The journey Reynolds went through to get this movie made is pretty crazy. It actually started years before he even played Wade in the Wolverine movie. The bad reaction to how Wade was portrayed in that movie just made it that much harder, but Reynolds refused to give up and we are all blessed that he did. I think it was like 11 years from when he first pitched a Deadpool movie to when filming on it started.
Yes 11 years he spent trying to get it made and it was worth it to make a movie so good that it makes so much money that even Disney let's them be R rated under their family friendly company.
@erikhopkins9548 Fyi...Disney didn't own 20th Century Fox until after both Deadpool and it's sequel were made. The last X-men movie released by pre Disney 20th Century Fox was Dark Phoenix.
@@bjgandalf69 I didn't say that Disney owned Fox before that time only that Ryan Reynolds fought for 11 years to get the first Deadpool movie made as he learned about the character around the time he played green lantern. What I am saying is that the movies are so good that even a company like Disney who Owens the movie rights now and Is a family friendly company has come out and said that they will let Deadpool 3 be rated R and Deadpool will be the only movies they allow to have that rating , cause Deadpool and Deadpool 2 made so much money and are loved so much that Disney will even break its own rule for it.
@@DarthKilaj85 OK, sorry that I misread your comment. Let's hope they stay out of any interference with the Deadpool franchise as we don't need some woke know it all like Kathleen Kennedy to ruin yet another franchise like she's done to Star Wars and apparently now Indiana Jones...smh
So to add to this, in the comics it was established that Wade was handsome before the transformation, and he actually referred to himself as looking like “Ryan Reynolds’s crossed with a shar-pie”. So of course people called Ryan’s attention to this and once he read the comics he was all “oh damn now I want to play this guy!”
The joke about Deadpool forgetting his ammo bag was in reference to the fact that they had far more elaborate action scene's planned but because Fox had no faith in the project they couldn't get the budget to do them. Also Deadpool talking to the audience is in line with the comic's. Deadpool knows he's a fictional character in a comic/movie so he just goes with it. all the other character's just think he's talking to himself because he's crazy.
In the Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe comic, Charles Xavier also learns about this truth when tries to shutdown Deadpool's brain after he killed all the X-men only to die of a massive brain injury from such an existential shattering realisation. I wonder if Deadpool's brain is also constantly experiencing similar damage but his healing factor heals his brain whenever he breaks the fourth wall.
Also to be fair, he is also crazy, so it is a safe assumption on their part.
To help you understand the connection, the reason for all the Wolverine references is because in the comics, Wade and Logan were in the Weapon X program together. Deadpool has also made countless guest and collaboration appearances in the X-Men, Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Guardians of the Galaxy franchises. Also, the way Deadpool is portrayed here is exactly how he is in the comics.
Well, not EXACTLY... the voices aren't there with the persona's in his head. But, I get why they left that out; real hard to do it in a movie. It does make it harder to show just how batshit crazy Deadpool is, though.
Love that that connection made Ryan and Hugh great friends of the screen as well
@@rowdeemunkee I love Ryan and Hughs fake feud they had going on 😂
Also Deadpool and Wolverine have Maple syrup flowing through their veins like all Canadians do.🇨🇦
This movie is the saner Deadpool
I can watch this movie again and again and never get bored. Action with brutal violence, black humor and a weird love story. What is there not to love?
TJ Miller. I find him less funny than he seems to find himself, so I don't love him. He's something not to love about this movie.
agreed reminded me of toxic avenger movies from troma
I swear, Ryan Reynolds was born to play Deadpool. He nailed the character so damn well that we forgot about the atrocity that was the Green Lantern movie.
I like how they satire and parody the fact Ryan Reynolds was in Green Lantern by having Deadpool 'fix' that problem in Deadpool 2 (mid credit sequence). 😂✌️
@@MLJ7956 he didn’t do that for us, he did it for Canada.
@@Dctctx "you're welcome Canada" lol
@@MLJ7956 Spoilers. 🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
Also makes you forget the OG Deadpool.
