This makes for highly efficient computing on my limited battery. - I am a retro gamer, with all original japanese retro hardware for my gaming, and a CRT. I have never been a pc gamer, this is my first PC with a graphcis card since the early 00's when I was playing KOTOR II and Frable II. Ironically, my first game on this GPU was Dragon Quest 11. - I got the i7 with all the bells and whistles - I purchased a 4tb 2.5" samsung SSD, because I have full libraries of my video game backups for many consoles including PS3, so the space and transfer speed is greatly needed. Loving having all my ROMs and ISOs in one place! - I got the LG ultragear 24" 1920x1080 144hz monitor, which doesn't have GSYNC unfortunately, but the other features (like external 19vdc PSU) was the reason I picked it. Looking good! No screen tearing on anything so far. - I use an offline cloner to clone the 2.5" SSD to a 4TB full size HDD for easy backups. - I have the minisforum pc mounted near my custom made rear intake vents for proper air circulation-- this thing functions as a mini heater while gaming, lol! - I use a keychron keyboard over bluetooth, an elecom huge trackball with usb dongle, and the new 8bitdo pro 2 controller over bluetooth - I did have to purchase a full size SD card reader and usb hub - I wanted to mount it to the back of my monitor, but that's a little tricky so I've mounted it to the shelf instead. Might rig something up to mount it to the monitor at some point. - the Elitemini X400 that was teasted in this video would be so perfect for me, unfortunately it's not out, and I needed a pc right away...... Maybe if it comes out soon I can return this one and get the X400... I guess one thing I've noticed that was unexpected is the storage it came with (kingston 500gb ssd) is always quite hot, ranging from 55-69 degrees, while my 2.5" is cool. Not sure why it's so hot, but GPU and CPU temperature directly affects it. The most taxing game I've been playing (for over 10 hours) has been Dragon Quest 11 definitive edition. It can't handle full resolution, but at 85% resolution I have all other graphics post processing settings at max, and I'm very fine with this, getting stable framerates in the 70's at 90% GPU useage, GPU using 65watts. I'm not into most AAA western games, but hopefully I will be able to play Elden Ring, if that ever comes out. For emulation, this thing does it all. But I don't emulate often, since I prefer original hardware (I do retro game mods and repair professionally, and in the van I have every console, fully modded and running my game backup libraries, displaying on a CRT) - I'll say it again, the 8bitdo pro 2 is awesome - this PC's form factor is similar to that of the 1987 NEC PC Engine console, closer to two of them stacked on top of eachother. - Also been playing Dark Souls Remastered, which, after a little GPU settings switches, runs perfectly. all in all I wish it was Ryzen, I wish it had slightly more power, but still this CPU was a huge step up from the x220 for general computing. The GPU can play Dragon Quest 11 much better than a Nintendo Switch, in the same ballpark as the PS4 if not better. I was also looking at the NUC Phantom, could have gone either way, but I went with this one, and I'm quite pleased. For my off-grid lifestyle, it is ideal. My dad lives in a similar off-grid van life situation, but he is a major Apple fanboy, so he of course has the Mac Mini (non-ARM). Since I use a lot of video game ROM utilities like patchers, ISO managers, flash cart services, and chip burners, I require windows. In many ways, gaming is just a bonus on this thing, since, again, I'm not into any of the games where you point realistic guns at stuff. Thanks for the great videos, otherwise, I wouldn't have even known where to begin buying my first gaming PC in 20 years! If I can't play Elden Ring at all, then we'll have a problem... Hopefully by the time that game comes out, the chip shortage will be lessened, the PS5 slim will be out, or... I'll be purchasing an XBOX....
Turns out the miniDP is USELESS as it's not supported by the discreet graphics card. Customer support said this to me. They said in order to use two monitors or miniDP at all, I would have to uninstall the discreet graphics card and install integrated graphics CPU. This is major false advertisement. I am overall happy with my funny little gamecube, but really disappointed by this. I've been playing Sekiro, Dark Souls III, Metro 2033, Halo MCE, The Evil Within, RE7, basically anything I throw at it, it can handle at max settings and stable framerate 60 or above, just sometimes with resolution down to 720p.
@@dmdwst8787 Are you stupid or just trolling? 2.1Gbps beating almost anything else out there, especially Team Elite and Sandisk trash. You've got the samsung evo's, some WD prototype nonsense, and...what else beats that on performance? Whole lot of nothing. Stop talking out your ass.
I'd throw it in a briefcase with a built in monitor and keyboard, or perhaps in its own custom carry case. Take it with me on business trips and visits to family as a mobile gaming PC. Take it to LAN parties if there are still any LAN parties in the post-COVID world. That thing looks perfect for someone who needs to game on the go but doesn't want or need a laptop and its batteries.
It should be noted that VESA mounting it to the back of the monitor would cut down heavily on perceived noise by making the display a barrier to sound transmission, especially without a wall right behind it as well.
Watch out for this company, they're liars. I've ordered their Ryzen 3550H PC some time ago. I wonder if you would consider doing a vid on energy efficient ones for portable use on limited power such as solar? Basically for those of us who dream of having a pc that we can upgrade down the road so no laptops. Considering the amount of younger people going nomadic living out of a camper or a van laterly, it can be a bit of a challenge trying to figure out how to power a gaming (or other heavy use such as vid editing) pc in there. I'm currently living in a pop up camper that I'm heavily modifying to be solid and very well insulated. I plan to get a medium solar battery (Like Goal Zero) or just build my own lead acid battery setup to save on cost. I'm currently using a basic acer laptop which have been working somewhat okay but I would love to have something much stronger and a barebone kit in this vid seems perfect. Plus the opportunity to find a much better screen than my laptop. I'm just not sure at all if it's the best option regarding power drains for the performance.
*"CPU fan fluctuations..."* My Ryzen R9-3900x did the same thing, even in light usage. The ONLY solution I really found was to put a much better Noctua cooler on it (which reduced but not completely solve the issue) then to keep the fans at 30% and DELAY ramping up until as late as possible which was something like 30% until around 65degC then ramping up to 80degC at 70% of max. Normally I'd go to 100% fan speed but I got occasional jumps past 80degC that were just spikes that triggered fans to ramp up for a small time (even with the "delay" set in the Asus AI Suite 3's fan control software)... in light load I still get spikes past 70degC all the time but those spikes are now basically inaudible as they are good Noctua fans spinning in the 40% to 50% max RPM range.
I love how you can mount it on the monitor.

