Just stumbled upon this review and I gotta say, I'm impressed - the production quality is amazing and while you still get a lot of information, it also feels like you're authentically telling me about your experience an enthusiasm about this lens. Thit not only gave me a isnight of who this lens is for, it also was very enjoyable content, keep it up! :)
It's a really great option. The TTArtisan 50mm f0.95 seems from reviews to be as sharp and contrasty as the Leica. But then it's a lot more expensive than this and much bulkier as a full-frame lens. This gives the option of really narrow depth-of-field on APSC in a small package with a vintage character that's ideal for shooting 'film on digital.'
Hey man, I have watched this review before but am returning to it now that I have the lens with me in need of your advice. It had been on my mind for a bit so I finally bought it but now after like 2 weeks of using it I find it has become sort of loose (the still part with the mount sits firmly but the part from the focus ring to the front of the lens seems to be loose) which makes the focusing of a 0.95 even harder than when it all was working well and to be honest is quite annoying when it's just wobbling there. Did you experience that phenomenon with yours (I have the sony one)? I am considering sending it back because of this and maybe trying a new copy but while for a lens 250$ might not be that much, it is still some money for something that in my opinion lacks some quality if not only mine starts coming apart 2 weeks into the use. It would be a shame since the fun with this lens is amazing but this worries me. Thanks in advance and again, even though I am not necessarily in the search for new gear right now, I gotta tell you I come back to your channel because of the great quality of the videos and the work you are doing. There is also a "zen" element and some friendly and positive energy to the videos I have watched until now which I appreciate! Have a good one Pav! 👊
i recently had a good deal on a brand new 7.5mm 7artisans for just 100€, so i thought i'd give it a try, and yeah i was blown away by the quality of their products, very very good image quality, actually accurate focusing markings, good contrast and colors, and obviously tons of fun with a fisheye lens. So now that they got this one out i'll probably buy it, i was a little afraid seeing their slip on lens cap, but i'm glad to hear that the front is threaded so i can adapt my filters and lens caps!
Just bought this exact lens for my Fuji and I think I got a winner ! Just bought it about a half hour ago and then watched your video. Glad I watched and now am looking forward to it. Thanks for great video and now I've subbed. LarryMac
Love that shot - 7:25 Images are great but color cast or something, either Lens colour correction needed or Cameras shooting cool tones..or? I'd make new dedicated profiles for that lens 1x colour 1x monochrome.
Love your honest review! This is 75/1.5 FF equivalent and I am very excited. The vintage lenses that are similar in FL & DOF are much bigger and heavier - for example, I have a Contax Zeiss 85/1.4 that weighs 600 grams. I will probably order one and see how it compares.
75mm f/1.4 equivalent. Very minor difference, I know. But a 75mm f/1.5 would let in ~90% of the light this lens does (wide open), while a 75mm f/1.4 would let in ~4% more light (again, wide open), so closer to f/1.4 by a little bit. I only mention this because ... I have no life 🥺
@@Keeper_of_nature Equivalent by DOF? Could you explain what you mean please? Total depth of field imaging an object 3m away: 75mm f/1.5 on 35mm sensor - 13.6cm 75mm f/1.4 on 35mm sensor - 12.7cm 50mm f/0.95 on APS-C sensor - 12.8cm So this lens is still closer (assuming a standard APS-C sensor - CF 1.52x) to 75mm f/1.4 FF than to 75mm f/1.5 FF. But depth of field is incredibly dynamic and depends on far more than just the lens and sensor pairing characteristics, so I'm not sure I follow your argument but I don't think I agree with it.
Thanks for the review! Actually it does make a difference with the TTArtisan 50mm 1.2 Specially if you need that little extra less DOF for full body shots. I used to shoot with a 85mm 1.2 for full frame, and somehow, the pictures i've seen with this lens looks similar in some situations. Thank you again!

@@hejakma4682 Actually, I do have a f1.4 lens and that needs stopping to get sharp images (around f2.5-f4 optimal quality)... It would be nice to get a lens that is sharp wide open at f1.4 (under $300 probably impossible). Most lenses need to stop down to get sharp results.
