For some 7 to 10 bucks more, it's wisely to order this Lens with its matching, square metal lens hood (43mm filterthread) via Aliexpress. Bought my Lens some weeks ago, should arrive mid January next year.
@@QippysChannel Was gonna follow another commenter's lead and get it on Ali with a hood. But...your link goes to a Pani version I think: if one clicks from their to the Fuji X version does your affiliate credit "travel" to that other page?
Thanks so much, yeah it should do, as once u go in the amazon link it will still be affiliated as long as u followed through from the link if I am not mistaken 😊, cos I even had someone buying groceries once listed as purchases 😆
@@QippysChannel All right, done deal. Hopefully it'll credit you. Gonna be interesting to see how this compares to my fave manual 24mm, an H.ZUIKO 2.8. Main reason I was even shopping for a manual 23 is so I can just leave the Oly-FujiX adapter on my Zuiko 28mm or 35mm... Oh, and please don't tell the other 3 dudes whose excellent ttartisans 23mm f1.4 vids I watched before yours that you got my nickel.... :)
i would consider long focus throw an advantage with manual focus lenses as it provides you with the tactile space needed to dial in accurate focus, especially when shooting wide open. but then again, i don't do video so the focus pull aspect isn't important to me.
Yeah I know how the long focus throw is always a desirable thing especially for video shooters to nail critical focus, but for me I don’t find I work well with it, especially when I do more photos and run and gun stuff with one hand on the lens and the other on the camera grip, hehe, there are times I want it to focus just a little quicker, but that’s not to say I don’t like longer focus throws at all but I would have preferred if it wasn’t as long as it is, maybe half the rotation they’ve made it to be would have been a little better for my style of shooting I guess 😊
I would say long focus throws are good for lenses you intend to use in controlled environment. When using it on the go and in run&gun situations, the long focus throw can hold you back. Atleast for me personally, cuz I never have enough focus throw between 1m and 10m and waay to much from .25 to 1.0m. this makes it harder to shoot outside
Yup it’s a wonderful lens I guess for even street, just that I found the focus rack a little long for quick run and gun kinda street, perhaps the more taking your time kinda of street style of shooting would suit it better and also if you are good at zone focusing 👍
Which body did you use for the sample still shots? I'm interested in getting this for my XS-10 (crop) but wondering if you used one of the fullframes listed in your kit list to achieve the look in these shots, which look amazing btw! Thanks
Thanks so much and really appreciate that iu found my sharing of personal experiences more valuable than charts etc, although for me i do feel that there is a time and a place for that type of reviews too for super critical applications that require that level of meticulous detail to be conveyed 😊
Dilemma.. get this lens or the equivalent prime pancake of the brand with AF (less bright but optically sharper) but i like the images, the character and the blurry back of this manual lens more...
Well if you don’t have the budget for the more expensive one yet then grab this one first and then get that when you can, links are all down below if you’d like to grab one 😆
I think the TT artisan for me, because of it’s more solidly built between the two, however the 7artisans has an interesting close focusing distance that gives it a slight macro wide angle capability, so it really depends on what you really are looking for 😊
How much barrel distorsion? The great and sharp TTArtisan 25mm f/2.0 is almost useless because of its barrel distorsion if you want to shoot SOOC (straight out of camera) with no editing /photoshopping..
It's perfect for any Fuji X-E Series user, with focus peaking focusing is a breeze. And also great, if you can't or don't want to shell out some $$$ for the Fujinon 23/1.4 R AF lens.
Yup I have to agree l, if you cam live with no AF this is a superb option in my opinion, another good lens in my opinion however a little less solid build quality would be the 7artisan 25 1.8
Focus peaking is an option you can switch on your camera, where you can view areas where the camera has focus, usually it’s highlighted in the screen with a colour (typically red) but can be customised by the photographer/videographer , do check some online videos to see further details
