DJI Mavic Mini Wind Test | Can It Handle Windy Days

In this video, we are testing the flight capabilities of the DJI Mavic Mini on windy days. Due to its ultra-lightweight and small size, the DJI Mavic Mini cannot handle winds like larger more powerful drones such as the Mavic 2 Pro or Phantom 4 Pro. However, the Mavic Mini can definitely hold its own on windy days. In this test video, I do a hover test with winds at 44 km/h and wind gusts at 57 km/h to see if it can hold its position when hovering. I then take it for a quick flight in winds of 30 km/h with 45 km/h gusts to see if the drone can still record stable footage when the wind is strong and thrashing the drone about.

Thanks for the winter weather tips. They apply to ALL makes and models. Great footage of early snow and trees in transition. If you know your stuff, you can get great shots with any good quad, the mini is no exception.

Great test video mate.. Hmm the more videos I see on the mavic mini and the more drone video footage I see, I keep seeing that the mavic mini does not seem to auto focus very well on closer objects, the footage can be quite fuzzy, that's a bit disappointing. Even my spark has no issues with focus..
Still handle the wind amazingly 👍
Not to knock the review, but I'd expect a wind test at maybe 100ft. That's when they tend to drift or in some cases can't fly fast enough to beat the wind.

Given that it still does move around a little, how far away from a target, let's say guttering on a roof, can I be and still get good details like seeing individual leaves inside the guttering? One of the uses I have for this new drone will be checking the guttering on my 2 storey home. We get winds like in your video often, so I am curious how good the camera actually is for that type of usage?
Why no. Video footage of 1:24 and 2:44? Appears that was strong winds at a short distance.

Project Boxi you should buy the Mavic Air. Better drone for a little more in price. But if you shop around you should be able to find it cheaper with Thanksgiving and Christmas coming up

Hello excellent video I have a question could I add another light to the mavic mini like on the front legs ? Also I have a doubt about the propellers, they don't get loose because they are screwed are they safe of getting loose because I'm afraid they get off the motors and it will fall off

In Minnesota I'll fly my bebop2, hubsan h501s, and my eachine e58 10-15 below zero with lite winds, you won't get full run time though probably a little over half normal runtime
would have been nice to see the vid from the drone in the garden to see how the camera handled that

Very good idea because this drone does not weigh much and people question the impact of the wind on it.

Yes it will point straight down
Also in the gimbal settings you can make it look upwards a further 20 degrees.

Airbag888 no way, take it from me, that’s how I lost mine, it’s not powerful enough to fight against that powerful of a gust, so once the wind has it, you can’t get it back
@@chrischris8347 Yeah I'm not flying in more than 30km/h gusts. Generally I wait for 10-15km/h wind and max 30kmph gusts to go fly. Btw got mine about 2 weeks ago :)

I brought my mini in beach.but i got too hesitant to fly it bcoz of wind warning with my uav forecast plus there are people nearby.

The mavic air has better camera
yesterday I had flight at wind speed of 45kmph . and mavic mini was out of control . luckily i reached to the drone by running to it and its landed safely. but i don't recommend flying at High speed.
How max altitude?
I thought because it only does 20kph top speed it would come back in any wind higher than that. So that isn’t the case then?
This thing can do almost 30 mph in sport mode..

Good video, but as I see on your screen you had it on P mode which has only 8 m/s speed, why don't put it in Sport mode (13m/s) and see how that will handle the wind.

Thanks... now that has me worried... by biggest issue with drones so far, I've had 5... 3 of them took off and disappeared forever... including the GoPro Karma... I just want a drone for quick selfie or scenic shots on my MC tours, but I need to trust it to return to me.
Watch the long distance mavic mini vids on here.. that should put you at rest.. this thing will auto return to home from 18000 feet away with 50% battery , only just but that is serious distance for this mini.

Mine chugged itself into the lake and I had no control to it what so ever. I learned this the hard way, so never fly a drone this light on a windy day, RIP

I put my propeller guards on for first time because it’s very windy out today and my Mavic Mini got taken away and and is now stuck 75 feet up on a branch because of the propeller guards. Now I am waiting for a tree service to come take it down which will be over 200 bucks.
Learn from me - don’t fly on windy days and don’t fly near anything...I was 20 feet away from a tree and it’s so light it literally got blown away. Also I will never use those propeller guards again or maybe not near trees

Spectacular handling in the wind for such a tiny, lightweight drone. There are two things I won't do in a strong wind, pee off the windward side of my boat and fly a drone. 😜

I just got a Mavic Mini, and I tell you guys, it is BETTER THAN YOU EXPECT in every aspect, including performance in windy conditions!
I got mine 7 days ago and I agree.. this is amazing. I live in an apartment.. so I take off in my living room and fly out the window, highest I've been so far is 350feet in strong wind and still had full signal.. flying back in is the scary part, It makes me shake 😂

Go to the DJI website -> Mavic Mini -> specs -> remote and there you will see which phone sizes are fitting.
Can anyone help ? What would be the maximum wind speed i should fly at ? Im ver inexperienced and nervous on wind. I dont fly anything over 18mph. Am i being a bit silly or sensible ?
Fly at 28kmph max
I'm too chicken shit to fly in those conditions but yeah my Mini held up in a similar situation, no problem with stability of the footage.
