For absolute Begginers it might be good to have about 20℅ stability control so that they get an overall idea without being overwhelmed. Once have the basic mechanics though, all assists must be off
It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to note, as you did in the previous video, that this method of just letting the wheel countersteer itself does NOT work on gear-driven (cough cough Logitech) simracing wheels. Even with good and correct FFB settings, they do not have the force or responsiveness to countersteer properly as a belt/directdrive/real car and make things this easy. What I've seen, and sorta learned to do myself, is to "chuck" the wheel in the direction of the countersteer on corner entry, to give the wheel mechanism, a _nudge_ in the right direction.
there is a steering technique that is called wheel tracing, you basically do that with the logitech but with a bit more force so it's not that different
idk what to say, there are difference btw g27 and g923, but the g923 have the new procesor and smaller gear ratio, so the so called dead ffb center is removed, about ffb strenght when i set it on 100% i cant hold back the wheel, i dont say, maybe its easier on belt driven wheels...and about drift there are many videos where ppl drifting with no problem with logitech ,specialy the newer versions like g29 and g923 are upgraded instead of g27/25
The best part is the first time it clicks and you can link an entire track, I used a generic skidpad map to learn the basics of control, then started learning on touge maps like akina and Usui pass. I felt like it helped by not having run off areas I could rely on if i messed up so it made me learn to keep tight lines and good throttle control along with weight transfer all at the same time, but everyone is diffferent.
Thanks for the tutorial. I actually put your "step 1" into practice for the first 2 days and on the third I was finally about to catch it and just improved from there. I uploaded a short clip of my 7th day (today) on my RUclips so I could come back and see how much I've improved. Safe to say this video helped me learn to initiate and control my drifts. Thanks again
Dude, it's going to be almost a year now since i started drifting in AC from absolute zero and i swear the basic AC drift track is just perfect. I "graduated" from learning on it a long time ago and mostly drift around online lobbies in wdts cars on other tracks and touges but every now and then i just get back to this track because the layout is just so fun. Also, whenever I'm trying a new car and trying to figure out its behavior or working on a setup the default drift track is always my go to (with ebisu south course sometimes)
this is EXACTLY what I needed. much like a fighting game combo, breaking the drift into chunks like you did here makes it so much more learnable, thanks!
Thanks for this video, fellow balding millennial. I'm only on day 3 of learning to drift but this video helped massively. I'm still very inconsistent but I'm actually managing to hold drifts around corners and even string together some transfers now, it's so much fun! You earned my subscription.
This is really great!! What I needed. Struggling with doing figure eights and transitions. Every time I transition I spin out. Will be trying your tips soon. 🙏🏼🤙🏼
holy crap with your help and other peoples detailed help on pedals and stuff this finally helped me drift. im actually proper getting better after practicing for 2 hours step by step in your hguide
That real drift was pretty gnarly great job bro. 😎 and thanks I’m here from RallyX sims I be honest I’m so focussed on going fast round the track I didn’t realise I’m drifting most the time 😂 or at least correct manoeuvres when Rally cross driving so I thought yeah I should learn on tarmac really hahaha I got the full e brake setup with triple pedals and H shifter sequential etc so thanks you basically confirmed what I know but I needed this demo it was not crappy Sir 😂 signed another millennial.
I couldn't drift and watched a few videos and yours was the clearest explanation I've found. It give me a great start. Thanks very much. One thing I'd like to add though is that I don't think the Kunos drift track is the best for starting. I tried the Nevada drift pad and it has so much space that it is perfect for learning, experimenting and making mistakes. You can get much more speed up on the Nevada track than you can on the Kunos one. Thanks again for your great video.
Day 2 of me drifting (well practicing) lol. Love the challenge! I've been doing it in 3rd person, cockpit and as well as VR. Gonna keep at it til' we get like Janky!
Just watched your practice video and subbed to your channel. It's really counter-intuitive when you're first starting out, but try to focus a little more on letting the steering wheel slide through your hands. Looked like you were trying to fight it a bit or not letting the steering wheel rotate enough on it's own to prevent the rear from coming around. But yeah it's super-rewarding once it starts to click.
