    Just spent this weekend there at the red squirrel campsite. And fortunately we got incredible weather. Clear sun.
    Even as a Scotsman, the scenery at the Great Glen still blows mind.
    Looks almost like a movie backdrop.
    I hope the midges were kind you guys.
    They feasted on me. Glen coe is worth it though. Great video😎

      Sounds like you had a really fun visit! 😀 Luckily we didn't suffer from midges when we visited in early November in this video...but we've also had the pleasure of visiting Glencoe in August 2018 and the midges were much worse then for sure!

    I'm loving your travel vids, I've watched a few of them now and even though I'm British I'm seeing places that I've either never seen before or haven't been to for decades.
    At 2.56 there was a perfect opportunity to say " You'll take the high road and I'll take the low road".........They even wrote a song about it ;) . I'm looking forwards to watching the rest of your videos and of course I have subbed.

    I'm a Scot and live just outside Glasgow. Glen Coe is my (and my wife's) happy place. We love it😍! We visit it around 4/5 times a year😀!
    Might just be be beyond my ageing body now, but I have climbed most of the mountains in Glen Coe and surrounding area, although there are many less strenuous walks in the area as you discovered.
    Visiting in November you managed to avoid the dreaded midges!!!
    I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.

    • @MeansToTravel

      Wow, that's so impressive that you've been able to climb all of the mountains in Glen Coe! Did you have a favorite of them all?
      I'm really jealous that you get to visit that area so often...I've been blessed to have visited Glencoe three times, but I could go back again and again! Thanks so much for watching and leaving a note about your experiences! 😀

      My favourite was a three summit hike, which is mostly hidden behind the Three Sisters if standing in the Three Sisters carpark. The mountains are Stob Coire nan Lochan, Bidean nam Bian (the highest mountain in Argyll) and Stob Coire Sgreamhach. The descent is through the well known Lost Valley. An epic 7hr hike which I did with a pal and my then 11year old grandson.
      Was in Fort William two weeks ago with my wife and stopped on the way at the famous (well to Scottish outdoor lovers at least 😅) Clachaig Inn. Walked up to Loch Achtriochtan and then An Torr and Signal Rock. Done this walk many times but never tire of it.

    Sounds like you guys had a wonderful trip to Glencoe. We did not spend time there. Just passing through. However , we did do Loch Ness and visited Loch Ness and the Museum or info center. We toured the Highlands a bit. One day we will return and do Glencoe. Great job in showing it to us. Lots of love to you. 🙏🙏🙏 Harriet, Jim and Yuki. Richmond, Va.

    The spiky stick plant / weed is a Bramble the fruit of the Bramble is the Blackberry , Blackberry's are used for jam , pies and many types of drinks . They grow all over the UK and you pick them all over the place . Nice video by the way .

      Thanks for letting us know what the spiky plant was! There are ton's of blackberries in the Pacific Northwest in the US, but I suppose they're less common where we live in Chicago. Great to have the inside scoop! 😀

      growing up my parents had 5 kids and not much money (north of the uk) so every late summer we all went "brambling" with tubs, we did this for weeks then did the salted water trick to kill bugs.. then froze them to last all winter so we had fruit.... we also had large gardens so masses of potatoes stored to last all winter, at 4yrs old i was milking goats and killing chickens for sunday lunch....

    Scotland doesn't have streams, we have burns.

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад

      Huh, interesting, what is a burn?

    • @graemefoxworthy2785
      @graemefoxworthy2785 Год назад

      @@MeansToTravel A burn is the Scottish name for a stream. Also, when doing any kind of hiking in Scotland, especially on non marked trails, I would recommend that you buy an Ordnance Survey explorer map of the area and a compass. When you buy the paper map it includes a mobile download code for the area to be used with the OS app. The explorer maps show much more information than google maps.
