I did this today on my Limited, thanks for posting this video, it gave me the courage to try it. About an hour, and a few cuss words later she sounds great. 👍
Great video, I used auger bit to separate the pieces, and then a shop vac and metal coat hanger to pull pieces out. Gives your Harley crackle and takes away that muffled sound .
Yes catalytic convertor can be remove with the pipes on bike. Just removed from my 2018 CVO Roadglide with Cobra Neighour Haters.$80 of tools and under 2 hours work. Thank You.
Did the same thing with my road king only thing different, I used a 1" metal hole saw with an extension then used a12" saw saw blade making a cris cross cut then rounded the cut. All with in an hour.
Hi, thank you for your video. I'm also considering to dig out my CC from RE Himalayan, the CC is located in the down pipe In a slightly swollen section of the pipe. My question.. remove the CC will leave the swollen section with nothing, can this have a negative effect on the exhaust? Is it necessary to replace the swollen section with a tube of the same size for the entire length? Or is it safe to stay with the swollen section? Thanks in advance
I just decatted my exhaust the same way through that hole. It's a lot of work but it can be done. Before anybody cries about how it will make my bike run I actually adapted that same generation Dyna Low Rider exhaust to an older bike 03 Dyna that was never made to have a catalytic converter or O2 sensors. Runs great and sounds great even with that later model stock Muffler..

Sean buttler stay off my page you're obviously trying to convince someone you're intelligent. I'm a mechanic. When you choke out an engine you don't get the full potential of the motor. Maybe you think it feels faster lol.... dude if someone rides or drives something more often than not and they add on something or adjust something out of the norm then take it for a spin, obviously they'd know above all or anyone else if their machine is driving or riding differently whether it be positive or negatively! Your right though, dynos don't lie but neither does common sense my friend but I'm sure they all appreciate your advice.
Removing a cat makes power and so does a header and slip on You need to tune a bike when you mess with the cat or header period Dunno why there’s a misconception All emissions systems choke bikes and cars period lol
My decat cost me less than ten quid on amazon - random exhaust repair/link pipe and a hacksaw. Thankfully, no emissions tests for motorcycles in the UK! Probably still wrap it to hide it from the police 😂
I would be remiss if I did not educate those about the materials in a catalytic converter. The catalyst is made of the platinum group metals; Pt, Pd & Rh. These three metals are heavy metals and will cause heavy metal poisoning. The exposure you would get tearing into the catalytic converter is far from safe. Just buy an exhaust. Don't expose yourself to heavy metals.
Do you know how many ancient cities are under the ocean due to climate change? Pre industrial revolution. Not that clean air is bad. The pandemic and shutdown mean less air pollution and the planet got hotter. Nature is a powerful force.
Sean Butler the heat is no longer building up under your feet if you remove the blockage from your exhaust that is directly under your feet. It’s common sense and proven.
This increases particulate pollution dramatically and is the reason why so many cities in Asia have such worse smog despite having many fewer cars than comparable western cities wih many cars. Though I suppose its a moot point if you don't live in a city.

Any time you play with a header or cat it has to be tuned period

Where?
If we remove the cat converter and install the aftermarket exhaust in bike.. does it effects the engine
With a tune or dynojet yes, u get more power. Jus removing cat doesnt however
The cat material is ferrous? I thought it was like an aluminum foam...