My favorite joke in the first one has to be "Let us go talk to the Professor"
"McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are so confusing"
The best one is definitely:
**smacks colossus in the nuts.**
“Dad?!?”
These movies actually take the CORRECT approach to Deadpool. The character as portrayed in the Wolverine movie was an abomination
Error 404: movie not found
@Declan Reilly exactly
@Moto Dork Abomination was in the Incredible Hulk movie and the She-Hulk TV show. I have no words for what that Wolverine movie did.
It's a classic cult❤
@@naimmahboubi89 I'm pretty sure he knows that. He wasn't saying he's THE Abomination from the Hulk. Just simply an abomination from a creative standpoint.
one of my favorite movies, ever. Ryan Reynolds knows Deadpool, he knows the humor, the brutality, and the softness towards ordinary people who have it just as bad as he did.
In 2004, Deadpool and Cable issue #2 actually had Deadpool’s face described.
Deadpool was asked by Cable what he actually looks like underneath the mask. To which Deadpool actually says:
“Like a Shar-Pei mixed with Ryan Reynolds.”
He was literally born to be Deadpool.
Morena Baccarin as Vanessa was so good in this. This movie was an enormous win and such a big change from all the other superhero movies. It wasn't easy for them to make and obviously now everyone is glad they did it.
Her primal scream in the remake of the show V was intense and amazing. One of my favorite moments of her career. ❤
This movie wasn't going to happen until "someone" leaked the test footage online and the studio saw the online support for it. Turns out to be one of the best Marvel movies in my opinion. It was fun watching your reaction to it. Looking forward to Deadpool 2 with you.
"Someone". So weird. I wonder who that could have been. I've heard it may have been some unknown guy named Bryan Breynolds, but that's just a rumor.
Watching Addie watch this move left a smile plastered across my face for the entire video. Her facial expressions responding to the film, especially in the beginning when she first got an idea of how violent this movie was going to be, was so goddamned amusing my face hurts now. Really looking forward to Deadpool 2 reaction.
Awww this made my day!!
12:20 that guy played in GALAXY QUEST as the Alien that was in the transporter room and said "and it exploded" when the pig lizard exploded
The humor and darkness in the Deadpool movies is the same as it is in the comics and Ryan Reynolds pulls off Deadpool's bubbly silliness/seriousness perfectly.
"That is gonna be the only thing pulling out tonight" Wow you even got the Ferris Bueller reference. Awesome.
Deadpool is kind of famous for breaking the 4th wall. In fact, in the comics, he's pretty much the only comic book character that actually understands he's a comic book character. In some of the books, this is in effect another kind of super power, as he can occasionally reach from one panel or page of the book, over to another panel to grab something he wants. None of the other characters understands who he's talking to, and it seems to them that things just appear in his hands.
And my favorite, interacting with his speech bubbles!
She-Hulk does that, too. She's aware that there's an audience looking at her and that there are writers and artists involved (this was HEAVILY leaned on in the final episode of the first season) and is frustrated that no one ELSE appears aware of it. Smart Hulk even offers to introduce her to a psychiatrist friend, Leonard Samson/Doc Samson, who has just a skosh of gamma-powered strength and durability himself.
I *SO* want She-Hulk and Deadpool to have a scene together so they can complain about all the stuff THEY can see that nobody else can.
the amount of work Ryan put in to make this movie a reality is honestly insane. gotta love that guy.
It's similar to his comic origin, but his creation is even darker in the comics.
He's come back from being practically vaporised by the hulk backhanded him.
The soldier bob is a reference to a hydra agent that deadpool 'liberated' from hydra and kept as a sidekick.
Deadpools cancer mutated as well which is what causes the scars and sores on his body, his healing factor is more powerful than wolverines in order to combat it.
Morena Baccarin who plays Vanessa in this movie is also in a tv show called "Firefly" which only lasted one season (14 episodes). It's a good show which had a movie called "Serenity" to wrap it all up. Addie, if you see this comment, please give the tv show Firefly a try. If you do watch it then please watch Serenity to Finnish it off. Serenity is a part of Firefly. It's basically a movie final episode to Firefly
Firefly is the BEST! Definitely worth a watch!