I have been using your guide and I am making progress( I still can hold a full corner/turn yet lol) I got my wheel like a week ago and your guide has been so helpful thank you great video🔥🥇
I just got Assetto corsa today, I’m planning on getting a handbrake in the next 2 weeks and I have 7 weeks off school. This is the perfect time for me to start practicing
Nooooooooooooooooooooo wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. I just got into modding the crap out of assetto corsa and in driving around in vr. So funny and awesome to see you on here making videos. Miss hanging out, drinking soda, eating stale pretzels and playing NFS underground.
Ha, small world. You know I'm pretty sure some of the underground tracks have been ported over to Assetto. We'll need to catch up, not sure what part of the world you're in these days but actually just recently moved back up to the northeast. Edit: Found you on Facebook and just sent a message.
I just got my wheel and have been so frustrated. I love the breakdown that you did. Definitely going to give this a try when I get home. Oh yeah kudos to making this video “interesting”. Lol that part made me laugh more than I’d like to admit
Bro this tips and tricks are soo op i bought ac like 2 weeks ago and now i can finally drift after watching you before i always spin out and cat drift this helps a lot me to i hopw your channel grows.
Loving the channel man! Drifting in AC is pretty damn fantastic, especially in VR, I learned how to drive on a grass field in an old RWD pickup truck my Dad bought for £25! (it was a Morris Marina though so thats why it was cheap, plus its hard to sell a car that at any point a piano could fall from the sky and destroy.. Jeremy Clackson is always watching!) at 15 yrs old, so I was always sidways, but never had the chance to try it on tarmac with a decently powered cars with LSD's or anything like that. Nice driving btw, I must get online in AC for some tandem drifting, not done it in too long! Great tips!
Appreciate it! VR definitely worth it if your PC can handle the overhead, I've got one as well and it bumps the immersion up quite significantly. I had to Google to see what a Morris Marina was, shame they have that piano issue. One of my first cars was a front wheel drive toyota that teenage me thought it was a good idea to handbrake drift in the rain. That car evidently had a predisposition for sliding into curbs, or so I hear lol.
@@JankyDrift Haha, yes my first road car was front wheel drive, I used to park it by handbraking it 180Degrees into spaces between parked cars on the side of the road, wore out the handbrake cable some and snapped the front anti roll bar after a month by cornering too hard (or just driving badly lol!). My headset is a Pimax 5K plus, i have to do alot of graphics tinkering to run it with its super wide FOV, on an RTX 2070 (need an upgrade really), but its worth it, absoloutely love having near full human FOV!
This video helped me to link these corners on day 2 I the Gravy Garage beater you suggested in your other video! Thanks so much for this! I’m fired up to learn more!
1 month in, so much improvement but also far from perfection. Linking that middle section in both directions, also using my front brake pretty well where necessary. No handbrake yet, but i'm getting by just fine. Wish there'd be modded maps for console. No kidding on the taking time part, first week was atrocious but it clicked and I get it. Still getting there for longer corners where i'd need a high gear but 2nd in the Supra is a jack of all trades. Side note: glad I got the T300 instead of Logitech, which was my first choice. Feels awesome, feedback is strong and counter steers quick.
Awesome - It's definitely an adjustment from regular racing on Assetto. Don't know how much you've researched but don't use any of the non "drift" cars as they're basically impossible to slide. They all drive like they're on R compound tires.
So I've been trying to learn to drift in AC for years. I've watched so many guides and none have clicked for me. I think I've finally found what I've been looking for. Currently I'm at work, but when I get home I'm going to give this a shot. I'll update this comment when I give it a try.
@@JankyDriftso it looks like you have a georgia plate. If you're ever up in Gwinnett county, check out torque motorsports in Duluth. Its a great sim racing place. They have full motion rigs.
@@BigMacAttack83 Was a member there for a while actually, mostly for the RC drifting since I've got a sim setup at home. Actually moving out of state later this month though.
maybe I'm weird, but I actually prefer moving the wheel with my hands, as oppose to letting it slide. I find catching it kind of inconsistent, and I still let the wheel move itself, I just am immediately able to pick it back up when I need to turn, as oppose to catching the wheel (which sometimes is turning pretty fast) and then turning it. I use a very old thrustmaster t300, that had multiple owners, but it kind of feels like the ffb can be inconsistent sometimes, so this def helps me a lot. A few more things to note: I use paddle shifters and e brake on the steering wheel binded to a button to drift. I’m also maybe intermediate lvl, I can drift most tracks without crashing multiple times. And lastly I used to use other mods but tried the death wish garage mod pack and the cars there I feel are some of the easiest to drift. (No ffb changes needed on 100%)
Generally they call that technique "feeding the wheel" in drifting when, instead of letting go and catching the wheel, you move the wheel manually with your hands. Some drives like this method better and it's totally valid. Some cars even mandate that you drift it that way since the car doesn't have good self-steer for various reasons.
