This car absolutely surpassed all my expectations. I was expecting this lower end model to be a bit lacklustre, but for the road this car is an absolute hoot! What are your thoughts? A daily caterham? 🤔
Hi ! The video is great (the engine sound is present without being over the top, the pictures are amazing) ! However, there is a small niggle : your voice when commenting your impressions (in the car) . there is a lot of wind and engine noise so, at moments, it's hard to ear your thoughts. Otherwise, I'm glad you reviewed something different (especially in my country, France) and that has an "old-school" recipe (Front engine, RWD, N/A, light, enough power that can be envoyed everyday, on any roads). Following the old-school way, there the Subaru/Toyota siblings (BRZ/GT86). Have you had the opportunity to drive one (or more) ? If you did, what's you're thoughts ? If you didn't, this car(s) interest you ? And, finally, on an different topic, how is the Fiesta ? Do you plan to mod it more ? Any wish to put Ford performance suspension on your Fiesta ST ? According the your review of the performance edition, they are worth it (better ride control and more comfort if I'm right. ;) Keep doing what you're doing. :D P.S. : Sorry for the 62493 lines long text. ;)
What an absolutely awesome car. I think it's so refreshing that in this day and age, someone still makes a car that is stripped back, visceral and FUN! Great video as always too.
JB, you are completely right - anyone who says you need more power doesn't understand these cars. The 270 is perfect. Sounds great, drives like a dream and you can put your foot down without losing your license or killing someone. The best Caterham in my opinion.
Hi ! This philosophy is what aimed Subaru (and Toyota) with their coupe siblings. But somewhat, the BRZ/86 is still lacking for power according to 95% of the people who reviewed them.
8:00 I'm sure you probably know about this already, but not getting the lowered floors really helps with this. SV with lowered floors is really only for very tall people.
Kyle Strangely, it didn’t. I mean, more power is always great fun but I never thought ‘this is slow.’ BHP per tonne is about the same as my modified fiesta and this would be faster through the corners.
Larger Serries 5 SV chassis which looks a bit awkward from some angles and heavier compared to the original S3 chassis models but still goes like stink!!
If you stick a set of the carbon 'canards' on the nosecone sides, the SV looks far less slab sides from front 3/4 view. The centre stripes narrow it visually as well.
It's worth remembering that the car developed its reputation as the Lotus 7 and under Lotus manufacture was never fitted with anything more than 105 BHP (Lotus Twin-cam engine)

Cheers mate. I totally agree with your thoughts 🙌🏼

Thanks Michael!

my Caterham r400 disagrees
The best quote I ever read about the Caterham was “it’s the kind of car that makes other people put their two thumbs up…. Not their two fingers up”!
So true as well :)

I had a Caterham back in the late 80's
Bring back fond memories?
Great vid & much appreciated, but how many ads??
My man @JB CTR... Great review. Awesome car... As always.. 👍🏽🤘🏾🤘🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thanks Faisal 😎
One of your best videos
Thanks Andrew! A shame very few people have watched it 😂
No cup holder?? that's it I'm not getting one.
Ngl I wasn’t going to watch this as the car didn’t interest me. Now I want one 😂
Mk2 Mitch After this weekend, I bloody want one too 😂
JB CTR looked to fit in your garage quite well ;)
Mk2 Mitch do it. Had mine seven years, great fun.
Mk2 Mitch It did... 🤣
How is the power. I've never driven anything close to as light as a Caterham, but does the 130ish horsepower engine leave you wanting more?
Kyle Strangely, it didn’t. I mean, more power is always great fun but I never thought ‘this is slow.’ BHP per tonne is about the same as my modified fiesta and this would be faster through the corners.
How can a car that's been in production for 67 years and created by the greatest ever F1 engineer, be UNDERRATED? What twaddle.
Good review mate

Arrgg. 'slab sided....'

Che meraviglia 😍😍😍
I believe It’s Naturally Aspirated
Driver a super car and everyone loves the car but hates you. Drive a Seven and everyone loves the car and respects you.
Pretty much 😂
Damn my dyslexia. Thought it said 720R.
Weaponised Potato Now that’s a car I’d like to see ;)
Great reviewer, far too many ads 😕
If you're looking for a modern Caterham, you should be looking in the Netherlands at Donkervoort ;-D
I found them on Instagram the other day. It looks very tasty indeed ;)
only 200k Euros for one tho lol
What's up with that huge rear wheel gap? Also, the rear wheel has a wrong offset, wheel has to be flush with the fender.
Grainy video .....
It’s 4K, so I assume this is your connection.
This is Not the Slowest ....
the 160 is .... yikes they'll let anyone drive them huh ...
OVERPRICED af crap
You like the brand because they gave you a free car for a bit to make a pointless RUclips video. Rubbish.
idiot
