For instance, they left out the fact that he was suffering from Tuberculosis when he performed many of his heroic deeds, and he eventually lost a lung.

My favorite thing is that everyone gets sucked into the big question, "How is Neo still alive after getting killed?" Thing is, a combination of his being the One and Trinity kissing him, it's been called "The Power of Love meets The Power of Logic". Basically one of the gifts of the One is, clearly, to transcend the Matrix being able to tell him that he's dead. He feels her in the real world, and realizes that he's still alive, and that just completely unlocks all his power.
This is not your typical "Power of Love" trope that you see in so many movies. The trope is usually used as a Deus ex Machina, but in this one there is a clear setup and payoff and it is woven into the plot. The Oracle says to Trinity that "The one that you love will be The One". That's why Neo can't die, he MUST be The One because Trinity loves him. It's not the kiss that brought him back to life, it's the creative use of the Chosen One trope.

The best TV sci-fi space western that never was. But, it defied getting the Sleeping Beauty treatment by it's network and ended with a great movie that the diehard fans wished into existence.
It's a shame shows like Firefly don't get support but woke nonsense like She Hulk does. I guess we just have to wait for all the woke film producers like Warner Brothers, Disney and the like to go bust from all their losses, before we can return to normal films.
@@aaronmicalowe Funnily enough, Firefly was rather progressive for it's time - with a strong black female character (Zoe) in the main cast, and a sex-positive message with Inara being a Companion, not to mention the generally anti-capitalism and anti-colonialism themes of the show. But nobody cared, because it was a well-written story, with compelling characters, and perhaps most importantly, it didn't beat you over the head with virtue signaling. It just did it's thing, and let the audience draw their own conclusions.
I got to see a The Matrix at a press screening the week before it opened & it absolutely blew my mind. It was so different to anything that had been seen in such a long time & visually; even now, is stunning to watch. Originally, the scene between Neo & Cypher was much longer & also alluded to why Cypher hates Morpheus & why he wants to be reinserted to The Matrix. The script for the scene went as follows Cypher: I’m going to let you into a little secret here. Now don’t tell him I told you this, but ain’t the first time Morpheus thought he found The One. Neo: Really? Cypher: You bet your ass. It keeps him going. Maybe it keeps all of us going. Neo: How many were there? Cypher: Five. Since I’ve been here. Neo: What happened to them? Cypher: Dead. All dead. Neo: How? Cypher: Honestly. Morpheus. He got them all amped up believing in bullshit. I watched each of them take on an Agent & I watched each of them die. Little piece of advice: you see an Agent, you do what we do; run. Run your ass off. A later scene also had Neo confront Morpheus about him being the sixth & final person who could be The One; this is also hinted at by the child with the spoons…..if you take note of how many spoons he has. Also, if you want a little insight into how the war against the machines began, I highly recommend the two animated shorts The Second Renaissance Pt 1&2. In many ways, those two shorts would make an incredible, live action prequel to The Matrix films…..something I’d happily have sat down to watch, over the terrible fourth film.
He came back from the dead because he realized what Morpheus told him. Some rules can be bent, and some can be broken. He broke the rule of dying in the matrix
I think one of my favorite details that hardly anyone seems to notice in particular, is how right after Neo explodes Agent Smith he flexes and just straight up bends the physical space around him. That's what I think the later movies really got wrong, they act like Neo has this one power that lets him stop bullets, and another that makes him the most OP at kung fu, etc etc... But no, those are just things he can do as a result of being able to bend the entire structure of the Matrix on a whim. Like I get that it's hard to write a story with stakes when you have a character like that, it's the old "superman" problem, but then they either shouldn't have built up Neo this much in the first place or shouldn't have continued to use him as the central focus of the other movies.
I read the title of the vid as Matrix Reloaded so I was happy, then I found out it was just a reupload of your Matrix reaction and I was sad, then I watched the reupload and I'm happy again. Long story short: please do matrix 2&3 as well, I enjoy your reactions :D
Think of the agents like system administrators who pretty much have access and control over your office computer systems. They can jump into user files (people who are "plugged in" to the Matrix) and pretty much do what they want. I likened the "unplugged" users like hackers--they can infiltrate a computer system and wreak havoc (or possibly move around carefully to remain undetected) but may not be able to access key files (the "answers") but they can also be deleted from the system (killed) if they don't get out before the administrators locate and delete them.
My favorite detail that I think most people miss is the fact that the Oracle never told Neo he wasn't the one. She looks at him, he says "ahh" and she says "Hmmm that's interesting, and then you say," and then NEO says "I'm not the one." She responds, "I'm sorry kid, you got the gift, but you're waiting for something." The Oracle never told Neo he wasn't the one.