I love the fact that you caught the Ferris Bueller reference at the end. A lot of younger viewers (kids) didn't. And the way Reynolds kept breaking the 4th wall OVER and OVER again. That kept me laughing thru the movie. And, your reactions were GREAT, Addie. This is a great Post, and thank you for sharing it with us.
This is the Deadpool story to follow. Now that you've seen him in Wolverine Xmen origins......try to forget it.
What I love most about Deadpool, the character not the movies, is that you could drop him in any situation and it wouldn't seem weird. If you told me there was an episode of The Golden Girls where he shows up and sleeps with Dorothy....yeah, that sounds like something he'd do. If anything, the weird part would be it wasn't Rose.
You GOT the FERRIS reference!!?? Almost all reactors miss that. Put a smile on my face! Enjoyed your reaction.🙂
Ryan was sent to this Earth to be Deadpool. No one could even come close to it.
INTERESTING FACT: Fox paid for a test shoot (basically the bridge scene and the following fight sequence) and then sat on it until someone (no one is quite sure who, although their name may be close to Bryan Breynolds or Mim Tiller) leaked it onto RUclips, at which point the whole internet went wild, basically forcing Fox to put the movie into production.
Also, you may have noticed that the final fight seemed to take place on one of the SHIELD Helicarriers from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This is, of course, a total figment of your imagination, as Fox and the production team had no access to the rights of that part of the Marvel universe, because Deadpool is part of the X-Men universe, not the MCU.😉
You mean when the first one was made it was not part of the MCU it is part of the MCU now
A word of warning, for when you watch _Deadpool 2:_ by the time the title credits appear, you are likely to be *_very upset._* Don't let that distract you from reading the titles, because they will express exactly what you are feeling - so you'll know that the writers knew exactly what they were doing to us.
No matter how many times I see it the scene where Deadpool hits Ajax with the hubcap then says "head's up" makes me chuckle.
You will LOVE Deadpool 2!! Oh.. and they are filming Deadpool 3 right now :)
Screenwriter David S Goyer introduced the character of Deadpool to Ryan but once Marvel had Deadpool say in the comics: “Hey if you looked like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a Shar-Pei, you’d understand!” That is when Ryan made it his goal to play Deadpool on the big screen! And thank god he was persistent. Because it took leaked footage of test shots on the internet for Fox to finally Greenlight the project!
Just when you think the reactions to DEADPOOL are long gone we have Addie coming to bat with a great one! She is always a treat!
Deadpool's 4th wall breaks are my favorite parts. I always lose it when Colossus is dragging Deadpool and says they're going to see Professor X, then Deadpool replies with, "McAvoy or Stewart?" I also lose it when he 4th wall breaks about something outside the MCU when meeting Cable in Deadpool 2
Bravo on catching the Green Lantern as he blipped by in the opening.
"I'd gonna go with you, but i don't wanna" Best line.
Fun reaction, Addie. Deadpool (2016) is my favorite X-Men movie and Ryan Reynolds is very hilarious as this wisecracking, fourth-wall breaking, merc with a mouth. If you loved this movie, you're gonna love Deadpool 2 (2018). BTW, perfect timing for Morena Baccarin's birthday today.
Speaking of Ryan Reynolds, I also suggest Smokin' Aces (2006), Safe House (2012), R.I.P.D. (2013), The Hitman's Bodyguard (2017), Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021), 6 Underground (2019, directed by Michael Bay), Free Guy (2021), Red Notice (2021) and The Adam Project (2022). #MoreRyanReynoldsForAddieCounts
And she'll love Deadpool 3 when that comes out.
For such a ridiculous and violent comedy it really is such a fantastic romance story. They have amazing chemistry.
"Fourth wall break inside a fourth wall break! That's like... 16 walls!"
That is something my dad and I still randomly say to each other now and then.
Your reaction to the line "like a testicle with teeth" was absolutely spot on and hilarious
Great reaction Addie....I loved both Deadpool films (many fans, myself included, hope Deadpool 3 will be just as good) 😎✌️
One of the best LOVE stories of our generation. Awesome characters and overall a fun run-time.
