Monaghans Bluff to Hill End MTB Ride

- this is the last section of the Bridle Track that I haven't done before from Bathurst to Hill End NSW Australia. Can I ride from Monaghan's Bluff to Hill End and back all in the one day? I camped at the Bridle Track's Black Gate reserve the night before, always something that I have wanted to do!

The bottom bracket bearings did need replacement, had full service in Bathurst at Renshaws Pedal Project for the BVRT.

You’ve been riding in some dirty, muddy and dusty locations but still surprising that the bearings needed replacing so soon.
I was looking at the Polygon Siskiu models but you’ve got me thinking that the Syncline could be the way to go. I do have a question though after watching todays video. In the video you camped close to where you rode and went out on a day trip. To me, the biggest drawback of the Syncline, and the Siskiu even more so, appears to be the lack of options for mounting racks and other such items. Did you look at other bikes for this scenario? Is bike-packing something you do? I have a Marin Nicassio+ gravel bike from BikesOnline but on the loose surfaces I feel much more comfortable with wider handlebars, this is why I’m looking for a more MTB styled bike. Just interested in your thought process when you made this purchase. BTW, the Syncline C5 is out of stock on the website today.

@@nathanjsimpson Thanks for watching, I'm more into XC riding as day trips. Doing the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail over 3 days soon staying in accommodation with just a backpack for essentials. I've been advised to take the seat pole out & drain the bike upside down if used in appalling rain etc as water can get down there. The Syncline doesn't have any mounting holes, an option would be one of those bags that ties to the seat pole & has 2 supports going to the rear axel somehow, check out Katie Kookaburras & Juliet Elliot's channels 🚴
The Syncline considering its carbon, is probably not ideal for rack mounts, but if you are interested in polygon good value, look at the xtrada 7 which is same geometry but aluminium, more suited for racks, you can always get any size handlebar you like cheap online many places, personally I prefer narrower bars for comfort.
@@dheath3697 that's good information, thanks. I'm not wed to the Polygon brand, and although the Xtrada is a lot cheaper I'm not loving it. I see the Superior XP 939 is an aluminium frame with better components, and similar weight, but the front crank is, unfortunately, a little larger than the Syncline, but could be possibly swapped out quite easily. Do you have any good or bad reports on the Superior bikes?
@@nathanjsimpson Do you mean the front chainring is a 34 tooth? It's easy and cheap to change, apart from that, I don't know much about the Superior line except a few reviews, but for me it's a pure xc bike, it's low stack height you're in a constant racing position, which I think for long rides won't be the most comfortable.
Did you notice they actually have a bike packing specific model called the MARIN PINE MOUNTAIN 1 - BIKE PACKING MOUNTAIN BIKE
It's built strong with a steel frame, but it's always a trade off, like a 4wd, do you want a 80% off road 4wd but rough on road, or a more on road 4wd with some off road ability? It's a very complex subject ;-)