By kissing him, I think trinity was forcing his real body to breath. It's the body's natural survival mode. His mind was making him believe he was dead. When she cut off his air by kissing him, the body sent a survival mode signal to the brain to take a breath, which also sent the message that he's not really dead. Once he took that breath, his matrix mind figured it out and his special coding kicked in. He got up and took control. The Oracle knew that Trinity would be hesitant to act on her feelings until the appropriate time. So to most people it just seemed like a corny fairytale moment where he wakes from a kiss, but it was actually logical science. Btw...Neo is an anagram for One, as in The One.
except the "she cut off his air by kissing him", which sounds like you don't know how kissing works... except that part, this is actually a nice piece of headcanon which I will gladly take, thank you :)
Let's say your theory works - how could the Oracle, a computer program, know what's going to happen in the future outside of that program in the real world?
@@aaronmicalowe algorithm analysis. Remember, they've lived inside the Matrix for a large period of their lives. It's also how she knew reverse psychology would work on Neo. How Morpheus would sacrifice himself for Neo without hesitation. She knows the system and how the Agents work. Pretty much how Neo could read the system and predict the steps of attack by Agent Smith at the end.
@@aaronmicalowe i don't know, how could predictive algorithms for personalized ads know a woman is pregnant before she does know, just based on a slight change of buying habits/tendencies? and that's just based on few years of only purchases data from a few hundred thousand people, processed by current technology... ...it doesn't seem implausible at all to me (btw i'm a programmer with AI as a hobby) that a sufficiently large neural network would very much be able, from data gathered from all aspects of every second of everyone's whole lives, would be able to: a) conclude Neo is the type of person actually capable of breaking the mind barrier and becoming the one b) conclude that Trinity is the type of person that would fall in love with the type of person that can break through the matrix's mind barrier ...at the very least. at the very, very least. Much more likely, matrix should be able to accurately simulate the rest of someone's life from any point, which makes the whole task we're talking about here absolutely trivial.
I first saw this during its initial theatrical run in 1999. I was in college at the time and had no car, so I walked about 2 hours to the nearest mall to see it. It was totally worth the trip. The Matrix was ASTOUNDING in 1999. There was nothing else like it. I would say that there have been two watershed moments in sci-fi filmmaking over the last 50 years. Star Wars was one and The Matrix was the other. That's how mind-blowing The Matrix was back then.

I don’t think people really talk about this any more but when this movie came out the marketing and trailers were very mysterious about what the movie was about and part of the marketing campaign was that no one can tell you what the matrix is, you have to see it for yourself. It was a really cool approach.
Hugo Weaving should have given oscars for being in the most increadible trilogies in human histories! The Oracle gave the Neo a substance program as cookie. Trinity's kiss triggered the process and he became the One. Hope you gonna watch second and third movies lady.
The best part always comes after seeing the movie, in real life, when you realize over time that the Matrix is absolutely real. Welcome to the world as it really is 🙂
Hehe.. for a minute.. thought the matrix glitched and I had 'deja vu'. For some reason I read 'RELOADED' (instead of re uploaded). Guess I can't wait to see you continue your journey into the matrix trilogy.. lol
There is an earlier SF movie called "Dark City" which which explores some of the same concepts as The Matrix, but in a film noir setting. I think that you might also like it. The Matrix reused some of the other film's sets.
How is he still alive? Without head trauma, the brain can live 6-10 minutes after death. So his brain was still functioning, and his subconscious heard her. Plus their power together, love.
I see so many people complain about the kiss. Anyone else notice how Morpheus stands in the same pose as belzebub when neo is first introduced to the matrix, moprheus stands there in a weird stance.
"Oh, so he just has to decide that's who he is?" Quite the opposite - he just has to not have to decide. As soon as you're deciding, you're going against something. The act of deciding acknowledges there's a different reality to what you are deciding, thus acknowledging and creating the whole fight you vs. reality, which you will inevitably lose. What you need to do is just do the thing, without deciding or thinking whether it will work or not. Same as Neo did when he dodged those bullets. He didn't decide, nor think about it, he had no time for that. He just did it.
"I'm not the one" "Sorry kid, you've got the gift. But it looks like you're waiting for something." She didn't actually say he wasn't the one, just that he wasn't ready to understand that he was.

And the Agent Smith is a program who don't want to stay in the Matrix because once he do his job, he's gonna be deleted. So he want to escaped to the Matrix through Zion. 24:25 : the famous "Bullet Time" that get used by so many after that. 1999 was the years of the FX with Matrix.
No one ever notices on a first watch-through that the Oracle says he won’t be The One “in this lifetime.” Well, he died and then came back, so it is a new lifetime.
