bokeh too , good call tht I asked them could I have this instead to review, cos if not they offered me to review the 35 1.4 at first, but I have plenty of 35’s already and it wouldn’t add much value to me anymore 😆👍
I am going to order this lens on Pay Day. Will use it with my Olympus Pen F which has horrible AF anyway so might as well go manual. On this camera 17mm is very close to a FF 35mm focal length equivalency. Love this little camera just doesn’t have usable AF.
Hi, I currently have a Pen-F and Sigma 30mm 1,4 and am very happy but unfortunately too big. I am interested in a bright compact lens mainly for street photography and I am undecided between the two TTartisan lenses 23mm 1,4 (plus compactness) and the 17mm (plus focal but less compact) what do you recommend? I would have doubts about their sharpness, to be picky, the potential that the two lenses have in post-production both with open and closed aperture.
My copy arrives next week, do you think a lens hood would benefit on this lens, reduce flare, add some contrast? Thanks for the video review, cheers from Canada.
Thanks so much , and glad you enjoyed the review , the model the AP watch is the AP millenary series , it has dual time, a date and power reserve indicator 😊
Quippy this lens is $50 off on sale, would u still recommend it? Do you use this lens, or do you use other lenses instead 😮I’m curious because I don’t know what to expect but today is the last day of the sale 😂❤ thanks brother !
Well currently the lens is in the dry box and I hardly ever use it simply because I have tons of lenses at home, and because the lens is a manual lens so I tend to enjoy using my other AF lenses when I want to be quick while run and gunning
@@QippysChannel hmm You’re smart because the lenses that we don’t use are the ones that aren’t convenient I’m glad I talked to you first because I do prefer auto focus honestly but there is a 35mm I want to try that’s on sale which I’m excited to try a new focal length so we’ll see ! Hi Qippy! I just bought a new Canon M6 Mark ii and I'm starting to pick up eos-M lenses. Do you think the 17mm or the 23mm would be better for making vlogging videos? Great job on the video!
Cheers Sly, i think this lens is great but for clogging I would always spend a little and get an AF lens as it’s very hard to do vlogging and focusing manually at the same time 😊
Hello. I’m shooting a documentary using a Panasonic AG AF100 because it fit my meager budget and has a M4/3 mount that allows me to use a variety of lenses for creativity. But I was taken by surprise when I went looking for the inexpensive camera lenses I could use finding the huge jump in prices over the last decade. So seeing as you aren’t beholden to a co what 15mm m4/3 lens would you suggest on a tight (very tight) budget? I’m looking for a nice bokeh although the af100 already has a good sdof. Any help in direction would be appreciated. Thanks
Hmmmm..I'm my humble opinion I really think that this particular lens is really on the affordable side as some of the Panasonic lenses etc are slightly higher in. price, might be also a good idea to check out some stuff by 7Artisans ..

A 17mm not easy to use for street photography? Set it to f/4, prefocus at 3m and everything will be pretty much in focus all the time.
