"Your car is fixed and ready for collection."
    "?."
"Sir, you can come collect your car, it's all done."
"How can it be? All the other shops had it for a week and then told me they couldn't find the problem. I dropped it of yesterday and now you say it is done.
    Is this a wind up?"
Way to go Mr. O. At the beginning you said the owner wasn't the best communicator, now he has his trust in mechanics restored he may be a bit easier.

Man, that was some impressive troubleshooting! That salt certainly is pervasive. I was thinking the car manufacturers may have some stock in the salt producing companies. If you want to get rid of the salt, just convince a couple people the salt is harming animals. It will be gone so fast, your head will spin, and no more green crusties!

YES !!!!! Finally a video that is more than 5 minutes to fix the problem !!!! And this one is a MULTI problem fix !!! Went thru a big cup of Krups machine of McDonalds coffee insert, and it tasted great with some chocolate wafers to compliment it !!! Our (yes, our - you are not the only one diagnosing the problem) sleuthing is going along nicely and uncovering bad things that have happened over time !!!! I saw Mrs.O.'s heart lovingly melt when you said the only mistake you never made was marring her - priceless !!!! A bad wire so far, gonna fix that. Then on to the other codes and more sleuthing again. Can't wait for part two !!! Going to fill the Krups water tank because it will take at least two cups of coffee and a few Dunkin Donuts of white cream, blueberry, and jelly fillings to get this vehicle all repaired and an inspection sticker slapped on !!!!!!!!!! 🤪🤨😵‍💫😤👍

Eric, nice job on that wire. We in the HVAC & R and Commercial Cooking repair trade go through a lot of the same, tracing down missing neutral wires, in your case grounds, chaffed wires shunted to ground giving erroneous readings and the like. Some of the ovens we work on cost as much as a BMW 3 & 4 series, so the customers get a bit mouthy if we don't find the problems on the initial visit/diagnosis. I like the way you never give up, when others would. I look forward to the rest of this/these video(s) on this job. So many times a single shunt or open wire can cause a multitude of faults. Good job!

nice vid Eric O. Hope you are ready to see the old 2002 Chevy HD to do some work on her! No surprise to me the amount of crude under that cover! My 1987 Chevy PU with the outside frame mounted gas tanks had plastic covers. Within 8 years the covers collected enough crude to rot the gas tank out! I left the covers off when I reinstalled the tanks.

Are you sure that car wasn't under water for a period of time? I've never seen one that packed\clogged with dust and dirt especially at only 2 years old. It just seems way wrong even for a car from the northeast.

Eric spent quite a bit of time diagnosing those 2 problems. I would be curious how he would bill that out especially if the customer chose NOT to get the repairs done at his shop.
In MI, the shop has to give you a WRITTEN estimate before they start to work on the car. Some dealers are now charging a 1 hour diagnostic fee before they look at anything ! The fee is typically refunded (baked in) if the repair is done there.

Eric, at 25:00 I have my guess made: I think it is a high resistance (of some ohmic value) when everything is hooked up, between the senor and the PCM, the majority of the 5 volts is dropped across this high R. I'll wait and see what happens.

Had a few of those folks who dont understand what and why things need to be done as they are . It's tough on the guy trying to fix the car when the owner give them a rough time and had plenty that had to be towed elsewhere.

You're an excellent mechanic Eric, if others couldn't fix it that means if you can fix it doesnt mean others can. So much for your statement that its usually a connector problem but amazing that an emergency brake cable did that, yes POOR design. I just watched the cam solenoid video, I would like to see a cam with multiple lobes. I am surprised people go to other shops when you're the best

Good Job. I took an hour video plus behind the scene time to solve this pressure sensor issue. Finding a broken wire is not an easy job with all these wires and wire harnesses.
Thank you to share this job work, information and experience.
One more thing please, how did you fix that broken wire ????

I use to live next door to a mechanic couple. He fixed vehicles for a Dodge dealership. She complained about why he would fix neighbors car's, while her brakes were chirping. They have 3 kids I've known since they were little. One is now a teacher, one is a very high paid stripper/dancer and one is in college studying bio chemistry and is also a great mechanic. The couple is divorced though still remain close. They are all my friends and now all live in another State. I guess what I'm really trying to say is...
I really miss those labor free auto repairs lol
