I've always had a huge liking for the Caterham 7 ever sine an old work colleague built one a long time ago and took me out for a drive, he even let me drive it. That pedal box is so small you really have to think about what foot ware to have before even considering a drive. So much fun and feeling driving the car it would have been addictive had I been able to afford one and store it but unfortunately those days for me are gone for me. I've expired my best before date by quite a while. It's great to see people having fun in these cars and you certainly looked like you had quite a hoot in this video. Well done Bex.
Most of the guys I know who drive Caterhams (or Westfields and most other kits) are far from young so you may be in better company than you think Anthony! Most of us are between 50 and 80! Although it is mandatory to act like a kid I find 😁
Another top presentation, Bex. Am always interested in your Caterham reviews as I have a 360R SV which leaves me with a smile long after it's back in the garage.
Lotus 7, Series 2. FANTASTIC. Learnt to drive it properly on AINTREE Circuit Club, Tuesday nights, when I was on the black cabs, and earning a fair about a of money, in those days!
I agree Bex it's probably the best Caterham of all or if you are a muscly hunk like me maybe the 420SV 😂 However, the power to weight issue always grinds my gears because it's one of Caterhams misleading features. The 620R doesn't have 620bhp/tonne and same goes for the 360 or 420 etc etc. In this case if the 420R has 210bhp and weighs 560kgs the power to weight is actually only 375bhp/tonne. Which is a lot less than they kinda just 'let you believe' let's say. It's also considerably less than my 2.0 Zetec Turbo Westfield. Not that I'm bragging 😂😂 Another great video thank you Bex. Bit worrying about the water in the footwell though! 😬
Hi Bex new subscriber after watching your living with 170R .Love your videos im 6ft 3 with size 11 feet would I struggle to drive a caterham ?I know you said the 420 R is your new favourite but would a 170 S be worth having ? .Keep up the good work
@@DrivingBex Thank you for taking time out to reply . Do they do an SV 170 ? I went on a Morgan factory tour and loved the old 3 wheeler with the motorbike engine until I saw the price . Have you got a place driving Ginetta this year ?
Three things to do (1) the wide body version (2) the lower-floor version and (3) adjust the pedals to be further away. (Sounds difficult to do, isn't). You'll definitely need driving shoes - the Puma Speedcat are famous among Caterham owners as a go-to shoe.
Another great review 😎 If you ever want to borrow my 620s s3 for another model to review just pm me. same car l, ballistic performance it would be my pleasure. Snetterton??
Actually really prefer your reviewing style to most of the other ‘top’ reviews.. A more natural delivery.. Car reviews tend to annoyingly fall into this grove of how ‘one’s supposed to’ review a car.. Cheesy banter.. Odd noises, strange gasps and fake laughter when accelerating..😑 Everything drawn out and melodramatic.. Top Gear wannabe’s basically👎 Keep up the good work👍
Constructive criticism: lose the background noise! The subject & your narration of it is great. The addition of distracting, monotonous & annoying music ruined the vid for me. I left two minutes in.

@@steverabbits I'm far too old to grow up now. I stopped growing up when I got my first motorbike at 17, the body got decades older though.
"Speech is a throwaway", that's a keeper! 😊
Love this car. Makes me smile and it certainly made you smile too. Great vid again. 😍
Great car🤩

Awesome video. Happy to share myself and my friend now own this awesome car.
Thanks for sharing!
Recently got treated to a drive out in a Caterham! They are fantastic cars! It did well to survive the wet weather !
They are very resilient
Fantastic car. I’d love to own the X330 version. I’d change a couple of things on it if I could. This a beauty as well mind
It’s a good choice if someone is using on the roads as well as on the track 🤙🏻🚀🏎
420R🔥💪😁👍💥🚀
Great video - would be great to see you compare Caterham to a Morgan plus six?

Thankyou!! The footwell is all dried out now haha
@@DrivingBex I'm glad to hear it, you'll eventually get trench foot otherwise! Eek! 🦶
Nice review. Almost any problem you get into there is the handling to get out of it.
Thankyou!!

I would definitely recommend looking at the SV as they are wider and longer!

In Spring you should come with me down the blue ridge parkway to the tail of the dragon in a 930. Let me know. :)
Try aeroscreen if you want a proper experience.
It’s on the list! Sadly didn’t fancy it for the 5 hour journey home on the m25 🤣
I had a road race Lotus 7, for 17 years.
Very good description of what this car is like to drive. Having reviewed the same car, I completely agree. Well done 👍🏻
Thank you! 👍
Very beautiful car and my car dreams, Very beautiful video, thank you very much👏👏👏👍👍👍🛻🛻🛻
Glad you liked it!
Hot little car; Hot little driver ! (or . . . "Hot li'l drivah")
136mph in a Caterham? Brave? Foolish? Both! 😮
Another great review 😎

I would absolutely love that! How is best to contact?
Great! I’ve sent a Linkedin message

I wonder, does the Caterham drive like a grown-up go-cart?
This is the best way to describe it!

Thank you so much! This means a lot!!😊
Err.....420bhp/t ??? I don't think so....210bhp and 560kg....that would be 375bhp/t then ....
quoted bhp divided by weight in kg.
And, at that weight the power/weight ratio also depends largely on the weight of the driver/passenger
You’re just too hard to understand! Talk too fast and slur your words. The car is fantastic.
