    Hi , I've just put a deposit on a low mileage 260CSR , for the summer . Sold 911 turbo ,
    ha ha, going to be very interesting , no driving aids , only limited slip dif , yours flys , I've got over 100hp more, I'm now thinking too much...
    Would have loved to seen in the boot and engine departments , but great Video , thanks

      100hp more yes but not too fast, you don't have to drive it with your foot to the floor! 😂
      Yeah should have shown the engine and boot, but the engine is an engine, and the boot is basically inside all of the body work behind the seats, quite a good bit of space in there to be fair. 😎👌
      Enjoy! 🤗

    Great video! Love the caterham 7’s and always wanted one…maybe one day, lol. My choice would be a 420R and for colour etc would be Matt black body, headlights and gloss black nose cone. Chrome roll bar, matte black windscreen and the chrome ringed black alloys on as wide a tyre as possible. Bloody lovely cars
    Edit: in my haste I forgot to mention that the colour scheme of the one you had for a week was very nice as well

    • @RickTheSpud
      @RickTheSpud  Год назад +1

      Thanks Myke!
      Sounds like you're going for the stealthy look! 420R is a good shout. The 310 is all you need to be fair, unless you carry a passenger then I'd go for a wide chassis and a 420R. I wouldn't go for wide tyres, more fun and playful with narrow ones, would get spacers tho.

    Hi Rick. Love your no-nonsense approach. I got a real feel for the real world abilities of this cars, with some pros and cons vs wider chassis, and how it drives in a variety of situations. You may want to invest in a better mic at some stage as it’s quite a noisy cockpit in this car, but I could still hear all your comments. You’ve rekindled my interest in a Caterham, job done!

    • @RickTheSpud
      @RickTheSpud  Год назад

      Hi Mike. Thank you buddy, I appreciate that. I just try and put across what I think in a real world sort of way. I loved that car. So fun.
      Yeah I've only got cheap kit, although the mics on those Sony cameras are pretty good. I filmed it stop/start over 2 days so to use an external mic and sync it for every clip would have been a massive effort. Also with a clip mic you get less wind noise but also less engine noise as it's a close proximity mic.
      Like you say, you could hear everything.

    • @RickTheSpud
      @RickTheSpud  3 года назад

      Ah thank you buddy. Appreciate that.
      Yeah I would spec an SV chassis if I could have the standard pedals. SV pedals are more spread out and harder to heal and toe!

      @@RickTheSpud i did find that with the pedals but a few easy mods have sorted that can heal and toe fine now. Plus the advantage of being still able to drive in normal shoes. @@RickTheSpud Well the time you took was worth it. Hopefully you'll realise that too. Creating a quality video does take longer than many vloggers realise as the whole process should be more complex than merely holding up a phone and pointing it at yourself. All the extra angles you got give the whole thing more breadth and depth. Don't stop thinking along those lines or you'll end up losing the edge you have over the rest.

      I always try and put the effort in the edit, and if I've got a car for long enough I always try and get the extra angles and cut aways, and as long as my cameraman buddy Dom is available!
      Not always possible if I haven't got the time, or it's just a 'run and gun' type vlog like at an event or something.
      I managed something reasonably good with the recent Morgan video, but there was 2 of us and Pete could drop me off to film some drivebys, always handy!

      Heya.
      Yeah, footwells are wider and there's generally just more space everywhere. Much more liveable.
      Heel and toe on an SV (wide) chassis is more conventional actual heel and toe as the pedals are further apart, where as on the normal (narrow) chassis it's more big toe/little toe and per the video. 👊

    Enjoyed watching your "ice cream trip" around London in that fluorescent green 7 some weeks back.
    ---Sorry you don't quite fit the original chassis. At 6'1" and 200 LBS I still do and rather well especially with the leather "comfy seats". Almost 40 years ago (on my first long-cockpit live axle 7) I fitted a piece of "Lee Filters" "Congo Blue" cine-gel over the main beam warning light so as to give an unobtrusive and distinctive deep violet indication. I also prefer a non-obnoxious "Pearlescent Off-white" finish for night time visibility and a bit of subtle, uh, class.

      Yeah that was a fun night for sure. I've watched it back a few times to re-live the evening! 🥰
      Yeah the leather seats in the narrow chassis is the best option for me I think, the carbon seats are a bit tight for me, although very supportive, the strap length is too short for where the buckle ends up, although fine in the SV chassis. 👊😉

      @@RickTheSpud Its been my dream to own one for the last year. I tried many great sport cars last year, but none of them gave me the right kick. I am talking about new M3, M4 Competition, Taycan S CT, GT3RS, no kidding... and each time I got out I thought of how would I like a Caterham, I sense its the right machine for me. It may not be the fastest, not the most glorified or iconic in the automotive history, but for me it is. I feel like it has that pure and raw, visceral feel, great attachment to it, feeling of the moment, and not much more to it. No unnecessary electronics or some distractive features, nothing. I would certainly rent it out, but sadly its not possible to do so in my country. So I am determined to save up and buy it. Its the only option! :) Keep up the great content, take care!