My favourite bit of your video was when you didn't know who the good guys and bad guys were. Thank you for reminding me how amazing this movie was the first time.
Something I find interesting is that originally the concept of the Matrix was not that it used the humans bioelectricity as a powersource, that was a change that came because executives thought audiences wouldn't understand the original concept. Originally the Matrix used the humans brains as processing power, literally robbing humanity of their brain power & their ability to think & be aware. That's why you see Neo just sitting at his desk with the monitor off just before Morpheus sends him the phone, he was just sitting there not thinking because the Matrix was using his brain power to process data. This explains why becoming conscious of the truth lets people affect the Matrix, because their brains could be used to manage the reality of the Matrix when they're unconscious rather then actually sleep.
As an Australian, I see him as so much more than 'just' Elrond and Agent Smith, but I still love that he's getting so much love from all over the world.
I concur 🥰
@@aaronmicalowe Funnily enough, Firefly was rather progressive for it's time - with a strong black female character (Zoe) in the main cast, and a sex-positive message with Inara being a Companion, not to mention the generally anti-capitalism and anti-colonialism themes of the show.
But nobody cared, because it was a well-written story, with compelling characters, and perhaps most importantly, it didn't beat you over the head with virtue signaling. It just did it's thing, and let the audience draw their own conclusions.
@@LadyDoomsinger just goes to show we can be representative without being woke.
Love listening to your voice Addie .. it’s soothing
7:15 "It just keeps going, and going and going." Well, that's the slogan for Energizer and Morpheus shows a Duracell, but... yeah, pretty much... :)
The script for the scene went as follows
Cypher: I’m going to let you into a little secret here.
She was pretty much speechless the entire time, that's how I was when I first saw this movie.
Hopefully it stays up this time... as well as T2 when it comes back. 🤞
He came back from the dead because he realized what Morpheus told him. Some rules can be bent, and some can be broken. He broke the rule of dying in the matrix
Well, the bullet are not even real. So he can't litteraly died :)
That wibble of the wall always thrilled me because of that!
I read the title of the vid as Matrix Reloaded so I was happy, then I found out it was just a reupload of your Matrix reaction and I was sad, then I watched the reupload and I'm happy again.
Long story short: please do matrix 2&3 as well, I enjoy your reactions :D
I thought the same thing lol
that bug in the belly button is my absolute worst nightmare. I have a deep fear of belly button trauma lmao
Great reaction Addie! I just watched this recently too and it blew my mind! I agree it was definitely a lot to take in😆
My favorite detail that I think most people miss is the fact that the Oracle never told Neo he wasn't the one. She looks at him, he says "ahh" and she says "Hmmm that's interesting, and then you say," and then NEO says "I'm not the one." She responds, "I'm sorry kid, you got the gift, but you're waiting for something."
The Oracle never told Neo he wasn't the one.
29:15: "isn't that the room from earlier?" yes. Good catch.
Orrr, it could be that; “Death cannot stop true love. All it can do is delay it for a while.”
except the "she cut off his air by kissing him", which sounds like you don't know how kissing works... except that part, this is actually a nice piece of headcanon which I will gladly take, thank you :)
@@aaronmicalowe i don't know, how could predictive algorithms for personalized ads know a woman is pregnant before she does know, just based on a slight change of buying habits/tendencies?
and that's just based on few years of only purchases data from a few hundred thousand people, processed by current technology...
...it doesn't seem implausible at all to me (btw i'm a programmer with AI as a hobby) that a sufficiently large neural network would very much be able, from data gathered from all aspects of every second of everyone's whole lives, would be able to:
a) conclude Neo is the type of person actually capable of breaking the mind barrier and becoming the one
b) conclude that Trinity is the type of person that would fall in love with the type of person that can break through the matrix's mind barrier
...at the very least. at the very, very least.
I got stood up on a first date to go see this movie opening night. since she didn't show, I went anyway, forgot my wallet, which had my barracks key card. found out when I got to the theater, had to go track down someone to open my room. got back to the theater just in time for the last showing of the night.
I still have Matrix code as my phone lock screen.
2:51 That was my first cell phone! I was spoiled as a teen. But at least, it was a real phone, not a portable computer you can't live without.
😂😂😂 I love your reactions
'What is happening!!!'
Loved your reaction, Addie! If you haven't watched V for Vendetta, I would highly recommend it. Hugo Weaving plays one of the protagonists. It's an amazing film. I would also recommend that you do some Jackie Chan films. Here's a few ideas to get you started on HIM:
Rumble in the Bronx
First Strike
Who am I?
