    Speaking of Master Duel, I was playing my Red-Eyes Burndown a while back for the Xyz Summon Daily Challenge, as I simply needed a third Xyz Summon, so decided on Flare Metal Dragon, like I usually do and came across someone playing Dark Magician WITH Piercing the Darkness! He got it on the Field and Dark Magician out and I was left wondering what to do about it exactly, hoping as I do for a Stamping Destruction, when he switched his Dark Magician into Defence Position while I still had two big Dragons on the Field... I won in a couple more Turns... "If you'd kept that thing in Attack Position, it would've given me a headache! Thanks for making my job easier! Idiot!"

    As someone who loves the Magikey archetype, I did play less of it when Halq got banned in MD with no good alternative to it to go to Accesscode.
    Also, the Earth Normal Monster I use isn't Gene-Warped Warwolf. It's Angel Trumpeter. As a small payoff of 100 ATK points, it's a Tuner, so if I don't have Mafteal (and for a while, Mafteal wasn't in MD), I could still Synchro to the Magikey Synchro or to Final Sigma.

    High Ritual Art works very well with Shinobirds: High Ritual Art returns the Ritual monster summoned by its effect back into the deck during the next end phase. Because Shinobirds return already to the hand during the endphase they are summoned, it cuts out the cost of having to search them when you have a vanilla in hand. High Ritual Art can become an omni Ritual summon when Transonic Bird is on the field and you have a vanilla of equal level in your hand. I only recommend running one High Ritual art, however.
    I like the idea of generic Ritual spells like Advanced Ritual Art, though I feel like why Fusions became far superior was because of their spells that sent materials directly from the deck to the graveyard; I wish Rituals had something similar, but without having the need to run normal monsters 😅

    I'm surprised Magikey World wasn't on this list. It helps you search a Magikey card from your deck to your hand when played. As well as prevent a Normal Monster from being destroyed by battle or card effect once per turn. AND let's you add a Magikey Maftea from your deck to your hand in exchange for one card from your hand going to the bottom of your deck.
    These three effects makes it easier to get Magikey able to get their fusion and ritual summons going off even on turn one, as long as you don't get Ashed.

    I found it so weird when I started playing Rikka that such a shitty monster like Loci got so much support and was so crucial to a combo.
    You even left out more support it gets, because the next part of the combo is going into the link-3 which brings back Loci from the graveyard again, to which you go into whichever link-4 suits the strategy you're playing.
    It's actually insane how just having one Unexpected Dai will get you a link-4 and a whole other monster from the other engine out before you even normal summon. You can even use Jasmine's summon to go into Lonefire Blossom so that you can get around having whatever monster you want to bring in in attack position instead.

    I mean, I would make this the 11th and 12th space, but Supernatural Danger Zone and D.D.D. Different Dimension Derby are two personal favourites of mine. Supernatural Danger Zone is particularly funny because it can also trigger off your opponent special summoning non-effect monsters for a free pop. In Melffy, you can actually use Melffy Rabby to some great effect with Melffy Starring Contest and Danger Zone, not to mention Rescue Rabbit into an xyz that allows you to use D.D.D. to do some targeted banishing. D.D.D. *is* a little too situational at times so I consider it the worst of the new stuff, but it also *doesn't* have a once per turn clause, so if you have D.D.D. and meet it's conditions, you could banish 3 cards in a single turn.

Doubly so for decks that actually rely on their non-effect monsters (like slapping a complementary effect onto a Phantasm Spiral Dragon.) And with Gemini monsters, the way this is written should mean that you could summon one with its own effects intact alongside the copied effects. I.E you can mix and match Gemini and copied effects.

    6:52 A DM support card that works universally better in a completely unrelated deck? Color me shocked.
    The just kept trying to make DM work with broken cards, trying to hit that bullseye, except not only did they completely miss the target, they kept hitting the bullseye for other archetypes instead.

      Exactly. Magician Souls breaking Spyrals by dumping Master Plan, Dragoon being one of the best Verte targets alongside DPE and Rainbow Neos, and the one in the video.

    At the end of the day, the three most milked monsters in the franchise are vanilla beaters. (Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes, Red-Eyes)
    Ergo, there will always be some form of support for the vanilla monsters, even if there's monsters that take the original's name, allowing for the support to be used on them too.

    • @bensell982
      @bensell982 Год назад

      Considering those are the signature monsters of Yugi, Kaiba, and Joey ot makes sense. That's also why Kuriboh, Neos, Heroes, Stardust Dragon, Synchron, Red Dragon Archfiend, Black Wings, and Utopia, Harpy Lady, Cyber Dragon, Gagaga, and Toons still get support. They were all used by characters in the anime and are therefore recognizable to people who like the anime, but only casually plays the card game. Also if you ever wonder why anime characters only ever seem to to run one offs and have mish mashes of various archetypes it's for variety. They do it so we see different cards in each duel.

    • @michaellevin664
      @michaellevin664 Год назад

      @@bensell982 None of those archetypes run vanillas besides maybe Harpy Lady. And more people recognize Kaiba, Yugi, and Joey more than, say, Jaden, or Yusei, or Mai.

    • @bensell982
      @bensell982 Год назад

      @@michaellevin664 I know I'm just explaining why they get support more than other legacy archetypes. Also Harpy Lady don't run vanilla monsters. I think they were planning on letting it but because Harpy Ladies 1, 2, 3, and Cyber Harpy Lady were early on in name change effects they messed up and made it so their names are always treated as Harpy Lady even in the deck. So you literally can't put all 5 in the same deck. Knowing that Harpy players will normally only run Cyber Harpy Lady because of the better attack stat or Harpy Lady 1 because of the numbered ones it has the best effect.

It seems like an obvious thought but the way you said it made it sound like the intention was for it to be DM support.

    • @dillbertpicklestein7289
      @dillbertpicklestein7289 Год назад +2

      Soft once per turn means it can activate once a turn for as many copies of the card there are. For example, Supply Squad can activate 3 times if there's 3 copies of it on the field, because it just says "once per turn, (effect)"
      Hard once per turn means you can only use that effect once per turn no matter what. It usually will be written as "you can only use the effect of (card name) once per turn"
