  • This video covers what gear I take during my pilgrimages on the island of Shikoku Japan.
The Pilgrimage is a journey on foot to 88 Buddhist temples located in all four of the island’s prefectures, and the journey involves traveling along the island in a circular 1200km route.
Please note that this is just the gear essentials that I feel I should bring. It also does not include the items required when visiting the temples, as these items can vary depending on personal preferences.

So essential to pack right and know where you packed it. Good tip on the simple reflective tape. Good inventory of clothes. Like that camera clip and the fan for temples. Cheers to you 👍

Certainly well thought out and prepared, Lyndon. But, what about the list? 🤣🤣 As I prepare for a trip, I make lists first, cross the items off as I get them together, then make a new list! It was fun watching the Pilgrimage videos and you and Donna seemed well prepared. Even a little extra as you got of the bus at the wrong stop. Added to the fun! Enjoyed seeing and hearing about your preparation.

I should have shown the list 🤣. Made it up about 10 years ago for the pilgrimage, and Its still useful, but some items we no longer feel we need and new items that work better for us. Sometimes getting gear ready can almost be just as exciting.

Thank you! Its a kit I've been using for a while, but I do find it does evolve as new ideas and equipment come forward.

Hi Mr. L Outstanding prep with experienced tips.
hahaha.. I cannot even sit on the knees but here you are sitting on the knees comfortably wow
I found it very mindful and helpful. Ohhh The waterproof sports tape. Good idea. I was asked a bandage from a hiker..He had a blister and I did not have none, but suggested him to fold his socks for his pain.
    well done! Bravo.

Hi L, it's always interesting to see what people take along in their journeys. Like the look of your hiking shoes that allow the feet to breathe on long journeys and a lot of water too is important 👍~ Anna

Always a tough process. I never want to bring too much or something that ends up not being used, but at the same time making sure important items are never left out.

It was raining pretty good when we got to Temple 29, so we may have missed you. Kochi and Shikoku Island are great. We always enjoy coming there.