I race a lot on sims but I've just never been able to drift, I tried a couple years ago, watched a few vids and just didn't get it so I went back to regular racing Your vid is definitely the best tutorial I've seen especially with the way you go step by step and adding new techniques Sadly I'm still terrible but I'll keep trying. I have a problem where the car just oversteers too much and then snaps back when I try to correct. I'm trying to be more subtle with inputs but then it's too much understeer. Just gotta keep trying
Yeah on the racing side you tend to focus a lot more on avoiding the slides which is the opposite skillset. I think it was an old episode of top gear where they had a pro racer come on and the dude couldn't drift if his life depended on it. Just keep working at it, at some point it clicks.
First and foremost, I want to thank you for this video. You're a good teacher. Since I've only spent my time on the track attempting to put in the fastest lap I can, drifting has always been difficult for me since it contradicts my instinct reactions. I think the hardest part for me has always been knowing when to grab and stop the counter-steering wheel. Do you (or anyone else for that matter) have any tips and tricks for when to do so? Or is it purely based on feel and experience/practice? I've got it mostly sorted out at this point, however, there are still some days I struggle and it's incredibly frustrating! Also, as a side note, when putting text on the screen, would you consider leaving it up a bit longer in the future? Even if it is just a witty or sarcastic remark😜
Appreciate the comment - As far as timing on countersteer, honestly there's no real formula to it, it's something you start to pick up and perfect with repetition. I don't even think about it anymore, similar to driving a manual transmission where at first you're thinking about ever gear and clutch movement then it becomes second nature. And I will try on the captions, honestly never sure just how long to leave them up without them becoming annoying.
Never seen u b4, some reason was in my feed (thx YT). Good useful stuff! - for the audience, it’s tough to believe the transfer to irl, but it’s true, I been an E46 guy most my life and most developers have nailed it if your setup is balanced. I’m just saying listen to the guys recommendations!
Been nearly 2 years since I messaged but all im gonna say is practice is key, get comfortable with your car and get a clutch, shifter and 900 degree wheel for optimal experience. Beamng is like training with weights so going back to AC felt very easy.
Clutch kick in games vs reality tho. Pros?Basically a moving car entering a burnout state, instant rev to high RPM and then releasing it to stop griping and start drifting. Cons? Can easily damage/break clutch, axles, differential, gearbox and rarely wheel hubs.
Great intro to drifting. I've been learning to drift for the past few months and this is still helping me. I think I really need most help on the actual set up of a car and what makes the car do certain things for example - dampers/suspension/gear ratios etc. Is this something you can help us with?
Hit or miss on car setup for me, I have a decent understanding but most of what I play around with in game is force feedback settings by car as well as tire pressures. Honestly if you're just learning i probably wouldnt play around too much with suspension settings. Great to learn eventually but until you're putting down consistent lines you might wind up thinking you need more adjustment than you actually do.
@@JankyDrift I think this is the case for me! I play around too much and then the car eventually starts to feel so wacky 🤣 I'll just put in my time with standard tuning and having a comfortable gear ratio that I like
Double check your force feedback both in-game and in the settings for whatever wheel you're running. Would also recommend joining the Assetto Corsa Drift facebook group, you'll generally get some decent tech support there.
Thanks to driving a belt driven wheel not a gear driver (thrust master tmx pro) drifting is easy I’ve learnt how to properly drift within 2 weeks in a lot of cars with mods in tight corners
See, I made the mistake of getting a drift sim AFTER I sold my SR Kouki and never sliding it, worst decision of my life lmao. I'm at the point on sim where I can lead and chase at any track, with any car and have solid results. There's times I feel like I'm James Deane because I'm on the door of the lead car the entire time lol. Now all I want is to get a basic seat time car to start going to the local track and getting IRL seat time and putting my drift sim learning and results to reality. One day that'll happen and I hope I can slide the track IRL just as well as the sim.
powerslides feel good and normal but the jump to donuts is crazy. it just feels like im fighting the wheel to get it where i think it should be and im lagging behind on my adjustments. maybe thats just placebo though. (g920)
i was able to do the first part, but couldn't do the circle for the life of me. Either straightened out of the drift or spun out. Longest I was in the circle was 3 seconds.
