The music is at first bizarre and terrifying, and as the game progresses, you feel a strange affection for it.

Its sounds broken and a mess, but then as you progress through and see the drawn environment, I see as childish and playful, which fits Arnold's personality and look.
He may look horrifying and disturbing, but really he's just in his own little world enjoying himself and having fun making music.

I honestly had a peculiar idea about such a segment. A character like Arnold that's not good at playing the piano, learns from someone else's experience, gets the right angle for his arms to play that piano...then suddenly transitions to expertly playing Hold the Line by Toto, even having a good singing voice while singing the chorus while going down the elevator.

I have a theory…
Based on Sesame Street’s “Elmo’s World” segment, where Elmo would typically sing along and play his own theme in the beginning, is this song supposed to be what Arnold’s theme song was supposed to be? Arnold obviously isn’t the best piano player indicated by this song, and my best guess is that he’s trying to play the song from memory but it doesn’t sound right.
