I have a 2008 with a similar sound to my exhaust (and a leak coming from a crack in the manifold itself). The difference with my car is that I live in Southern Ontario, Canada, where salt-slush is on the road 6 months of the year, so the underside of my car is caked with 1/4" of rust everywhere. All of the heat shields have rusted clear off the exhaust.
So clean. Everything looks like it's been in the ocean for five years in the rust belt. Looks like all you needed was a gasket. My studs on my 2009 are almost gone, the threads are barely there and I don't even know how I'll get them out to change them. But it's not leaking yet.
I just bought a 2010 Corolla and I’m always dizzy when I drive 😢. The garage I bought it from changed a gasket « on top of the muffler » they said, because it was too small and it fell inside the muffler. But the sound it made was not a leaky muffler but a wobbly metal sound. Since I’m still dizzy, I wonder if it could be the exhaust manifold too. The car has only 89,000 km (approximately 55,000 miles), and no rust.
Nice camera work especially cleaning the exhaust ports on the head. I have this project in the near future on my 2005 195k. Thx for posting. Assume that was the doorman manifold?
Thank you! And yes, I used the Dornan kit that included everything. My one complaint (not shown in the video) is that the support bracket doesn't line up properly. You'll either have to drill another hole or use only two of the bolts.
The manifolds are a pretty common issue from what I've heard. Luckily its not too hard to repair. Make sure to stay on top of your oil! That's the most important thing for your car to live a long life!

That's rough! It might be worth trying a high-heat coating on parts if you replace them.
Same here, I have an 08 Vibe in Michigan. His car looks like my car did in 2009. Just had to replace a rear flange that rotted off a week ago.
That corolla is such in good condition for a 2007. Mine is a 2008 and i swear the exhault bolts are gone with rust...
I live in a pretty dry climate so rust isn't as aggressive, thankfully!

I would definitely have your exhaust system repaired! Carbon monoxide can be deadly!

@@jaredsprojectsandgearthink only two bolts would be an issue?
@@mongopoe5099 I only used 2. I doubt it will matter, but only time will tell!
Oh god that sounds like my car. Mechanic said my manifold was crapping out. One quart of oil left! I have an 08 1zz

How is that Dorman part holding up ?
So far so good, but honestly I haven't put that many miles on the Corolla. If anything changes I will definitely post an update.
What’s that electrical thing right opposite of the manifold? Mine is rusty as hell.
Someone told me that rust could indicate electrical problems.
Are you referring to the brake line manifold attached to the fire wall?
@@jaredsprojectsandgear yes!