Hey, I was wondering if you were really playing in 3rd person or if it was just a replay with a better angle? I guess it’s better to learn in 1st person view but I’m interested to know why some people use 3rd person while using a wheel?!
What do you do if you start to spin out? I start a drift, and everything is fine, but out of nowhere, the car starts getting more angle into an unrecoverable state Also, a question about drift cars irl. In assetto, I’ve found 2 kinds of mods, the ones that drift and the ones that don’t. Steering angle doesn’t necessarily matter, but some cars never catch, and when they do they spin out immediately. While others you can keep the accel down. Idk if it’s an issue of the car mods, an issue of the controller (I use a G29), or an issue of skill. Irl are there cars like these, or can all cars drift beautifully? Thank u for making this vid btw
Hard to say without seeing you drive... But it's usually either too much throttle or not enough counter steer. Play around with starting and maintaining a drift using less throttle, you shouldn't really ever have to be at 100%. Also try letting the steering wheel slide through your hands more before catching because the car won't be able to balance itself if you catch too early. Some cars are easier or harder to drift in real life, I had a mustang for a while and swear that thing wanted to kill me. As far as Assetto cars, any of the non-drift cars like the 370Z are really horrible for drifting. I think it's because those cars have racing tires (basically slicks) so when you lose grip they snap back around almost immediately. The drift mods have suspension and steering set up specifically for drift with extra steering angle and less grippy tires. Stick to drifting the purpose built drift cars.
Yo Janky, ive been looking into learning drifting on my wheel, but i cant for the life of me get the hang of it, and would like you know if you'd be down for some one on one lessons, hell, if you want, i would definitely not mind if you made a little youtube series out of it, and finding someone to help teach me is rough for me, as i have yet to find anyone able or willing to help, though i will try out what you said in this video and see where it takes me.
I just watched the video you posted and looks like you're making decent progress. I don't hate the idea but honestly I'd probably just walk you through a lot of the same steps in this video and the donuts lesson. Not sure how much value that would provide, I really need to be able to see your actual hand motions to figure out where you need to correct. I'm trying to do consistent Tuesday night session where I jump on for an hour or so to drift and anyone is welcome to join. Feel free to jump on, thus far it's been just me running solo.
Most of the AC drift videos I see are done with chase camera. Obviously it is more representative for YT video content, but if we put streaming and YT aside, people mainly drift in sim race with chase camera? and why?
I drift 100% with the cockpit camera, I just record the replays afterwards as chase because it's easier for people to watch. Most other people on RUclips are probably doing the same.
Why when I try to do a donut around the circle the diameter or size of my circle don't grow it just does donuts as if my wheel was all the way turned to a certain side?
i have problem witch the 350Z when i tryna move out of the pit its just stay in place and nothing work to move it put it in gear and nothing i was thinking that it was because i dont have E-brake but i dont realy knows
got a used sim rig for a good price and was wondering if the handbrake is ajustable (got the same as you from the looks) because on my handbrake when i pull it the first 2/3 are nothing then it starts on the last 1/3 (sorry for my bad english)
You don't need any mods to drift in assetto corsa but you can download car packs which add in drift cars - ruclips.net/video/-mFIgj6HPPg/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I don't actually drive in 3rd person view, I just save the replays that way so it's easier for people to follow. For VR I use the cockpit view, and when I'm playing on screen I like to use the hood camera. You can probably learn in 3rd person, but I wouldn't recommend it because you're not getting the full experience. For example, when you're trying to hit an outside clipping point you have to learn to do that by feel in an actual car vs being able to see exactly where you are in 3rd person.
Hey idk if this is a stupid question but how do i deal with the weight transfer? like i can drift around the corner id say 60-70% of the time but sometimes the car will want to transfer in the other direction and i cant for the life of me figure out how to stop that, help would be appreciated, thanks!
