- Here is how I take off a head pipe to remove the catalytic converter. Its really not that hard but takes some time. Thank you for watching and let me know if you have any questions!!!

Just want to go record and say, if you're with end this guy's area, he knows his stuff and is great on his pricing, and a great guy to boot! 👍👍
Thank you. I am wanting to look at my cam chain tensioners 2010. Video beats reading for disassembly
Awesome thank you
What socket do you use for removing head bolts from the cylinder heads?
What tipe of welding do I need to welding back the plate?
That paint color though 😍
Yes it is pretty
i got this far to decat mine, but when i pulled the rear heat shield i found a non-stock weld line, so i stuck in a broomstick to find the prior owner already had done it ... bonus!
You didn't show much time to removing the forward head bolts. Looking at my 2010 Limited it seem tight trying to access them. Was it tight on the RK you were demonstrating with?
Yes it was a bear to get to. Use 1/4” drive sockets with short extensions. It gets in there much easier. Just did it on my 14 ultra limited last weekend which has less room because of the lowers. I used a wrench on the front bottom bolt because I couldn’t get in with a socket.
So I have a question was the bike louder, faster, or need a tune after the removal of the cat. I for one am all about doing something if its going to make it louder or faster. The good thing about my Shovel is it came before catalytic converters, but lacks the cop shocks, cop suspension, cop motor...but it runs best on high octane leaded race gas.
Chuck Habrack it was definitely louder and he has a Vance and Hines fuel pack that he can tune through a app on the phone. Sweet setup
It is louder Chuck but with a sweet tone. And with the stage one setup you only gain about 10% horsepower and torque. (I think)
@@YogisCycleService That is what the video was missing, I get the not showing reinstall unless there was something that needs to be known. Also even a still of the finished bike would be cool. I want to see if you put the air cleaner cover on upside down. LOL But when you do a major change where a tune could be needed that last bit should be part of the video unless there is a follow up because of other work. Its kind of like eating diner and no desert. Just my feedback. Other idea, Vlog the test ride...
@@carolinarider5237 Nothing like freeeing up a few HP on the cheap. Not that a fuel pack is cheap but at least you didnt have to drop a grand on pipes. BTW that color combo looks nice. A dyno tune could be in order to gain the most MPG and power.
@@chuckhabrack3330 Thanks! on the bike comment. and yeah I'm wanting to go ahead and get a dyno done on it, I guess by HD. And the Vance and Hines fuel pack has a auto tune function that I haven't done yet that learns your riding style and will adjust for better performance. And yes it really has freed it up. That's the 1st Foundation step in case I want to do a stage 2 3 or 4
Sir ...is it required to replace the crush gaskets in there ? Thanks
I am not 100% on manufacturing specs but my rule of thumb is if the same pipe is going on and off and it’s not damaged it’s ok to leave alone. If I am switching head pipes to a new pipe or it gets damaged in the swap then replace. This bike had low miles and the gasket was in good shape so I just left it alone and it does not appear to have any exhaust leaks
Good question thank you for commenting
Bro, do you not have a lift at ur shop so u don’t have to crawl and lay on the ground?
Keith K yes but there was other bikes on them so I just kept this on the floor.
Does the Floor Board need to be removed to get Exhaust out ?
This one I believe did yes
@@YogisCycleService I have the Vance & Hines 2 into 1 Big Exhaust, I just want to wrap in with Tape and Spray with that special sealant.
Hello Yogi..Eternal Brotherhood MC
Awesome!! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Do he have a tuner on it or do it need retuned
The Blue Bike & Doyle he had a Vance and Hines fuelpack in it already since he had a stage 1 air cleaner. In my opinion taking out the cat converter providing nothing else was done probably leaned it some but not enough to require a retune. Since he had the Vance and Hines tuner he went ahead and downloaded a new map anyway on his phone and updated it.
@@YogisCycleService
Cool im seeing a lots of head pipes on ebay with the catalyst cut out
The Blue Bike & Doyle yes there are. There is also a company out there where you can buy them for $150 without the cat and when you send yours back to them they credit you $75. Cool concept
@@YogisCycleService i was thinking i could do it myself
The Blue Bike & Doyle if I knew how to weld I would do more but I haven’t played with that much so I don’t want to take that on at this time. I have a son going to welding school now so I am thinking more opportunities can open up in the future.
my damn crossover cracked.. time to R&R ,,,
Dang, I hate to hear that, sorry man
It happened to me twice
Customer scoot? So your a mechanic by day & RUclips?
Nick Hildabridle no work a full time job in construction, mechanic at night and RUclips whenever I can fit it in
Nick Hildabridle the videos I record in the truck are recorded driving from job-site to job site. That’s why I have so many in the truck versus on a bike.
It's not a Road King
Oh really. Please share what is it?