One of my favorite little, subtle, jokes is that, most likely, the reason it took him so long to find Francis is that nobody knew him by that name. They all knew him as Ajax.
the kitty litter reference is a drug joke... cops have mistaken kitty litter for meth before... dude had drugs in the bathroom
People shouldn't blame TIM MILLER for the failure of "Terminator: Dark Fate"
He was the director, not the writer
Killing that one character was James Cameron's idea
Miller deserves another chance because he still got a lot to offer
He not only gave us DEADPOOL, but also SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, directed by his friend, Jeff Fowler
Also, have anyone seen LOVE, DEATH and ROBOTS?
Ryan Reynolds is perfect for this role 👌.
Because he's always had been Deadpool all along. He just wore a Ryan Reynolds mask this entire time, and this movie was the only time he could take it off.
@@Ironmew05 in most of his roles, he’s playing unpowered Deadpool
Ryan reynolds is just the perfect human being
I first saw DP in Van Wilder, and now look at him, he’s finally gonna be MCU adjacent with his DP and Logan movie! Good for him!
The 3rd movie might be shit. Since he can't improv lines anymore. I hope they delay it.
Fun Fact: The serum they give Deadpool that gave him his powers was derived from Wolverine’s blood
Also… dear god is Francis/Ajax a great villain. He’s so despicable
I remember getting emotional when the first piece of “Angel In The Morning” started playing. This was my favorite “superhero” as a kid and that song just confirmed to me this was gonna be funny. Deadpool, Hawkeye, & Venom are those heroes I just love whenever I see them on screen
In the comics and the X-Men origins movie. Here however there is no indication of that. The serum they use, is said and shown to affect everyone differently, rather than the mutant healing factor. Here it's stated to bring out any latent mutant abilities, and Wades happens to be extreme healing. Others are like Ajax, Angel Dust, and the girl with the protrusions which is supposed to be Marrow.
Agreed. (not a big fan of that change to him being a latent mutant) But if you look close there is blood in the serum when they inject it
@@Logan_Baron No, he's a synthetic mutant in this version. More or less a perfected and more safer technique of forced mutation than Magneto's machine in the first movie.
@@nicksmyth4050 He's not a latent mutant. His mutation is synthetic and the reason why it hasn't killed him like Magneto's machine killed Senator Kelly is because his cancer keeps his healing in check.
@@vetarlittorf1807 In the comics his mutation is synthetic, in the movies they say its a serum that unlocks the X-gene already in your system
"I wonder if we'll see any familiar X-men faces?"
Me, waiting for Deadpool to reveal his 'face' to Vanessa - 😏
Nobody tells him where Francis is because he's actually Ajax. He's looking for "the wrong person."
Oh wow, I loved your previous reactions already, but this one was just wonderful. I didn't think anyone could edit all the visual and verbal "controversial" elements, but you (or your video editor) actually did it! Respect. 🙂
To think that we may not have had this film if 'some unknown person' hadnt leaked the highway fight scene and shown the studio how fans would react.
I love how the final fight takes place on a Hellicarrier how they were allowed to use it amazes me
They weren't, so it's not a SHIELD helicarrier. iI you see the engines of the ship pointing downwards, like it could fly, it must be some kind of error, and definitely not a scrapped helicarrier from Winter Soldier... :D
Deadpool is my Number one Super/Anti-Hero he’s just hilarious and awesome with MAXIMUM EFFORT
Negasonic Teenage Warhead was originally a song by Monster Magnet. One of the writers at Marvel was a fan of the song and decided to create the character.
In the comics, Cable is Nathan Summers, son of Scott Summers aka Cyclops.
Yes, there is a Deadpool III on the way. Ryan Reynolds actually talked Hugh Jackman out of Wolverine retirement to reprise the role. Rumor has it that now that they are under the Disney umbrella, that they are trying to pull Tom Holland in as Spider-man. From the comics, Deadpool is a super fanboi of Spider-man.
A light stalker kind of fanboi.