More then likely the car is "gripping up" which is causing it to either straighten or fling itself back the other way. This is generally caused by losing wheel speed due to a) no having enough power or b) not having enough gear. If you are hitting rev limiter you will need to change you cars gearing for that track or shift up. Power is a simple one, but you can make the car feel like it has more power by uping the rear tire pressures as well. If you adjust these and you still can't keep the car from wanting to switch back then try quickly turning back into the turn to try to get more angle back than going back into counter steer.
I finally have a sim setup. But the first two days of driving the Sim has made me very confused. I've been drifting in real life for awhile and I have no problems (E46 sedan with 1jz and a a31 cerfiro with rb20det) however when I start doing asseto Corsa I keep spinning and can't link anything. It is due to the lack of G force that I can't anticipate or is there a gap in the game versus real life that settings can never make up for and I will just have to get used to it?
Yeah unfortunately you'll probably have to relearn a bit, but i think its definitely worth it because it teaches you to precieve more through your hands which adds to the skillset. If youre playing on PC try some easier packs to start like Gravy Garage.
Everything aside from ABS should be off. I know some people try to slowly decrease stability or traction as they figure it out, but honestly all you're doing is delaying the learning process. When you eventually try to turn stability off it'll be like learning to drift all over again. Plus none of the multiplayer servers allow driving assists, so you won't be able to drift with anyone unless you turn assists off.
How do I get my wheels self steer to be smoother, and not feel like when I let off throttle, the front end of the car grips and just instantly shoots off track?
I would have one dumb question ! With cars around 500hp and lower, on tracks like the drift park in your video, US Air, Grange and other similar tighter stuff, which gear do you usually do most of the slides ? With WDTS and a few other packs, I often find that 2nd always feels too short while 3rd feels too boggy. Am I missing something (I most probably am) ?
That's not far from what your experience would be in reality. Especially for turbo engines it can be difficult to keep the spool up from a lower RPM in 3rd which would cause you to gain traction and bog. Then of course running out of gear in second sucks, so a lot of folks will tune the final drive ratio to suit the track they're on and their driving style, so you can give that a shot testing longer or shorter gearing to find a sweet spot for each track. Another thing would be adjusting tire pressure, for example adding a few PSI to the rear can help loosen it up a bit. I like to keep gearing consistent since realistically that's not something I'm going to be swapping out on my real drift car. I spend probably 95% of my time in second, occasionally coming up to 3rd depending on the car/corner but usually not staying there long. There are just some tracks and lines that your car is going to be better suited for, which has been my experience IRL as well. I always watch the LS guys very jealously as they basically float through everything.
I got the first two parts down but for the life of me I can’t get the donuts. I either spin out or don’t have enough slide to do it. I did it once or twice but can’t get it down.
top video, am just wondering does my problem is in wheel in game or in me, i downloaded nissan silvia s14, track drift, BUT , every time when the car stop, not matter the surface , it have a rly low responsiveness on gas pedal (comparing to real car)...when i watching green bar which should be the throttle, am holding it full, but according to engine sound...it sound like i hold it on 10% and than slooowly accelerate like it have 2-3 second delay, on 30-40% and than jump on 90-100%, any car any time same thing. while am driving, the throttle response(not instant but ok) is ok, but some time it happen similar thing when the drift start, am in 2nd the gear, the car start to slide, pushing the throttle and it just start to decrease , but am pushing (not hold) 100% i can see the bar, but the car just fall in stall and stop, am sure the pedals work 100% cose i dont have that problem in other game. I know to solwe it ,the throtle curve, but idk i cant find it option
When you are in the settings menu in either content manager or the main assetto corsa game. If you press the throttle all the way down does that show the throttle is hitting 100%? You also may have the driving assists on like traction control which will modulate the throttle for you to prevent you from doing a burnout. Make sure all assists are turned off.
@@JankyDrift yes the throttle go to 100% , and no dead zone. About assists, everything is turned off except abs is on factory...as i said, i see the green bar goes to full instant when i press the pedal, but the car engine not getting the same % of gas, SPECIALY if the car not move and the wheel is turned in one side, i need to correct it to stay straight and i can slooowly start to move, that iritaing me cose i have lot of spins and stop and every time i need to straight the wheel set the 1st gear and start over like in driving school...
@@oskarmihalovic3903 Yeah unfortunately I've never heard of that before. If it were me I'd probably try reinstalling the game but I can't really help otherwise, sorry.

