Dry rot is when your tires get old and there is no moisture remaining within the rubber. The rubber begins to crack all over and the chances of a blow out is significantly higher.
The loud squealing from your brakes is when there is no braking material left on the brake pad and the metal base of the brake pad is making contact with the metal surface of the rotor. This causes loud noise, horrible braking performance, and increased temperatures when braking which can warp the rotors.
Warped rotors cause vibrations and can damage the brake calipers, tie rods, and other stuff attached to the hub.
If you don't drive your car often or don't keep up with the maintenance, stuff will rot, fluids and fuel will go bad, etc...
One problem left to worsen can cause a multitude of other problems.

I work at a goodyear as a sales rep. I hear HORROR stories of other mechanic shops and then people come to us, and we find out they were lying. always tell people that no services are approved until they call you with a full priced quote. people seem shocked when they come to me a say they need an oil change or new brakes and then we look and see they don't need it. "a repair shop not trying to bleed me dry? unheard of" be careful people. Also upvote me I want Sam to spit on that free poster for me lol

Sams journaling practice is a real thing in therapy and counseling. The mere act of writing out your thoughts is like nailing your demons to something tangible. It gives you space to view the thought objectively and analyze it. Writing letters you never send and eventually burn is a great way to clear your mind and heal from shit thats been bothering you. Its a great tool.
Finally an answer to the Bryan saga. Gonna miss that guy from the pod

A lot of auto parts are on backorder, which sucks when youre waiting on a part to fix a customers car and its like 2 weeks out if youre lucky

Honda civic and or Honda accords are nice newer cars, as a car guy and a professional in said industry I would recommend those. Multiple cars to stay away from, AVOID any hybrids, electrics or cars with CVT transmissions if you plan on keeping the car long term, leasing one is fine as they are throw away cars not meant to last more than 2 years. Useful advice for anyone really if you read this.
got myself a 120 hp kia ceed 2013 for 7000 bucks. only had 52000 km driven.
works like a charm.
it's disel and has a 6th gear for highways, so it's very efficient, cheap and easy. i suck at maintenance so i went for something reliable.
but tbh you have tons of options. cars are cheaper in the us anyway. rather than looking for a specific car, i think youd be best off finding a car you like for a price you like.
THEN doing the google to find out if its a good choice or not

As a mechanic it sounds like a caliper is stuck, but all your brake hardware or lines are rusted; Especially since they probably salt the roads where you live.
The repairs can be expensive and there is a good chance of failure within a year or 2 anytime a rusty braking system is changed.
If you do decide to buy a new car Honda and Toyota are the most reliable. Nissan is cheap and not reliable at all. Hyundai and kia have horrible engine issues for the small passenger cars. Kia has lots of A/C issues especially 2017+. All "domestic" Ford & GMC/Chevy have bade AC issues cooling system issues and belt and much more.
If i had to decide which cars to absolutely stay away from!!! Ford's, Chevy's, Chrysler, and Hyundai...

Just get a 2024 honda civic hatchback , leather seats, push to start, blind spot warning , holds value very well and will last 200k miles easily if you take care of it. Decent looking car , and only 30k.
Poob. As an experienced mechanic here's how you buy a reliable good car: 1 Toyota if you want maximum reliability. Honda if you want reliability plus some rizz. 2 you go to 5 of the biggest local mechanics, and you give them 50 bucks each to tell you which is the most reliable Toyota or Honda to buy this year.
Yeah just like a 2017+ Civic or Corolla would probably be a very solid choice

Used Toyota Prius. Consistently rated the most reliable car out there. You might want to check the mileage and if the battery was replaced. If it hasn’t be, factor in a few thousand extra dollars since it’ll probably need one depending on mileage.
If you don’t want a hybrid, get a Toyota Corolla.
Yeah I would just go for the corolla lol you can't pull up wearing a Nascar jacket in a Prius, the Corolla or Civic will be enough
90s to early 2000s Lexus GS ES LS. Or Acura Honda Toyota sedans same year range. Really can’t go wrong there.

2012 or newer toyota camry or honda civic. Cant go wrong with either poob. Great gas mileage, look nice, generally 10k or less. Will last a long time as long as you take care of it.
Also the tire rot is real. Its a bad issue here down south here as it gets wicked hot. Generally happens when you dont change your tires for 3-5 years. And yes if you try driving down the highway with tirerot, the tires could explode 💥😮
I heard mini coopers are good, looking at some myself. Cool and fun cars. Plus Poob seems like a chill mini cooper driver
they're supposed to be expensive as hell to repair though
A Mini Cooper would totally fit Poob, but they are nightmarish to repair and expensive. Any car the Brits or Italians touch might look nice but will be constantly breaking.

Poob get something with an inline 4, and ideally with a timing chain. I'd recommend at least that to avoid having issues in the future. You likely don't need a v8 and it just gas guzzles and is harder for maintence.
