Can't understand mechanics who constantly blame other shops for everything!.
Plus look at the rotors on that thing. Come on they are destroyed
I like watching your channel, and you don't get killed at the end of every episode 😅
You said it I was thinking it. Lol 😂
Borrowed from Al Gores internet... AFS stands for adaptive front-lighting system, or headlights that swivel in the direction a vehicle is turning to illuminate more of the road where the vehicle is heading instead of straight ahead. Adaptive front lighting is a term used by several manufacturers, including Honda, Mazda, Toyota and others.
Those Afs headlight bulbs are expensive .
@@bigbill709 Tucker had a center light that turned the way the steering wheel did back in the 50's, his limited run Tuckers were ahead of their time...
That's a rusty pig.😮
Again, very nice. Kenny is a mechanic for our county, and he walks the main line. Shows us all the insides and does it mighty fine.
Been down that road a few times with my 2002 Focus. I do not envy you one bit. Blessing in disguise how easy the bottom joint came apart
Kenny I use an Allen impact socket to fit the threaded part then use a box end wrench on the nut. It usually spins it right off
Hey Kenny, just a friendly suggestion if you put the name of the car brand model year, etc., and a brief synopsis of what you’re doing in the title it would help other people find your channel.
Kenny, I know Why your microphone had a muffled sound coming from it.
You Forgot to take "The Label Off" my Friend!🤤
Keep Wrenching!!
Kenny to one of your frequent points. I put motor oil in my motor. Yes, it’s an engine. And I put motor oil in it, it’s a motor.
Great work Kenny. That is a very good tip about the lugs. Safety first! Do not learn safety by accident.
Mazda used Fords technology. The Mazda B2000 pickup is basically a Ford ranger.
Long parts deliveries are happening more and more as stores stock less items at each individual store to keep inventory costs down. Another lack of service to blame n "covid" smh
Another excellent video! Friendly, professional gravitas. Excellent and helpful.
I fixed 3 belts on my '86 F150 by cleaning it then spraying 3 in 1 and other sprays in winter. No noise so far. 60K miles on new 302.
I have used mutatic acid on rusty bolt the any solvents or lubricants I have on had. No problems yet.
Great video Kenny, Thanks!
21:35 Lol Kenny
tucker started it now afs lives on
Nice work, keep wrenching.
Damn, the guy got his money's worth on the old belt.
Thanks Kenny. Just learning how or how not to install stretchy belts in a new holland tractor.
I was stacking hay in the barn when the ac stopped blowing cold air, ready to fire the idiot the idiot that just repaired it, a weird universal symbol come on in the instrument cluster. Ready to quit, get the glasses and operators manual, the STOP light came on. Well, that can't be good.
The fan belt had turned into a heap of black spaghetti and damaging the compressor belt. Looked them up online at messick's and got part numbers. I called the local dealer they said they don't have them, but could order them for me...well I can do that, cheaper.
After calling all the auto parts stores and getting funny information. It seems the parts stores don't hire many motorheads anymore.(did I know only motorheads and gearheads growing up?) I decided to call the dealer back and give him the numbers off the belt, low and behold they had one at $120, not at the replacement part number's 86. Both will be close to 200 with tax.
I did read on Gates website that stretchy belts are a "one and done" install, so cutting them off is what they want you to do. I just ordered a cheap kit from the jungle that has some tools that look like yours, since I didn't know how much hell I could give these expensive belts.
About 6 or 12 more videos and the idiot will be an "expert" as long as he watches other real experts. Some just show how to get-r-done, no special tools required
"The jungle" 😂😂😂 I'm so proud of you getting it done. Now you can be "the guy" that everyone goes to when their equipment breaks down. Thanks for starting my day with a good laugh. Keep wrenching 🔧
Malco which I think snap on owns now are the best locking piers you’re going to get the teeth don’t get damaged at all very durable pliers
Thanks for the recommendation. Keep wrenching 🔧
You're using the vise-grips upside down. Even though they lock the same principle applies for all pipe type wrenches, like channel-locks.
AFS is the Adaptive Front Lighting System. Changes the lights according to speed and other variables. 2:01
Never had problems with the old Car quest. Advance Auto bought CQ for the stores and parts. Nothing improved.
I've done many of jobs like this. One thing not mentioned was an alignment after the job was done. I had access to alignment equipment. Doing a simple strut job can effect camber as much as 1/2 degree. There's that much slop between the knuckle and strut. And the toe in really gets affected.
He spends the last few minutes explaining why he didn't do an alignment.
The struggle is real
Those vise grips were holding the strut the ‘wrong way’ ie the teeth on the jaws were not working to your favour when trying to undo that nut.
Mazda AFS is adaptive front lighting system.
My neighbor has a bad belt . He won't replace it . Screams like a wolf
Hey thanks again my brother for another great video
Mazda and ford have been partner's since the early 70's. Only reason i know is i had a mazda rx3 and it had a ford trany and a rotary engine.