I hit full gas pedal and it just goes straight into the turn I have no idea how or why , is it becouse of wrong settings or might it be becouse I drive G29? please some1 help I really want learn to drift but it doesnt work
Could be a number of things from game settings to driving style. If you post a video of you driving both in-game and your actual wheel inputs I'd be happy to take a look and give pointers.
i would look at your force feed back fits and for most and the one thing that i did when i started was lowering the degrees of wheel rotation to begin with and then when i was use to that i would put up the degrees more and so on, i started at 500 degrees of wheel rotation then 720, and then 900. i was using a logitech g920 to begin with but just recently upgraded to the thrustmaster t300rs and the difference is night and day.
Do you have stability control switched to 0%? I have it on and drift fairly well however when I take it off its awful! but i wonder if i missing on some extra immersion..
I drive with all assists turned off aside from ABS, and most people turn that off too. If you've been drifting with it on you're probably going to have to relearn. Creates a lot of not great habits.
Make sure you have all the traction and stability control turned off, otherwise you'll definitely have that problem. The game likes to sneak traction control on especially, but that m3 should have more than enough power to kick the rear out. If thats not working try the supra and see if you're still having that problem. The drift supra is overpowered.
I use the handbrake more for line corrections and safer entries when I need to scrub speed. Also huge in tandems. Generally you do want to try and use it as little as possible.
I seem to struggle with the animated driver not steering as fast as I steer my physical sim wheel. My wheel angles are correct, when I'm sitting still the animated wheel matches my input, but when I'm driving the dude inside the car just turns like a grandma lol. I'm assuming this is some kind of driving assist that I haven't found yet and turned off. Anyone know what's causing my problem? Or is that just normal AC stuff I need to get used to?
You can definitely turn the driver off on PC, not sure on console. I believe there should be an option to disable driver arms in the graphics settings.
Thx, it's not that I can see them that's a problem. It's the fact that the in-game wheel doesn't react to my inputs the way it should. If I counter steer and go full lock the in game wheel will be slowly following my inputs but never fast enough for me to ACTUALLY counter steer. @@JankyDrift
Anyone having issues with their virtual wheel not following the inputs of their physical wheel first check that your steering degrees are correct and then TURN OFF SPEED SENSITIVITY. Speed sensitivity makes the in-game wheel do funky shit and it WON'T follow your input even if your steering angle is correct. No one seems to want to share that information so here it is.... Hope it helps someone.
Had no idea. Just looked it up and apparently it means my pedals are inverted, which I guess I re-inverted via the settings on Assetto because they work fine. Sounds like you want that light to be red.
I forgot to mention in the video, but make sure ALL driving assists are turned off.
Yeah I'm not entirely sure how the logitech skillset would transfer to real life. The slow rotation makes you babysit the wheel way too much.
Same. Started on g923 after 6 months break now on t300 w rally wheel and find my self over flicking the transitions still
there is a steering technique that is called wheel tracing, you basically do that with the logitech but with a bit more force so it's not that different
idk what to say, there are difference btw g27 and g923, but the g923 have the new procesor and smaller gear ratio, so the so called dead ffb center is removed, about ffb strenght when i set it on 100% i cant hold back the wheel, i dont say, maybe its easier on belt driven wheels...and about drift there are many videos where ppl drifting with no problem with logitech ,specialy the newer versions like g29 and g923 are upgraded instead of g27/25
@@JankyDrift it's ok on lower hp street builds but on competition cars managing the wheel sometimes feels like hard labour

This is really great!! What I needed. Struggling with doing figure eights and transitions. Every time I transition I spin out. Will be trying your tips soon. 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Appreciate it good sir
good wheelbase settings can help u too
holy crap with your help and other peoples detailed help on pedals and stuff this finally helped me drift. im actually proper getting better after practicing for 2 hours step by step in your hguide
Best tutorial ive seen im learning the transition now but thanks to this tutorial i can drift pretty ok
Glad to hear I could help!
Thank you for breaking this down. Most guys just show you but don't really explain enough. Gonna try this today. Thank you for your time.
If you struggle even to slide the car, the ABS and TCS are on by default. Took me half an hour to figure out :(
i can't turn it off how did you do it bro?
@@JankyDrift Thanks for the advice brother! I'll try that today. I definitely see the difference in yours and mine. Subbed back!
