This is the second best looking lens I’ve ever seen. Only second to the Meike version which has a nicer focus ring imo. I think it looks stunning. Not that that is super important, but I just keep looking at it.
Haha, it is important at times, because how a lens or even a camera for that matter makes you feel will determine how you interact with it positively, and that may in tern cause you to take better pictures too in my opinion😊
I have the 7Artisans 35mm f0.95 and in my opinion, based on your honest review, the 7Artisans 50mm f0.95 is more of the same, including the easy to move declicked aperture. Plus on my copy, the focus ring is also too easy to move. I bought my lens used in a late night GAS attack and now definitely have buyers remorse.
Hehe, so sorry to hear about your GAS, I have plenty hehe, but after a while I still get attached to them and I learn to use them with all their setbacks, but if I really don’t then I tend to sell them off and get something I really like 😊
Hi Qippy; Thanks for an interesting oveview. 04:35 To what are you referring when you reference "Olympus vintage glass"? PEN half frame? In trying to determine whether the 7Artisans might be a useful addition to my kit, I dug out my OM 50 f/1.8 to check how it performed. I attached it with a Fotga adapter and was shocked how well it performed wide open on my E-M5. No "glow". Of course it is almost two stops slower.
Seems like a fair review. I have a Minolta MC Rokkor PG 50mm f1.4 that I love for some of the same characteristics this seems to display. It's soft and glowy at 1.4, but stop it down to mid apertures and it's gorgeous. Like you say, if you're after the soft glow and BOKEH! this seems like a good choice. I get the impression it is sharper in the center wide open than the TTArtisans version. Do you know if that is the case?
Thanks so much, I’m not sure because I have never tried that lens before, however i think it is possible as I do find some other lenses I use from TTArtisan that can sometimes be the case
Oh yes most definitely, it would, however with this lens I found that I need to get it more in the right conditions then I could notice it more , if not generally it isn’t that obvious
Tried one and found the distortion unacceptable. I swapped it for another new one and it was the same. Its like they never tested them where they were made.
By any chance do you suffer a really noticeable purple haze over the image when wide open on your 7Artisans 50mm f0.95? I get it quite a bit when shooting wide open, especially shooting outside in the daylight.
Well the good thing is that when u shoot wide open and the depth of field of everything else is so shallow it can give that illusion that it’s very crisp 😆
Hi I just accidentally dropped my 7artisans 50mm f0.95 lens (dropped the lens to the shopping mall ground/floor) and leaving one scratch mark & faded coating. And the lens glass still normal (didn't break) and the video & photo results also seems normal. But when I shook the lens body, I heard some shaking sound/noise, is it ok?
OMG! This lens SUUUUUUCK! There is no excuse, no justification and no eufemism for such a softness in the center of the frame! It is basically useless unless you want to achive killer-hangover of LSD-trip cinematic effect footage. They really need to make mark II just as better as Kamlan did with its 50mm f/1.1 lens. Second revision is great and this 7Artisans need to elevate it to at least 35mm f/0.95 level.
These Chinese lenses are all garbage.. bottom line. They get all get acceptable but the time you are around F5.6 to F8 and by then, what's the freaking point??? If you never bought one of those, don't. If you already have one, just shoot black & white at least you'll save yourself from 50% of the misery.
I guess like I said these lenses have flaws. Sometimes more then others and u need to dive into it with that in mind. For me they still do have relevance if you can put up with all it's limitations to achieve a specific look. But I guess it's not for everyone :)
So a year later I get notified from RUclips of your notification of this video. Cheers!
Haha really, that’s amazing, thanks so much for tuning in 😊
Terrific image samples and the real time bokeh test is impressive. Good job.
Thanks so much glad you loved it 😊
Excellent video 😊!
Thank you 😊😊

Thanks so much I was referring to this vintage lens I reviewed by olympus 😊ruclips.net/video/DL8ZxcbVaHU/видео.htmlsi=HyxE8nqCLpQOgoqd

Great review sir! I may opt to buy another type of lens.

I need this
Do you think that a helios lens would have a better chance of getting "swirly bokeh" in the right conditions?
Oh yes most definitely, it would, however with this lens I found that I need to get it more in the right conditions then I could notice it more , if not generally it isn’t that obvious
@@QippysChannel but the helios still has more "swirl"? Or do both create a similar amount? Roughly guessing
Based on pictures and videos I have seen it seems helios definitely produces more , but best u observe it for yourself if u can find stuff online 👍
what do you think when compared to Kamlan 50 f1.1mk2. Kamlan looks a bit sharper in my opinion.
Hmmm wish I could say, however I haven’t personally tried the Kamlan so I couldn’t give you a fair judgement , so sorry about tht 😅
What's your favorite focal length
50mm and 85 and 24 :)
Tried one and found the distortion unacceptable. I swapped it for another new one and it was the same. Its like they never tested them where they were made.
Yeah as mentioned this lens is really not for any critical kind of work, it’s more of a fun artsy kind of application of use I guess 😅
By any chance do you suffer a really noticeable purple haze over the image when wide open on your 7Artisans 50mm f0.95? I get it quite a bit when shooting wide open, especially shooting outside in the daylight.
I think so I did perhaps, I can’t fully remember as I have returned the lens , but do remember the lens being super hazy and soft wide open 😅
Can you tell me the ND filter size of this lens please?
It has a filter thread of 62mm :)
So which is better 7artisans or ttartisans 50mm 0.96?
Can’t really say for sure cos I have only tried the 7 😆
@@QippysChannel but its seems very crisp, i guess two lenses are the same, only different bodies

Hmmmm, i think if there any ‘sound/noise’ I would get it checked in proper shop or service center just to be on the safe side of things 😅
@@QippysChannel can you please try to check yours? Try to shake it & do you hear any sounds?
YO WAIT your're in malaysia?? Cool
Yup! It’s home for me 😊
7:42 whoa hahha
Hahahah 😆
