Puts a huge grin on my face when I see some of the crap you go through. MERRY CHRISTMAS to you , your family , and all at SMA... Keep up the good fight , there are so few decent mechanics left.
I think you're the only mechanic I've ever heard talk so bad about dorman. I've used their products for years and never had an issue. They always improve over the oem stuff that's common to fail. And they make a lot of oddball parts that no other aftermarket company does which I really appreciate. Every part can and will fail. But I've never had a dorman part fail and I've used and installed thousands of parts from them. And sold thousands in the 12 years I've worked in the parts business. And I've been working on vehicles for 14 years.
The Dorman bolt/springs for the doughnut gasket are actually pretty nice and even seem a bit better than OEM in that the ends are pointed to get a better first "Bite" . Dorman part 675-221...which is identical to Dorman "Help" line part 03123....same..... M10 x 1.25
Evening Eric Just a quick thanks for all the great Video's you've done this year, you don't know how much you have helped a 60 year old Field Mechanic fixing Access Equipment last week. A 41 year old machine had its wiring mucked about with to fix a relatively simple fault by a so called electrician ( must have been a house hold one) . All the wiring was in the wrong place, burnt and corroded relays, insulation falling off. I spent 4 hours tidying it up literally so I could identify the wiring numbers, then managed to get a scanned copy of an old manual, all 5 pages of it. I was going to give up on it but thought start from the beginning. So rewired the whole thing from top to bottom with a new 42 core loom. 6 hours later all up and running. With a lot of by passed wiring back where it should be, and that's mostly because of you showing the diagnostic side of finding a fault. Anyway the main reason for this message is to wish you and Mrs O, and the children and the dog a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. All the best for 2022. Richard 🇬🇧

@J Hemphill I definitely agree with you in regards to Scotty. I can’t believe anyone still watches him. I saw Chris doing something ill advised in one of his videos and offered him a suggestion as how to do it better (I have nearly 50 years experience working on everything from mini bikes to 18 wheelers). Yup, gotta love the Dorman stuff. Thanks to their quality control, I now buy almost everything OEM online, as I can often get prices pretty close to the Dorman stuff, and OEM quality, so the part will not only fit, but it will actually work too :)
@@Jack-qn4vt Honda is OEM . . . if you buy a Honda part, regardless of whom you purchase it from, it is OEM. Same goes for Motorcraft parts for Ford vehicles. It doesn't matter where you buy your Motorcraft part from, as long as it is a genuine Motorcraft part it is the OEM part for the car.
Well done, Eric. There are things that stop me from being able to "do it" the way you do. One is 77 years old and the other is patience and 'bendability'. lol Merry Christmas to you and the family. Thanks for sharing.

I had about the same milage on my 06 Matrix when the stock exhaust manifold started leaking from cracks. Was prepared to put a Dorman cast-iron Chineseum replacement, but decided against after reading the bad reviews regarding fit and finish. Pulled it, welded the cracks and put her back in.......that was 40K miles ago, no problems since.
The motor - yes, but not the rest of the car. Rust will take the body out. I had a 05 corolla with the 1zzfe - 220k before it was rear ended and totaled out. It had no issues at all.
Merry Christmas to you and the Hot Mrs O and family love your videos. I bought a dorman cat and manifold combo for my hyuandi I wasn’t paying $1300 for oem been 3 years doing good not a fan but it shut the money light off

In Avoca, NY today, Eric O., found guilty of WUI. In layman's terms, that means Wrenchin Under the Influence. Field Sobriety Test - cannot tell a 12MM from a 14MM - fail. Anyone who consumes such a delicious feast, prepared by such an incredible Farmer's Daughter has no defense! Guilty! 😊
Eric, I watch a lot of SMA videos. Last night I had a wacky dream and you and your Jeep hat were in it! In my dream I walk in to an old shop of mine and there you are, volt/ohm meter hooked up to something. The shop is mostly dark cause it’s night. I try to remember where the light switches are and one is hidden behind some junk! The cool thing is as I’m reaching for the switch there in front of me is a blue Mikita sazall cabinet and it’s filled with new and old blades, I’ve seen you use Diablo red ones. Well here’s the thing, you reach us in many ways, and dreams don’t mean nothing sometimes!
Unfortunately I don't think anyone wants to make them here in North America so we are stuck with sketchy foreign quality. I was shocked at the Buick dealership years ago when the new suspension parts that they were putting on were make in Thailand and Vietnam
Finally watched this. Love the banter. Did the same job 7 years ago on my Corolla. Other than the un-fitting bracket the cast iron Dorman manifold has held up just fine. The Toyota cracked part is one of the few flaws on the 1.8 motor. 320,000 kms and still run daily!

