    NOTE: Regarding flight speed of the Mini 2. It is actually designed to fly slower when the camera is pointed almost straight down when in Normal or Cine flight modes (but not in Sport mode), and is supposed to help stabilize the footage.

  • @xavierboyle5650

    This is as unscientific as heck. Gusts are inconsistent. You should fly them side by side. Also, your gimbal is pointed downwards. Try flying them straight up. I've heard that the Mini 2 has speed limitations when the gimbal is pointed down due to reduce jitters when shooting so this can be the reason why it can't fight high winds. The study also doesn't measure other factors such as motor strain and battery usage.

    • @D7dronetech
      @D7dronetech  3 года назад +2

      Yes subjective testing. I may do another test in a controlled environment. Btw the speed is only restricted in Normal and Cine, but not in the Sport mode I was in for the video. Thanks.

    It all depends on how you fly it, in my opinion. There are so many factors here that we don't know. I've been using the Mini 2 in 32kph winds (around 450 meters above sea level) and I'm doing fine.

    I appreciate the effort and your results are unexpected but the wind speed can change quickly making the result seem off. Maybe if you have a friend that can go fly with you then you could put both birds in the air at the same time and get a better result as to which can handle the wind better! Nice Video! Thanks Mark!

      @D7dronetech  3 года назад

      Just did some testing in a more controlled environment. The Mini 2 still doesn’t hold position like the Mini 1 with the camera up. But what I did notice is that it’s worse when the camera is down, which I simply attribute to a slightly larger frontal area when the camera is pointing down. I’ll have to do some more testing. Where did you see this “known bug”?

    • @StarlancerAstro
      @StarlancerAstro 3 года назад

      @@D7dronetech Maybe not 'known' but it's seen in quite a few videos, it's either a bug or the drone has to tilt so much the gimbal can't keep the 90 degree orientation at a higher speed so it can only travel slow. You can see it in the video at about the 11 min mark ruclips.net/video/NtQA4TngRBw/видео.html&ab_channel=PhillyDroneLife

    • @monicajiang3277
      @monicajiang3277 3 года назад

      @@D7dronetech I find this in mini 2's user manual(P11): During video mode in Normal or Cine mode, the flight speed is limited when the pitch of the gimbal is near -90° or 0° in order to ensure shooting is stable. If there are strong winds, the restriction will be disabled to improve the wind resistance of the aircraft. As a result, the gimbal may vibrate while recording.
      So pointing down should not decrease the wind resistance.

  • @blueflame2601
    @blueflame2601 3 года назад +1

    My whole reason to consider Mini2 is the increased wind resistance. (I can increase the distance of Mini1 up to 30km by modifying the controller. That is impossible with Mini2 due to hardware restriction) I will wait for Mini3 with active track& object avoidance until 2021 fall.

      Hi Henri, I basically figured it out. The Mini 2 is actually designed to fly slower when the gimbal is pointed straight down. And per the manual, it actually says at around -90 degrees and even around 0 degrees, when in Normal or Cine modes (but not sport which is the mode I solely used for the video).