But I don't emulate often, since I prefer original hardware (I do retro game mods and repair professionally, and in the van I have every console, fully modded and running my game backup libraries, displaying on a CRT)
- I'll say it again, the 8bitdo pro 2 is awesome
- this PC's form factor is similar to that of the 1987 NEC PC Engine console, closer to two of them stacked on top of eachother.

I mean the 660p is one of the slowest, most entry-level nvmes tbf.
Ayyyye so this is what it feels like to be early to a linus vid.
It’s weird. I know.

I'm having a field day, reporting them all!
Engineer reviews feed back: "The power plug is susceptible to flower pots". Wut? Of Linus....
I was expecting some joke like:
"Oh its so tiny.
-Thats what she said"
It should be noted that VESA mounting it to the back of the monitor would cut down heavily on perceived noise by making the display a barrier to sound transmission, especially without a wall right behind it as well.
Have you guys noticed how fucking amazing the transition have gotten?

Watch out for this company, they're liars. I've ordered their Ryzen 3550H PC some time ago. At first they promised to ship it from warehouse in EU, later they changed their mind and have sent it from Taiwan, while promising to cover import tax. At the end they don't respond on indegogo and ignore emails.

Baby bottoms around the world envy the smoothness of Linus' segways.

Is it good?
'No, but it is diminutive and proprietary!'
*"CPU fan fluctuations..."*
My Ryzen R9-3900x did the same thing, even in light usage.