Mrs. O needs to start a cookin' show: South Main Soirees! :) Merry Christmas to all you nice folks...
I'm amazed that heat shield put up a fight on a NY car!
Eric, one thing. I really like when you fast foward the clip of you cleaning off goo on all your videos.. its oddly satisfying.
Merry Christmas SMA Team! And Eric and the Family Been watching you guys for years and love it. watching from Australia.
That ham looked DELICIOUS!!!! I agree that non spiral cut hams are the best.
Mrs O looks cute in her flannel shirt! Such a great family! 🌲Merry Christmas to U & ur lovely family!🎅 I'm sure that lady was grateful for an excellent job. It's a shame what the rust belt does to our cars. Well, enjoy ur Christmas & may u guys have a healthy/prosperous New Year!🎉❤
Happy Holidays to you, the lovely ageless Mrs.O and all the youngsters...
Merry Christmas Eric! Awww man I was expecting you to weld the old manifold back together NPR style 😁👌
Maybe he didn't want to take the chance of killing the PCM with a lightning bolt? Love your Russian fixes. The flood car was a serial tragedy. Must have been for a Russian friend.
Mr. O is so gracious and proficient as to be both willing and able to place us where he can not see but we can.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. And even "this kid". Every video is a half hour of fun, facts and factory torque settings. And Mrs O... Woo-hoo.
Had to pause video and get a snack as a patch till the real thing was ready. Yep, ham it is. Another fine video Mr O.
Merry Christmas Eric and family. Thanks for all the videos this year.
HAM!!! Everyday, any day. However -> Spiral cut is fantastic!
Ho ho ho to you and Mrs O!
I hope you have some downtime for Christmas, or hopefully time to play with any of your good presents!
Merry Christmas and thank you!
Mrs. O is a fine woman, very nice catch....I'll bet that Matrix is still rollin 5 years from now, despite the rusted out rockers...
Yup, gotta love the Dorman stuff. Thanks to their quality control, I now buy almost everything OEM online, as I can often get prices pretty close to the Dorman stuff, and OEM quality, so the part will not only fit, but it will actually work too :)
I have been checking with my local dealer more frequently.
Often there is little price difference.
OEM from outside the dealership isn't always from the manufacturer
@@Jack-qn4vt Honda is OEM . . . if you buy a Honda part, regardless of whom you purchase it from, it is OEM. Same goes for Motorcraft parts for Ford vehicles. It doesn't matter where you buy your Motorcraft part from, as long as it is a genuine Motorcraft part it is the OEM part for the car.
@@thomasherring6640 yes but there are also counterfeit parts out there inside genuine looking boxes.
My brother-in-law made a brisket for x-mas, it was fantastic
Its gotta be honey glazed ham. Enjoyed your videos over the last year, got me through 14 hour night shifts. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
9:30
"I'll ruin her day in about a half hour, let her feel good for a little bit" LMAO! Love the banter between you and Mrs. O!
Merry Christmas Eric and for all your family , employees and friends 😃
My mouth is watering just seeing that ham.
Well done, Eric.
There are things that stop me from being able to "do it" the way you do.
One is 77 years old and the other is patience and 'bendability'. lol
Merry Christmas to you and the family.
Thanks for sharing.
Ham over Turkey any day!!! Right there with you and Apple Crisp - my favorite!!! Merry Christmas to SMA and all the followers!!
Wishing you and your family Merry Christmas from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada!
That apple crisp looked pretty good, you're very lucky Mrs O. Loves you and loves to cook. Great Video, keep it rolling Professor!!!
That ham looks absolutely beautiful. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
We don’t have soda at the house either. But, when my husband does buy it occasionally on the drive home from the job site it’s always a Dr Pepper Cream Soda! Y’all are too cute!
Merry Christmas to the O's!!! BTW - definitely HAM!
I drove by the exalted metropolis of Avoca yesterday (12/23) on the big road. Honked and waved. Shocked to see more snow up by the big lake than the Southern Tier. Have a good Christmas Mr and Mrs O
It's nice to see you are actually human with the wrench!
138k? Lots of life left in that car... I've got one over 300k and three more over 200k. Toyota did a bang up job on that 1zzfe engine.
Nope, won't pass next inspection with the fist sized holes in the unibody.
The motor - yes, but not the rest of the car. Rust will take the body out. I had a 05 corolla with the 1zzfe - 220k before it was rear ended and totaled out. It had no issues at all.
Merry Christmas to you and the Hot Mrs O and family love your videos. I bought a dorman cat and manifold combo for my hyuandi I wasn’t paying $1300 for oem been 3 years doing good not a fan but it shut the money light off
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for all your videos. Tony 🇬🇧
"Everything Torqued to Spec" Love it!
The “Dr Pepper Crème Soda and Jim Beam” comment did get me laughing!! Enjoyed the video as always… y’all enjoy the holidays and stay safe…
I have the Jim Beam but they don’t sell Dr Pepper Creme soda here
I agree with you about ham.
Mrs O is a star.
Love that you have Dorman stock and HATE their products. Their motto should be "We will get you to the crusher...."
Merry Christmas
When your wrench slips off the bolt, you know its torqued to spec.
It's overtorqued if you need a tetanus shot.
“Hey there viewers…” intro never gets old!
What i never understood about Doorman is that it would take so little effort to make the parts right.
Exactly. Or even "close enough", if "right" is too much to ask.
Yeah, but that would cut into their profits lol.
That last 10% of accuracy adds 50% to the cost.
@@elcheapo5302 I think it's more the last 25% then 10%. However I could be wrong.