And THAT'S the Deadpool we love! A pretty much faithful adaptation of the comics character, who also breaks the 4th wall all the time and is aware he is a character.
Now you should continue to watch all the X-Men franchise movies in release order before watching Deadpool 2. And I also recommend you to watch John Wick: don't ask me why, you will thank me later (or regret not doing that) when watching the sequel.
One thing I love about this movie... is that Deadpool is killing all the bad guys because he wants to. Because he knows they don't know his name is Francis. They know him only as Ajax. So they have no idea who he's actually asking about. And he knows that.
Deadpool has been (next to spiderman, of which I'm actual lifelong fan 32 years) my favorite superhero since 2004. The greyness of his moral compass is how I wish I could be lol.
Also, the final fight scene was sort of an attempt (or jab at) at trying to get Deadpool canon in the MCU. It takes place on a Shield Helicarrier. I REALLY need to find someone to give me a deadpool tattoo. I have an antihero half-sleeve that I started to work on before covid...
Fun fact: The highway scene at the beginning was animated for some test footage and it got leaked onto the internet somehow. The fans loved it so much they basically forced Fox to make this movie.
Oh, and Ryan Reynolds totally had nothing to do with leaking the footage. Definitely not.
Nope, not at all, totally innocent and uninvolved in the entire thing...
I recommend seeing if you can find the bloopers for this movie they are basically all the different jokes they tried before deciding on what to put in the film
I love when an actor finds "their role", they can most define themselves with. Like James Woods who loves Hades more than any other role
Soooo glad you watched Deadpool AFTER having seen the Xmen movies in order. SO many reactors watch deadpool on its own and they end up missing half the jokes. Idk why they always watch it separate. Deadpool is part of the Xmen world.
That was a Helicarrier from The Winter Soldier they were fighting on at the end. Which means Deadpool and X-men is in the same universe as Captin America
I wasn't sure how you would react to this since it's more violent than you normally would react to. But I'm happy you enjoyed it. Fun reaction. Ryan Reynold was born for this role and he fought so hard to get it made. And Morena Baccarin....so freaking hot! Love it.
Was watching something else and paused immediately when I noticed this.
Awesome! Love this channel and love the Deadpool movies. Addie, you are a Queen. 👑
I love how she missed the joke about the professor..."McAvoy or Stewart?" Lol
Another movie that has this character is the animated movie Hulk vs Wolverine. The voice actor playing Deadpool is Nolan North. He is awesome as the character. The other characters in the movie are the evil Professor Thornton, Lady Deathstrike who is the Japanese woman Wolverine fought in X2, Sabertooth, and Omega Red who is a Russian Super Soldier that went rogue with metal tentacles that can drain your energy.
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!! I was super excited for the Days of Future Past video to get uploaded, and this was a close second! Deadpool 2 is even better, Once Upon A Deadpool being the PG13 version is also a great watch! So glad you enjoyed this one!!
"I guess they kind of take a different approach for Deadpool in these movies."
Um, yep, just a little bit. 🤣🤣🤣
Negasonic is not strong, she's powerful. Her energy manipulation creates powerful explosive blasts
Deadpool compared himself to Ryan Reynolds in the comics before Ryan Reynolds knew who Deadpool was
I was just scrolling through your library lookin for this. AWESOME!!!
I'm so glad you got the ending. I hate seeing reactors who don't know the end of Ferris Beuhler
The references to the failure of green lantern is genius
after watching this movie a bunch of times, i noticed they are fighting on a shield transporter. like the big shield thing nick fury shows up at the end of age of ultron.
Since 1991 I have been a fan of Deadpool. I dig Addie's commentary. RIP DMX and Stan Lee.
The little trumpet fanfare that was briefly on the car radio, reminds me of the _Batman_ theme from the 60s show....
It’s amazing how many people don’t get the Ferris Bueller reference. Love that you did
This is so much closer to the comics. The origin is not exact but the character of Deadpool is so much closer. DP2 is great also.
Addie always seems so sweet and gentle that I honestly didn't know how this reaction would go. You killed it, that was great! I am glad you had as much fun as the rest of us. Yes, this movie gets even better the second time you see it.