I can understand 1 0r 2 adds BUT these adds are running between 2 to 5 minutes, and it's silly stuff most people won't buy anyway, sorry just my opinion. If Kenny needs the money that bad , god bless him.
using the gripping plyers the wrong way isn't helping should be reversed. like channel locking plyers are designed to be turned a certain way
Your camera was trying to focus on the tree. If it wont focus, put something over the window so its all the same.
With that severely damaged belt, did you replace the tensioner and idler pulleys as well?
My advance has gone to crap as well… Oreillys may get another chance? May just start going to Napa all the time!!
Here in the northeast if the end links come off they get replaced, even if they look fine and come apart ive seen them fail or make noise just from fighting them to get off.
Brought to you today by WD-40 ...
Tool looks a little better than the rag I used on my Mazda! Not much easier but I must have fought with that belt for what seemed like 30 minutes. The condition of that main belt was impressive :)
I had an incident recently about what you mentioned concerning loose wheel nuts. I was doing the brakes on my Honda Pilot and got called off to do something and came back to finish. Sure enough, I had forgotten to tighten down the lug nuts on the right front wheel, but all the nuts were on hand tight. The next day, I noticed one of the wheel nuts missing so I went to the store and a couple of new ones. As I was replacing it, I decided to check the rest of them and found out they were all loose. You were right on the money with that tip.
Job well done ✅ happy customer !!
Very nice video!
Great video.
Another great video--Thanks, Kenny! Working up the courage to tackle struts and a wheel bearing on my '06 Prius, and this was very instructive.
Also, the audio with the mic is /much/ better....
You've got this! Thanks for commenting & watching the channel. Keep wrenching 🔧
If they are a ' stretch belt ' , why do they still use a tensioner?
I thought they were an exact fit.
Whatever, they must hold up good as the other one was worn to oblivion but still not popped.
The stretch belt is only the short one he used the tool on. The other belt that runs all the rest of the accessories is a regular belt that uses the tensioner.
I got the idea i use to do that with my geo metro timing belt i got to were i could do it in 15 minutes on the road and yes i left the guard off cause it ate timine belts about ever 50,000 car had 400,000 miles on when i park it caues of driver side axel support frame rusted out.i never run my lug nuts all the way in by hand cause i to lazy when i got a impack i start them and let it do the work
Good video good lesson
Advanced charges too much for small parts for persons who don't know much! Was screwed by Advance one time.
Kenny, I've changed one strut in my life...right front of my 99 Toyota Sienna. It fought me just like this Mazda fought you. I agree with you about using actual Vice Grips by Irwin as they are the best. This is one tool you don't want to skimp on or go to Harbor Freight to buy a generic. Those don't work! I had to replace my sway bar links too. Moog link used. When I saw that belt I said "DAMN"! That thing was gone. Congratulations on the GoPros! Video making is going professional. For the viewers, don't be lazy and take the label off of the new strut. It is more professional. I am always pleased when we take a road trip into Mexico, the secret testing facility for Kenny! LOL
Another fine video. One tip for the Mazda stretch belt is to put the crank on first and roll the engine over (by hand) to get the belt on the water pump..... No special tool is necessary.
I live those needle nose vise grips. I use mine all the time. I'm always finding uses for them. As a NY resident, I end up replacing sway bar links whenever I replace struts.
A shop had to buy me a new wheel once upon a time. I never got the true story about what happened. I inspected my truck (Old Ford F100 with kingpins) and noticed that one of the wheels was scraped up along the bead. The service manager agreed to replace it at no cost. (The other 3 wheels still looked brand new)
iVE SEEN A PERSON HAVE ANOTHER GUY PUT STRUTS ON AND DIDNT TIGHTEN THE TOP BOLTS PERSON WAS FORTUNATE enough not to have died the whiole tire and axle bent after tire came off and broke the whle side where the knuckle ws and brakes wrere. well have somebody else do the job SAVING MONEY HAH.rtight.
Hey Kenny, with that sway bar link you were fighting to get the nut off of, I will often run the impact back and forth to slowly make progress on the nut until it will come all the way free. Would that have worked / been a good idea in this situation?
Yes, Forzda has alignment rigs at the assembly plant, where the strut towers and front chassis are aligned into position before the welding robots take over to weld that frame into position, and after the base is done and aligned on the jig the rest of the body is welded into place. After that it then is lifted off onto a different carrier to go through the paint process and then to the line. Unless accident damaged that should hold the lifetime of the vehicle, if it needs adjusting you need a chassis jig and pull it into position.
Isn't there a left side strut and a right side strut
Wow, I have more meat on my leather pant belt than that poor thing!
Cheap no name vice-grips are crap.
Thanks Kenny!!
Hey Kenny ,Why do you go into Mexico for test drives???
Because the drive time from east coast to Mexico, gives him a week off for every test drive. He's only kidding about the secret test facility in Mexico. 😂
Kenny's stuff is always good TOO bad we have to sit through very long winded b.s. adds that 99% of don't care about..
That's how YT and Creators get paid. That's why it's FREE. You could get RUclips Premium for $10 or $12 a month, like I have, no commercials at all and the creators get paid for their work. Before you ask, the channel creator has no say with regard to the number of commercials, youtube controls the number of ads and placement.
