Books are the best containers for information and they've changed my mindset for the better. I compiled all my favorite self development books into one video and separated them into 4 categories: Productivity, Socializing, Confidence, and Awakening. I also provided time stamps so you can flick to whatever book that tickles your fancy~ Which one would you wanna read?
Totally off topic but can you do. A hair styling video please? I got a haircut which is same lenght as yours but now I don't know how to style it . Your hair freaking awesome ❤
Women Who Run With The Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés. I recently read this book and absolutely loved it. It used myths/folktales/fairytales from around the world to explain the female psyche. Overall, it was an empowering read and helped me appreciate my experiences as a woman and understand my value and the power I shape for myself.
Waking Up by Sam Harris - I think this is good companion to Untethered Soul and general meditation practice. It taught me that the self is an illusion - we are not separate souls observing our lives and kind of riding our bodies around. Instead, we are pure consciousness.
This kind of content never gets old - thank you Jenn! I'm so excited to start reading the books on productivity and confidence because those aspects of my life have take a severe hit during lockdown.
i think it's time for my introverted self to finally read how to win friends and influence people after you recommended it a couple times on this channel already, thank you for this video jenn! your hair looks amazing too btw!
If you haven't read The Courage To Be Disliked, you should add it to you list! It discusses the Adlerian psychology perspective on different problematic thought processes we can develop.
Just finished Atomic Habits and I agree... such a good book! Success is truly depended on our daily habits. So tiny but so powerful! Great book recommendations.
I was searching for a book recommendations about self growth and I saw this. I watched the entire video and girl, it blew my mind when you talked about the last book! Thanks for this and will definitely love to read the books you mentioned here. Love from Okinawa 🇯🇵
So nice how you just started the video with a short intro! And you talked not too slow and not too fast, you came from book to book and said the most interesting things in a clear and informative way! Thank you
Reading is one of the most powerful tools we have to sharpen our mind! 😊 How to win friends and influence people is one of my personal favorites, it helped me build up my social skills when I didn't have many when I was young. 😁
In terms of book recommendations, I do recommend Solaris - Stanislaw Lem. It is a Sci Fi novel, quiet a short read but the psychology in it is fantastic. Even if you watched the movie for this still worth, the book is different.
Start Where You Are by Pema Chodron! I highly recommend! This book shows how we can start where we are by embracing rather than denying the painful aspects of our lives.
The book Mindset by Carol Dweck was really eye-opening for me. It's centered around this idea that everyone has a "fixed" or "growth" oriented mindset. Those with the fixed mindset believe everyone's abilities are set in stone, while those with the growth mindset believe that everyone's abilities can be developed. It's really helped me to push myself outside of my comfort zone and pursue things I once thought I wasn't capable of doing.
Hey Jenn I just wanted to say, you have been my influencer and my rold model!! I love the way how you think positively. You really encouraged me to start doing diet for my health and also seek self-love!! I really want to be like you😘 To summarize, just love you and your work❤
Hi Jenn. Your book recs are indeed life changing. I read Daring Greatly and it had a significant impact on my life. Since then, I've been gobbling up on self help/behavioral psychology books.
The book that changed my way of thinking: Good Vibes, Good Life by Vex King. It talks a lot about self love and gratitude and also touches on manifestation. I felt like I wasn't really living in the moment and making the best out of everything to achieve my goals but this book made me rethink:) after that I also bought the book Atomic Habits and The Motivation Myth and I'm currently reading them😊 Thanks for this compilation 😍 I think I'm gonna buy and read Breaking Free From Emotional Eating next:)
Jenn 😋 I just to thank you for making me love reading again! I remember you recommended 101 essays that will change the way you think and I just loved it and started exploring more self help books. Thanks for the great recommendations
I just finished "Can't Even: How Millennials Became the Burnout Generation" by Anne Helen Peterson, and I can't recommend it enough! It gives a great look into burnout/overwork culture, and how it's really a product of a broken societal system rather than our own shortcomings. It really gave me a lot of clarity on my relationship with work, and the reality of life in today's generation.
Thank you for being so honest about your history w/ disordered eating. It is so common but not talked about enough so people just stay in secret shame about it. I've had my share of it too. Love this list and will def check them out. Two books that really affected me are The Power of Now (to become aware of ego, the illusion of time) and The Four Agreements, to just be aware how powerful we are as creators.
Been waiting for this vid since I saw your story about yout thumbnail!! Clicked as soon as I woke up. Been wanting to get on reading and can’t wait to pick up these books.
Man's Search For Meaning - I bet you've already read it, but it's an outstanding book for anyone and everyone! - Also, thank you for bringing intelligence and vulnerability to your videos. You come across as genuine, and I believe you're a great role model to so many! I only just recently started watching your videos, but pretty please keep doing more videos about books and thoughtful subjects! It's so wonderful to reflect on the bigger picture.
I came across a new author on amazon by the name "Mary Selseleh" . You go through a series of different emotions reading her books. I couldn't put the books down for days. Suer engaging and just different if you´re in for a new adventure.
this video came at a perfect time!! My audible just gave me a credit and I was waiting and doing some research on the next best book to listen to. Thank you!!
I love these recommendations! I feel like some of these books find us at the very right time, but I also sometimes wonder why we didn't find them sooner - to be able to prepare for all these weird crises in our 20s proactively rather than react to them you know? I'm dying to start A New Earth, a lot of my favourite quotes are from Eckhart Tolle and I'm almost scared to open myself up to the whole book...
I relate so much to you Jenn, I'm someone who has struggled with self loathing and the chatter of "the roomate" i recommend the book the happiness advantage by shawn actor, it goes into seven main principles of how to cultivate authentic happiness in your life. The book lends itself to the idea that happiness breeds success versus your successes creating happiness, the research studies cited are also insanely fascinating!
Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb-- about a therapist, her patients, and HER therapist. So incredibly eye-opening to the practices of therapy and all the different emotional landscapes humans have.
hey Jenn! loved the video - a book that I recently finished reading is "Chatter" by Ethan Kross and I feel it like it aligns really well with the books talking about "the roommate" and your ego. it's a super short read filled with anecdotes, research, and studies to explain how chatter is caused and with scientifically-backed techniques to help calm your chatter from different perspectives!
my “roommate” is saying she looks like those disney animated characters or just animated movie in general; even her voice. Like I can see her doing a voice for one too.
Thank you for your recommendations! One of mine is The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book dives deep into improving your personal development as he talks about starting your day with this morning routine. He breaks it down into 6 activities and why they’re beneficial. Truly recommend it to everyone❣️
Jenn I highly recommend Michael Pollan’s other books about food. I have found all of those to be more interesting and well-written than How to Change Your Mind. While I do like that book a lot, it’s not my favorite of his. Just thought I’d let you know since you read all the time. 😇

I LOVE YOUR HAIR. IT BRINGS NATALIE PORTMAN IN THE MOVIE “CLOSER” VIBES
The way she is explained those books is so good that I wanted to read all the books or just listen to her in form of audiobooks
