Thank you for your recipes. I have made this and it turned out great. The texture remains soft for many days. I only cover them with grated coconut before eating. After 1 day, I keep them in the fridge. (I don't cover these with grated coconut). I then toast them or fry them and they become crispy on the outside and soft inside. Received many compliments and my mother-in-law who loves bingka ubi, love your recipe.
@@kweenahgan1725 Thank you so much for your feedback. Very happy that it turned out well for you and your friends and family.

Wonderful recipe.. I got the opportunity to taste this beautiful dessert which was served by a sweet aunty in Singapore. I am a vegetarian and was not sure if this contains egg . Felt happy watching your video . After which I am having it and it is so subtle and tasty ☺️🥰 May I please know which cuisine this belongs to ?

Hello Eddie,
How long can I keep this in refrigerator? Can we freeze any left over?
Thanks
A few days. If you want to keep longer, don't coat with the grated coconut or it will get dry.
Tried this & it was so good. TQ for sharing
Thank you very much for your feedback

After steaming, do I need to remove the pool of water from the tapioca?
Yes if there's a lot of water, if not just leave it
Hi Eddie
May I know if I need to remove the tapioca liquid ? Thanks for advising.
No need, it will turn out hard if you remove the liquid
Thks for the recipe, the ubi kuih vry nice
Thank you very much for your feedback
Hi, just want to ask why the cake is white color and after coating with coconut it turns to yellow color?? I am a new friend here and do not know anything about kueh
Not sure but should be some kind of reaction after steaming that changes its colour.
Hi Eddie, I am doing my own grated tapioca. Wld you know after squeezing out the water from the grated tapioca, do I keep the water or discard it?
You don't need to squeeze out the water for this recipe as I've never mentioned it. Just use everything after you've grated the tapioca.
Shiokman Eddie - thank you!
Thanks for sharing this recipe. I followed exactly per your instruction and it turned out perfect. Absolutely delicious!
Florence Tan Oh that's great to hear that it turn out well for you. Thank you for your feedback and for trying out the recipe. 😀
Wow amazing
Thank you
Hi. Nicely made, but I don't have fresh/raw Cassava, I have frozen how much should I use or get the same amount?
You can use same amount
Almost same philipine prosedure hehe we called it pichi pichi our traditional kuey in the philipine😁😁
What is the purpose of steaming the coconut?
So that it won't turn bad easily in hot humid countries like here in Singapore.
Shiokman Eddie thank you 😊
Tks for sharing
You're welcome
Can I use this receipe to bake the tapioca cake
No this recipe is only for steaming. I have another recipe which is for baking.
Hi, can I steam the tapoica kueh the night before, then coated with coconut the next day when consuming?
Yes you can but it's better to refrigerate the uncoated kueh as we have not tried leaving the kueh overnight at room temperature.
Thanks for sharing 🌻
It's my favorite 🌈
You're most welcome
hi Eddie, greetings for Indonesia!
at the end of your video i see that the cake is quite soft, does it will harden once the cake is fully cooled down? or what should i reduce/add if i want to make it a bit denser? thank you in advance :)
Hi Josephine, This recipe is meant to be soft but if you want it denser than you can squeeze out the liquid from the grated tapioca. How much I'm not sure as it depends how dense you like.
Hi shiokman may i know many inches steam tray u use cos my steamer is electric one 2litre
10 ins round pan
I have alot of carrot pulp. Can i replace tapioca with carrot?
No you can't because this is a tapioca cake and not carrot cake. Texture is entirely different.

Yes medium high heat over the stove. Not sure about your induction cooker
Howmuch tapioca do we use
1 kg grated tapioca as mentioned in the video
I wonder if tapioca and cassava are the same?
Tapioca and cassava are the same. In UK we call it Cassava.

Hi Eddie, can I know where we can get grated tapioca n coconut ?
I usually get them at Geylang Serai market. Bedok Blk 85 market also has a stall selling them.
Thank you!!
You're welcome
For your steamed cassava you put less sugar but more liquid in it compared to your baked one. Is there any reason to it?
Serene Seow Sugar amount is personal preference and more liquid is because steamed version texture should be softer than baked ones.
Thanks for the quick reply. Making it for CNY gathering over here in Vancouver 😋
You're welcome and Cong Xi Fa Cai to you and your family.

Hi Eddie can I ask one question for this tapioca cake can I add more water I like the kueh softer or follow your recipe...thanks
+lin joanne Yes you can. Actually if you noticed near the end of my video when I coat the cake with grated coconut it is quite soft. So if you want it softer don't add too much water.
Try it out and it tastes very good. The kueh is soft & not sweet. Thanks for the recipe.
Thank you very much for your feedback
Looks yummy 😆 Interesting recipe 🌼

DONE TO U
Terlalu lembek kueh ni... terlebih santan.. ubi parut kena ramas buang airnya dulu
Tapioca or cassava
Mie Wong Isn't tapioca the same as cassava?
I don't think soo🤔
+Mie Wong ok then, in Singapore and Malaysia we call cassava root as tapioca
Actually it is called cassava root. Tapioca is starch derived from the cassava root. So Eddie is correct. But lay people especially in SEA refer to it as tapioca I guess ;O)
+Yoges Wari thank you 😀
I think you need to include how to prepare the tapioca from the start ...
Hello but that's not cassave instead of tapioca
+Hardlopen57 ok maybe I should be more precise by calling it cassava root. Thank you
Oi
Yr kuih is hard
Esther Tan
I cant agree more that the amount of liquid is insufficient for 1kg of grated cassava. My own version is very soft and pure white and it hardens to a nice consistency in the fridge. For 300g grated tapoica, i add a boiled hot mixture of 70 g coconut cream, 225g water and 80g sugar

.
to soft..
so much water..
Noora Indo Oh that's the way I like it. you can always reduce the water.