I have been using your guide and I am making progress( I still can hold a full corner/turn yet lol) I got my wheel like a week ago and your guide has been so helpful thank you great video🔥🥇
Hell yeah - Glad to hear it's been helpful. Keep at it and you'll be doing tandems in no time.
Poor me try to drift without FFB. Its nearly impossible 😐
@Cryptotommy100 What wheel you using? Honestly I can't see how it's possible with ffb, you'd have to set your wheel rotation super low.
I have watched multiple tutorial of how to drift in sim, but this video is what I think helps me the most. Thank you for the video
Check out CTorretto's drift tutorial if you havent already, its the best one out there imo.
Out of all the drift tutorials this one i actually understand.
P.S. Yeah the piano problem is quite bad, I mean this just happens to them all the time! ruclips.net/video/Dn2VLxg1ORg/видео.html
This video helped me to link these corners on day 2 I the Gravy Garage beater you suggested in your other video! Thanks so much for this! I’m fired up to learn more!
Very good info. Steve Kinser, Ken Schrader & Tony Stewart know their way around a dirt track.
This is the one thing am yet to master in AC. Thank you for the tips, will be practicing in a few minutes
Awesome - It's definitely an adjustment from regular racing on Assetto. Don't know how much you've researched but don't use any of the non "drift" cars as they're basically impossible to slide. They all drive like they're on R compound tires.
@@JankyDrift I am practicing with the BMW E30 drift and the Toyota A86
So I've been trying to learn to drift in AC for years. I've watched so many guides and none have clicked for me. I think I've finally found what I've been looking for. Currently I'm at work, but when I get home I'm going to give this a shot. I'll update this comment when I give it a try.
Awesome let me know how it works for you. No substitution for seat time, but hopefully this gets you pointed in the right direction.
@@JankyDrift cool beans. Well safe travels to wherever you're moving to.
maybe I'm weird, but I actually prefer moving the wheel with my hands, as oppose to letting it slide.
I’m at the frustrating point and this video really helped, thanks
this was awesome man. thanks for the tip! been playing assesstto and ill take your advice.
thx man, i almost gave up. After seeing this vid i am back at it again 👍👍and starting to get better 😎😎
it is really frustrating. but i got some improvements and more understanding now. thank u so much!!!
I race a lot on sims but I've just never been able to drift, I tried a couple years ago, watched a few vids and just didn't get it so I went back to regular racing
Your vid is definitely the best tutorial I've seen especially with the way you go step by step and adding new techniques
Sadly I'm still terrible but I'll keep trying.
Top tip for me we trusting the wheel to counter street it's self when you release it. Thanks mate
Don't know if you had a chance to watch my sim vs real life video, but it's really crazy how much it translates.
Incredible video! Amazing clear steps. Language and video shots. Wow!
Been nearly 2 years since I messaged but all im gonna say is practice is key, get comfortable with your car and get a clutch, shifter and 900 degree wheel for optimal experience. Beamng is like training with weights so going back to AC felt very easy.
100% - There are no shortcuts unfortunately.
@@JankyDrift went from an old ferrari wheel with no ffb to a tmx then onto a moza r9 so there is evolution.
Clutch kick in games vs reality tho.
Pros?Basically a moving car entering a burnout state, instant rev to high RPM and then releasing it to stop griping and start drifting.
Cons? Can easily damage/break clutch, axles, differential, gearbox and rarely wheel hubs.
Damn this is exactly what I needed thanks bro!
You explanation and instructions were too good.
Loved watching how to do it.
Thanks for the wonderful video I have started learning drift after seeing your tutorial...good work keep it up

Great video man, great tips, self rotating the wheel on a logitec g series can be hard that wheel needs some man handeling to rotate xd
thanks for this vid! starting to get the grasp of it
I like doing time attacks in touge maps but do get tired of trying to chase a faster time, thats why im trying to learn on how to drift now.
I like doing the touge maps too but generally just wind up drifting the whole time 😄
I’m pretty solid, but I just have one of my friends my old rig. Gonna send him this as a quick intro
I play around too much and then the car eventually starts to feel so wacky 🤣 I'll just put in my time with standard tuning and having a comfortable gear ratio that I like
I remember just starting out and man it was painful now I'm a lot better
I find the counter steer just rips through my hands. Have dialed back the ffb substantially and still having it overpower
Double check your force feedback both in-game and in the settings for whatever wheel you're running. Would also recommend joining the Assetto Corsa Drift facebook group, you'll generally get some decent tech support there.