Operation Condor 2
Drunken Master (1978)
Rush Hour trilogy
Shanghai Noon/Knights
I know there are reasons to have to reupload a previous video, but the excitement for a new video that is then followed by the disappointment of having already seen it, is too much to bear! LOL!
This movie was so ahead of it's time and is still awesome to this day. The easiest way I think to explain the matrix is like using VR in a video game.
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it.
The greatest philosophical movie ever made
Love your channel. Thank you 🤩
thank you for this! really enjoyed your react, you are amazing :)
Great reaction, great editing.
you can see the crimps of the blanks in the slow-mo of Smith shooting Neo.
Nice editing 👌
Can't wait for the next one.
Simply a great movie.
Wonderful reaction, as usual.
A really cool and very early Hugo Weaving movie is a movie called Proof. It stars Weaving and Russell Crowe before either were big names.
The best part always comes after seeing the movie, in real life, when you realize over time that the Matrix is absolutely real. Welcome to the world as it really is 🙂
Neo becomming the one was the exact feeling as Goku going super saiyan for audiences
Hehe.. for a minute.. thought the matrix glitched and I had 'deja vu'.
At 4:43 in the video, “Oh no”
That’s probably the most authentic reaction I’ve seen so far in regards to the “navel bug” scene.
How is he still alive? Without head trauma, the brain can live 6-10 minutes after death. So his brain was still functioning, and his subconscious heard her. Plus their power together, love.
I see so many people complain about the kiss. It's not the kiss that brought him back to life, it's the creative use of the Chosen One trope, another trope that other movies tend to overuse, but in this one they added several layers to it.
Hah! You did it, can finally watch it 🥳 Thanks for the effort! The Matrix - Reuploaded
Anyone else notice how Morpheus stands in the same pose as belzebub when neo is first introduced to the matrix, moprheus stands there in a weird stance.
8:00
You are one of the best reactors. Thanks.
Where’s 2 and 3 ))): loved this
You need to watch the other 3 movies, they are really good movies
One of my favorite movies
"Oh, so he just has to decide that's who he is?"
Quite the opposite - he just has to not have to decide.
I love how Neo flexes the ENTIRE HALLWAY
Thanks for making it clear it's a reupload right up front in the title.
"I'm not the one"
"Sorry kid, you've got the gift. But it looks like you're waiting for something."
She didn't actually say he wasn't the one, just that he wasn't ready to understand that he was.
Trivia. Neo is also an anagram of "one", a reference to his destiny of being The One who would bring peace.
Thanks for sharing❤
Just found your channel. Awesome reaction, welcome to the real world! ✌🏼
31:30 You cannot be told what the Matrix is... you have to see it for yourself
V for Vendetta is one of my favorite movies. Hugo Weaving is very good in it.
I don't know if you're going to be able to but in case you're not doing anything Regal cinemas are rereleasing this in theaters across the US on April 3rd and 4th. Highly recommend checking it out if you can.
16:45 “it looks like you’re waiting for something.”
“What?”
“Your next life maybe.” … I’ll come back to this later.
24:26 “What are you trying to tell me, that I can dodge bullets?”
30:08 “No Neo, I’m trying to tell you that when you’re ready, you won’t have to.”
29:35 Neo’s “current” life just ended…
29:59 … and his “next life” has begun.
8:20 : Before watch Matrix 2, go watch Animatrix to know "What happen" 😉😊
18:47 : An Agent is a program who can use a body of any human connected to the Matrix. He can used human like a camera and take his/her place. But when they died, in real , it's the human who die only.
Saludó desde la República Dominicana excelente vídeo👍🏿🇩🇴
The last 2 are just as good and in some cases better
This is a mindblown type of movie. Imagine people walking out of the theater thinking "Wtf did I just see!?!?" hehe
The room with the many monitors..an important detail, but at the time when we watched the first movie, there was no way to know it!
As for "Elrond" ... have you seen "V for Vendetta" yet? It's excellent.
She will always remember the 5th of November...... 😂
Elrond? Some of us watched "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" prior to either.
No one ever notices on a first watch-through that the Oracle says he won’t be The One “in this lifetime.” Well, he died and then came back, so it is a new lifetime.
07:08: "Oh, it just keeps going. And going and going. . ."
Well. . . you're not wrong.
Y'know, because they're batteries?
This film was mind blowing and so cool 😎 it was most successful 90's movies.
My favourite movies of his, though, would have to be Proof and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of The Desert (with Guy Pearce and Terrence Stamp). I also love that his niece Samara is getting some pretty great roles too.
"Equilibrium" is another pretty good movie (similar to the Matrix)
Good job ginger girl. I like your surprise at what you already know. There is no spoon. More Hugo? "V for vendetta", "Hacksaw Ridge".
