    I don't travel as much as you do but we have a boat and SO many of your travel things/hacks work well for us. We love the collapsible hangers and the clotheslines. I am buying the paper detergent asap as I love water free (aka less heavy and bulky) cleaning supplies. Also, I am sure you have heard this before but your voice reminds me of Leslie Mann and that is a compliment, because I love her.

      What a great point! A lot of these can be helpful for car trips and boats, too! Thanks so much for watching!

    Nice tips! I'd like to add that depending on trip length & personal needs, I find using a peeler like you'd use for carrots works well to peel off thin pieces of a bar of soap which can be stored in a plastics ziplock or other plastic sealable bag. Cetaphil works great since it's gentle for face and body plus can be used in a pinch for washables in a sink. Blessings! ✈️☮️

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад +2

      I've never tried using soap shavings for individual uses before! What a great tip to try, thank you! 😀 I actually have the Cetaphil hydrating face bar and wouldn't have thought to use it for laundry but I can totally see how that might work if needed. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    I like the multi tool - the air tags.. not a huge fan, all it does for me is tell me that the luggage arrived, or on a recent flight to LA from Australia has me aware my luggage was still in Australia and I was annoyed for 14 hours lol

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад

      Haha oh nooooo this made me chuckle, but also of course made me feel so sad!!! What an ordeal! That would have been devastating! But I suppose at bare minimum, when you arrived and your bags weren't there, you at least knew exactly where the bags were vs. feeling frantic when working it out with the airlines. 🙏

    I carried a Kitsch conditioner bar on our recent 12 day trip to Italy. It worked great as a shave bar too. The Kitsch shampoo bars are great. I think I’ll get the clarifying shampoo bar next time. The hard water did a number on my hair by the end 😂. I took half of the bar soaps in one container and it was more than enough for the trip.

    Hi @MeansToTravel
    Thank you for the video, definitely, there are a bunch of great ideas. I am going to visit family in Mexico for Christmas and I want to try to travel carry-on only. I have seen that you have a video for holiday (Christmas) gift ideas. However, I would love to see if you could make a video related to the things we carry-on packers can gift to adults and children that are traveler friendly to be able to transport but still lovely presents. Have you ever been in that situation where you have to bring gifts for your loved ones? thank you so much I love your videos

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад

      Oooo that's a tough one. Yes, we have experience with this. We travel to see family in Arizona every year for Christmas, and we usually always check *_at least_* one bag just in case we are given gifts that we can't carry home in carry ons...or bring a folding duffel that we could check on the way home. Also, it's important to remember that you can't bring wrapped gifts in carry-on luggage per the TSA rules, so your wrapping materials would also need to be in your bags. I suppose you could just give gift cards or cards with money if you want to bring all of your gifts with you? Another option would be to order all of your gifts online, and then have the boxes delivered to your family's home but with the packages addressed in your names so they know to put them aside and not open them (this is what we usually do). _OR_ you could buy all of your gifts early and mail them to your family's home many weeks ahead of Christmas to make sure they arrive around the time you do. I hope at least one of these solutions will work!!!

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад

      Thank you so much!!! I actually designed it myself at a jewelry show that I attend every year! I bought an adjustable silver chain from one vendor, and then hand-picked a Japanese akoya pearl from my favorite wholesale pearl vendor, who I then had drill me a custom-fit hole and string the pearl in real time. I’ve actually been thinking about working with the vendors to produce more of these and sell them myself, so maybe I should consider doing that more strongly! It’s perfect for travel! 😊

    Question. How did you handle sun block??

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад

      Thank you! For my month-long trip to Europe when I filmed this video, I bought sunblock in The Netherlands for my checked bag before going to Greece. If I know I will need a lot of spf on a trip, I usually budget for buying some at the destination. Otherwise, I just pack my Elta MD face sunscreen, use a powder sunscreen for touch ups, and/or have a travel size spf bottle or stick for my body. Hope that helps!

    Lovely video, and some good tips. Would like to add one more thing: the adapter you showed is not suitable for the UK (you mentioned that you can use it for all of Europe, and although they left the Euro, they are still in Europe 😂)

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад

      Yes so true, there are lot's of nuances to consider! For example, Ireland is in the EU but uses Type G plugs like the UK. That said, what's great is that it's possible to buy whichever adapters you need from Vintar based on the countries you're traveling to! Their product page has options for Types C, G, J, E/F, and more 😀

    hi. mountain spring water doesn't need filter its super drinkable

    • @MeansToTravel
      @MeansToTravel  Год назад +1

      Depends on the mountain most likely, and if you’re getting the water directly at the source or downstream. I’d never recommend drinking straight from a fresh water source that you find in nature, in case of fecal matter contamination (or many other environmental toxins). This is especially true if your body is accustomed to normally drinking treated or filtered water sources, such as most American tap water.

    • @somehappenings246
      @somehappenings246 8 месяцев назад

      If an animal died upstream, or someone used the bathroom too close to water source,…. The filter will take care of that

    Thank you for sharing. Quite a few items in your video that I haven’t seen elsewhere. The bar bags are something I had been thinking about. Have you tried any of the kitsch bar shampoos or conditioners? I’d like to get an honest opinion before investing in any. I’ve been thinking of going that route to keep them in the toiletry bag, ready to go at a moment’s notice. I found a similar bar holder/drier thing recently at a grocery store while traveling and picked it up, my husband thought it was genius. Thanks again, I’ve subscribed to your channel.

Otherwise, there is a black version of the foldable/packable one that Derek carries around on Amazon! The link to that one is here: amzn.to/3Y2JB0n

      Haha yes! It sounds like a lot up front, but I did the math and realized it’s soooo much cheaper long-term to get reusable soap cases than constantly buy new body washes every time I travel. If you don’t travel often or for extended periods, it might not be worth it.
      And I’m currently staying in an airbnb in Europe with my friends that only had a tiny bit of soap, so I can confirm that not everywhere supplies enough soap for people.