You have a few other Marvel films to get through before you hit Deadpool 2, one of those rare sequels that is even better than the original.
the really really weird thing is that the entire relationship is basically based on them just fucking like rabbits. AND YET... it works as a relationship that we care about. it's actually masterful how they pulled that off.
It's because of this film they green lite the R-rated Logan. Fun Factoid - Venessa in the comic books is a mutant called Copy Cat (she had white streaks in her hair too). Did you notice the old SHIELD Helicarrier in the scrap yard?
From what I've read, Wade's healing is basically Logan's but cranked up to eleven and then some. Wolverine can be 'killed' by cutting off his head and keeping them separate, as when they're reunited he'll just heal back. But Deadpool will regenerate to full from even a single cell, so the only way to kill him is to destroy him completely XD
Great reaction. So glad you got to it finally. Made my Friday!!
Good job! Screen size good, light interaction, your easy to look at too. I will be watching more movies with you, let's go!
Just happened to watch this today, so the blink and you'll miss it Sinéad ref at 13:30 meant more than when you put together your edit 😢👍
The agent for Francis/Ajax, I kept asking myself: where did I see that dude before. Galaxy Quest! He’s one of the Thermians with Rainn Wilson.
This has to be the most meta movie I've ever seen.
Fun fact: the final fight is taking place on a crashed Shield Helicarrier. This is the first unofficial crossover between the Fox Universe and the MCU (before Disney bought Fox), as this is a reference to when the helicarriers crashed in Winter Soldier.
Also, when he mentions it was a romance movie, this was released in cinemas on February 14th.
Finally...time for our favourite game; Remind Addie to watch Logan BEFORE watching Deadpool 2, as there is some minor continuity.
Lastly. This movie was created because Ryan Reynolds thought the studio did Deadpool dirty in Origins (which is nothing like his comic character), so made a brief viral video (the scene where he is sat on the bridge, listening to music), and everyone ate it up, which led to the movie being creating.
FINALLY! Been waiting for FOREVER to see your reaction to these two movies!
I absolutely love her laugh/giggle, sounds like a Disney princess
I love your voice its so soothing
Fun reaction Addie
I love this movie so much.
Ryan is ridiculously funny, and Wade's back story is well thought out. There are so many jokes it can take multiple waches to catch them all. Definitely an adult superhero movie, but that fits the character.
The movie is hilarious, but my favorite part is Wade and Vanessa's love story. I also love that it was filmed in my home city of Vancouver BC Canada 🇨🇦. So many tv series and movies are filmed here.
Blind Al was played by Leslie Uggams, not Nichelle Nichols
@@timtreece-hk2gy Yes I realize that and I read many people have made the same mistake.
It's amazing that despite it's historic box office domination, there are folks that still haven't seen it.
Think about it. Deadpool searching for "Francis" asking everyone where he was, Wades so insane he didn't realize no one knew his name was Francis everyone he was asking only knew him as Ajax...
I remember when me and my brother Jake watch this film and we can't help but laugh because the story and character is ridiculously funny and brutal. I can't wait to see Deadpool 3 in the future 😊😅
1 of 3 Rated R movies on Disney+.
These movies are more in line with the comic book character, who knows he's a comic book character...
I remember Reynolds from his Van Wilder days, then his work in the Blade trilogy. He usually plays the sassy smart arse.
Deadpool 2 is more; more dark, more funny, more cultural references. You'll enjoy it.
... A running gag in this movie is that Wade is always asking about Francis, and no one can tell him anything because they all know him as Ajax.
So Deadpool and Deadpool 2 are made by 20th Century Fox, but since Disney purchased the company in 2019, they're doing Deadpool 3 as part of the MCU and in turn the first R-rated MCU movie and it's coming out November 8th 2024
Cant wait for your deadpool 2 reaction! So good
Man ever since i found this channel i've really been addie-cted.
Now you'll see what an actual Deadpool is suppose to be
Haven't even started watching, but I'm worried our Addie won't be the same after this.
I felt that as soon as she didn't cringe at the pulling out joke
