There might of been a percentage of Hamas operatives in the crowed, but there were also just aggressive people within the crowd with maybe not good intentions. I see a lot of people calling anyone who values Jerusalem idiot here in the comments. I might not be religious, but if the city I grew up in and learned culture from was being torn apart by two different groups with exclusionary ideologies, I would be upset as well. It's not just about it being a holy place, it's also about it being a place of culture and belonging. There's nothing productive about belittling their struggles because your values are removed from theirs.
But the groups don't have to have exclusionary ideologies. Hell as you can see the Palestinians are basically offering a compromise and only want the part of Jerusalem that isn't particularly connected to Judaism. On the other hand Israelis want everything. It's a bit sad that an ethnic group that has been persecuted for years around the world now does the same to another ethnic group that has also fought for independence even years before the modern Israel was formed. I understand that Palestinian territories may hide terrorists or other factions Israelis may not like but giving them independence would actually be a better choice since it would ease the tensions and allowing the people in those areas to focus on building their own communities would limit the aggression. I don't understand why Israel polititians are so stubborn, not only they are hurting thousands of innocent people but they are hurting their own citizens who are also victims of the violence cause by the absurd politics they follow.

My solution, whilst it might not be viable in the geopolitical sends, is to grant Jerusalem independence from both states and establish it as a separate country/city-state.

I’m in a Jewish teen social group here in the USA. We meet once a month and have discussions, and almost every time the Israel Palestinian conflict comes up. It’s interesting to see how the conflict comes up in every day life even over here, and how we can work together to see and understand both sides of the story.

There is no International law that gives the Palestinians any land in Israel. The West Bank and Jerusalem was Jordan's illegally annexed lands, not any Palestinian land. Israel won the Land in a war with Jordan. It is not in any way Palestinian land. The Palestinians never owned it, and in fact put in writing in 1964 that it would not take any sovereignty in the West Bank.

You didn't mention the fact that even prior to the six day war, the international community didn't recognize Jerusalem as the Israel's capital. That was due to pressure from the arab nations at the time. This propogates the false narrative that the problem the internatioal community has with Jerusalem originates in the six day war. That is a false. The problem exists for as long as Israel exists, and is not bounded by the 1948 borders.

I see a lot of people calling anyone who values Jerusalem idiot here in the comments. I might not be religious, but if the city I grew up in and learned culture from was being torn apart by two different groups with exclusionary ideologies, I would be upset as well. It's not just about it being a holy place, it's also about it being a place of culture and belonging. There's nothing productive about belittling their struggles because your values are removed from theirs.

But the groups don't have to have exclusionary ideologies. Hell as you can see the Palestinians are basically offering a compromise and only want the part of Jerusalem that isn't particularly connected to Judaism. On the other hand Israelis want everything. It's a bit sad that an ethnic group that has been persecuted for years around the world now does the same to another ethnic group that has also fought for independence even years before the modern Israel was formed. I understand that Palestinian territories may hide terrorists or other factions Israelis may not like but giving them independence would actually be a better choice since it would ease the tensions and allowing the people in those areas to focus on building their own communities would limit the aggression. I don't understand why Israel polititians are so stubborn, not only they are hurting thousands of innocent people but they are hurting their own citizens who are also victims of the violence cause by the absurd politics they follow.

My solution, whilst it might not be viable in the geopolitical sends, is to grant Jerusalem independence from both states and establish it as a separate country/city-state.

There is no International law that gives the Palestinians any land in Israel. The West Bank and Jerusalem was Jordan's illegally annexed lands, not any Palestinian land. Israel won the Land in a war with Jordan. It is not in any way Palestinian land. The Palestinians never owned it, and in fact put in writing in 1964 that it would not take any sovereignty in the West Bank.

Israel is definitely a more developed country and more powerful then Palestine. So Jerusalem should be handed over to Israel with condition that it will allow people of all faiths to pray and visit it.
You didn't mention the fact that even prior to the six day war, the international community didn't recognize Jerusalem as the Israel's capital. That was due to pressure from the arab nations at the time.
This propogates the false narrative that the problem the internatioal community has with Jerusalem originates in the six day war. That is a false. The problem exists for as long as Israel exists, and is not bounded by the 1948 borders.