Hey you should make a video on the most realistic drift tracks in assetto
I will actually be doing something similar to that in the future!
How do you even get into the donut/drift on the circle and also stay centered?
i cant figure it out
Thanks to driving a belt driven wheel not a gear driver (thrust master tmx pro) drifting is easy I’ve learnt how to properly drift within 2 weeks in a lot of cars with mods in tight corners
I just learn the power slide today. Hopefully I can do donut after that
See, I made the mistake of getting a drift sim AFTER I sold my SR Kouki and never sliding it, worst decision of my life lmao.
Simulation and reality. Can the knowledge acquired on the simulator be transferred to the reality of driving?
Definitely. You lose some sensory input on the sim, but techniques will transfer over.
works perfect thx+
i was able to do the first part, but couldn't do the circle for the life of me. Either straightened out of the drift or spun out. Longest I was in the circle was 3 seconds.
You'll get it. Keep at it
Hey, I was wondering if you were really playing in 3rd person or if it was just a replay with a better angle? I guess it’s better to learn in 1st person view but I’m interested to know why some people use 3rd person while using a wheel?!
I play exclusively in cockpit. 3rd person video just makes it more RUclips friendly.
What do you do if you start to spin out? I start a drift, and everything is fine, but out of nowhere, the car starts getting more angle into an unrecoverable state
Also, a question about drift cars irl.
@@JankyDrift thank youu
Why when I try to do a donut around the circle the diameter or size of my circle don't grow it just does donuts as if my wheel was all the way turned to a certain side?
i have problem witch the 350Z when i tryna move out of the pit its just stay in place and nothing work to move it put it in gear and nothing
i was thinking that it was because i dont have E-brake but i dont realy knows
Thank you!
got a used sim rig for a good price and was wondering if the handbrake is ajustable (got the same as you from the looks) because on my handbrake when i pull it the first 2/3 are nothing then it starts on the last 1/3 (sorry for my bad english)
You can adjust the sensitivity in content manager, there's a slider to adjust the scale for how quickly the handbrake applies.

You don't need any mods to drift in assetto corsa but you can download car packs which add in drift cars - ruclips.net/video/-mFIgj6HPPg/видео.htmlfeature=shared
Does it make sense to learn in the third person? I'm kinda scared to get used to the third person.
If youre playing on PC try some easier packs to start like Gravy Garage.
do you have stability control on? and if what % cuz i can drift really well on %40 but I always spin out when its off
Everything aside from ABS should be off.
How do I get my wheels self steer to be smoother, and not feel like when I let off throttle, the front end of the car grips and just instantly shoots off track?
what wheel?

Im always spinning out even when i dont trhrottle too much, idk what im doing wrong
Creates a lot of not great habits.
bruh i cant get the first step down lmao my i chose the same car and it doesnt slide, just turns and doesnt have enough power to slide like that
Make sure you have all the traction and stability control turned off, otherwise you'll definitely have that problem. The game likes to sneak traction control on especially, but that m3 should have more than enough power to kick the rear out.
If thats not working try the supra and see if you're still having that problem. The drift supra is overpowered.

Hope it helps someone.
why does your wheel has a green light? the light on my wheel is red and we have the same wheel
Had no idea. Just looked it up and apparently it means my pedals are inverted, which I guess I re-inverted via the settings on Assetto because they work fine. Sounds like you want that light to be red.
@@JankyDrift aaahh okay lol :D ty for the answer
now is it possible to do this on an 80 dollar wheel with no ffb
Possible? Maybe. Easy? No. You can pick logitech wheels up pretty cheap with FFB, can't imagine trying to do this without it.
What are your suspension settings on the e92 m3 drift car
In the video I'm running that car as-is. Mostly just mess with tire pressures if I'm going to do anything.
We cant fix ffb like normaly feel 😢
My g29 spin too slow it's normal ? It's hard to drift whit it
Look up LUT generators for the G29 on assetto corsa. Supposed to help a bit but yeah the g29 is pretty slow for drifting.
How do I counter steer on controller?
You don't really. I would probably look at doing something like this:
