This lens was for me! I’ve had it for a few months. I felt inadequate for not having a faster than f/2.0 lens in my kit. The new 23 mm Fujifilm f/1.4 WR lens is perfect for me, but I can’t afford it. I know this lens has its flaws from detailed reviews, but they really don’t cause any concerns so far. It does so many things well. It’s easy to focus, I get sharp images and I love the close focusing. It actually feels like a premium manual focus lens. I have the silver version. It’s beautiful on my silver X-T3, like a vintage SLR. I learned about the sports finder mode from you. With this lens I get the 29mm equivalent in sports finder mode which is very useful. It takes care of my need to get the 27mm f/2.8, for now, all for $98!

Thank you! Indeed this lens it's becoming a 40mm field of view with super MFD, f1.4 and excellent manual focusing system. In sports finder mode you get rid of the field curvature too. Tiny, good looking and very versatile manual focusing lens ;)

That is a gorgeous lens. The slight softness in the corners would not bother me at all.
I would shoot this lens on the street at night, use a high contrast black and white film recipe, follow a little rule of thirds to keep my highlights near the center of my compositions and Voila!
    Atmosphere!

Thank you for this review. I've been looking for a value lens for taking shots of the family and friends indoors, and for my purposes you have addressed my concerns. For an indoors and documentary and hobbyist photographer, this looks like the goods! I have a Fuji XF 23mm f2, which is also very good indoors but this is faster. I like your reviews!

You are absolutely correct Tudor about the focusing of that lens, it is abnormally sublime. They totally nailed it. I have an X Pro3 and have experimented with a few lenses, including Fuji's XF 23mm f1.4 lens and also the 7Artisans 35 1.4 mk ii and in the end, this is the one I ended up keeping. The Fuji is of course optically more perfect, but it is big and the AF is a bit noisy and dated. The 7Artisans was a lot harder to nail focus with (but performed quite well when you did). That TTArtisan lens is the one that I find most intuitive and pleasing to use. There are some optical imperfections you need to watch for depending on your subject, relates to field curvature I think and the very corners are quite soft, but for street photography and especially street photography at night, that lens is quite a surprise for the little it costs. It also produces good sun stars if you stop down a bit. I still have other lenses for the Fuji, but I find myself taking roughly 8 out of 10 shots with that one. Who could imagine?

This lens is quite nice on my Pen-F in terms of performance and looks. It's hard to choose between the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 and TTArtisans 23mm f/1.4 at times, partly due to the different kinds of framing each lens has. Thanks for sharing your enthusiastic experience with the TTArtisans lens.

This is my worst performing but also the best looking ttartisan lens that i have. The 35 and 50 performance blows this away but it sure looks sexy on my xpro

How is this lens compared to the Voigtländer 27mm F2 as far as 3D Pop is concerned? Thanks.

    0.2cm is 2mm focusing distance. ;) He meant 0.2m or 20cm.

it wasn’t for me. i sold it after 2 months. it was too soft even stopped down and the fringing was very noticeable. it produced nice images but it felt too “stylized” imo.

I've been waiting for the Voightlander 23mm f/1.2 to hit Amazon, which it just did. But it is 700 dollars.
Your review here has me thinking. The TTARTISAN might be perfect on my X-E2s... old sensor, less than perfect lens.
    Decisions, decisions.

Yes, Voigtlander it's pretty expensive for what it's offering...

      The voigtlander is soft.

    • @Zlaja192

The Voigtlander is useless. Forget about it, its extreme field curvature makes it unusable. Only your focus point is sharp, all the rest is soft mud.
I was shocked when I tried 2 copies and cant understand how Cosina is not ashamed to launch such a lens and charge money for it
