Whoever decided Jack Black should play a teenage girl deserves all the money in the world.
I think a better description would be "displaying a teenage girl's personality in a video game avatar".
Jack black is Literally the best part of this movie!

I guess the definition for that is _adorkable_
I mean, compared to Guardians and Doctor Who this one of the smaller fandoms she's been a part of. Plus I remember people really hated on it when the first trailer came out. Yet, it was one of the highest grossing movies of 2017.
The cool thing is the two “Bethanys”, Jack and Madison, actually got to act a scene out together in the Goosebumps sequel.

Honestly I like it better than the original.
This movie was so much better than it had any right to be, and exactly what it needed to be. So much fun, such a perfect cast!

The fact that Karen Gillan filmed this and the second "Guardians of the Galaxy" movie the same year is crazy.

"The Next Level" is just as good, maybe even better.
I remember being pleasantly surprised by how heartwarming/emotional this one was at points, too, especially with Nick Jonas's character and Bethany, and her character growth in particular, and then him naming his daughter after her, so sweet! :) All of the actors and characters were great, though! The next one is really cute too, from what I remember, I feel like I like this one slightly better out of the two of them, from what I remember, but the third one's a lot of fun as well and worth checking out in my opinion :)

jack black was just absolutely perfect in this movie.
The first one with Robin Williams was really good, but I think this one is much better. The casting couldn't have been better, especially with Jack Black. Yes! Do the next one, you'll definitely get a kick out of it.

The next one is DEFINITELY worth watching. I took my teenage stepdaughter to the cinema to see these and we both LOVED them.

This one was so much better than I expected, it’s just a great little film. The casting was spot on, both sides.

I have some interesting theories about what Jumanji really is. I think it must have been designed by some kind of ancient jungle shaman as a test for young people who "seek to find a way to leave their world behind." Maybe it was originally a jeweled amulet of some kind that would transport its victims into a jungle world where they would have to reach a goal and say "Jumanji". Then it was taken by imperialists and put in a museum, but no one was interested in actually wearing it, so it transformed itself into a board game!
Jumanji: The Next Level is definitely worth watching!

Thanks for the awesome selection of movies. A lot of the older movies I saw when I was younger, and don't remember all of, so it's been fun watching along catching up on movies. I agree about the first Jumanji, it scared me as a kid.
You might also enjoy the movie Zathura. It's technically the second movie in the franchise but is separate from the main Jumanji story arc. Thanks for another great reaction and looking forward to seeing your next pick!

The Next Level is for sure worth watching. And a heads up, I believe it has a post credit scene.

A lot of people question why in the original film, Peter and Judy (being the future additions to the game) didn't "remember" Jumanji yet in this one the future editions (being everyone but Alex) did remember. It's simple. Peter and Judy did remember. We just didn't see that point yet. They would only remember when they reach the point in which they started playing just like in this movie. When we last saw Judy and Peter it was before their parents ski trip. So it was way before they originally started playing Jumanji. Then and only then would the original Judy and Peter 'replace' the new ones.
Peter and Judy didn't even exist when Alan started playing.
@@bcn1gh7h4wk Neither did the kids from this movie when Alex started playing. They would probably be around 16-18 but definitely not 20 in 2016.

it says "1996" at the beginning, and then it just time-jumps to "now, maybe"
@@bcn1gh7h4wk it came out in 2017. The kids say Alex has been dead for 20 years. It's easy to assume it's 2016 or 2017. Just face the fact that in this case, you're wrong.
@@OverWims and still, "coming out in 2017" doesn't necessarily correlate with the time *of the plot,* nor saying "dead for 20 years" specifically mean *20* years.... it could be the roundest figure they gather from hearsay.

They are actually working on a 4th one with the same cast too, so this version will be a Trilogy.

I loved the original with Robin Williams, so was worried about this film, but they did great, they didn't just remake the film, they took the idea and made a film that stands on its own, with new characters and a new story. It really works.

I really enjoyed this movie and I watch it over when I need a laugh. Jack Black as Bethany was just so awesome. He plays a teen girl disturbingly well. I love Karen Gillian and have since she was Amy Pond on Dr. Who. She just does so well with the variety of roles she plays, and her portrayal of Nebula in the MCU was wonderful. Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart were awesome too. All four of them did a great job of being teens stuck in very different adult bodies. And Bobby Cannavale I like in this role and as Paxton in Ant-Man.
I loved the Easter Egg referring to Allan Parrish from the first movie. That made me so very happy cos I've always loved Robin Williams and I hate that he's gone. This movie wasn't as good as the first, but that was mainly due to the Robin Williams factor.
Yep, the next movie is worth watching as well - it's a lot of fun.

I totally agree with you that Jack Black as Professor Shelly Oberon was hilarious. But Bobby Canavale as Van Pelt is terrifying. But not as terrifying as those snakes, which I did tell you about in the comments of your reaction to the first film. I'm surprised that you handled both quite well.
The movie was directed by Jake Kasdan, who is the son of Lawrence Kasdan (a Star Wars & Indiana Jones writer). Jake directed seven episodes of New Girl. I also suggest the Unrated version of Bad Teacher (2011) & Sex Tape (2014), both with Cameron Diaz & Jason Segel. #MoreJakeKasdanForAddieCounts
