Eric O is definitely Jealous of a no rust situation, as most of us in the rust belt are. I just had to lightly grease between the rotor and the bearing to try to make the next brake job a little easier on my 5 lb sledge hammer lol.
So true, way too much salt used here. Sprained my wrist using a slide hammer on a hub bearing. damn thing was rusted in. Bearing was fine, but it lost the speed sensor ring. Killed ABS and Stabilitrak. Dash lit up like a Christmas tree and won`t pass inspection that way. New one slid right in once i cleaned up the spindle. We live in the rust belt, noting comes apart easily.
😂 she would definitely find a way to get back at me. Probably hide tools or something equally horrible. Thanks for watching & leaving a comment. You made Meg laugh. Keep wrenching 🔧
Kenny, you are a good mechanic, even at home. We are voyeurs that enjoy your skills and sympathise with your actions. Thank you for your videos and thinking so much of us to try to include us in every turn.
I enjoyed watching every minute of the repair. You provided a nice repair for your neighbor. I'm sure that they will be happy. I am looking forward to meeting Luna, the Great Pyrenees you adopted. Thank goodness for wive's toothbrushes, LOL.
i changed boht front wheel bearings two winters ago. the inner three inner bolts on one side were so tight that the heads rounded off and i had to change the stering knuckel . i had to beat for hours on each side to get the bearings out .this was in northern michigan ,sometimes i hate you guys down south.
Good video, you can’t get into your home garage but at least you have one for those days when you need more than a fan. Love the tripod demo, that is a definite one handed operation. I got used to using a drum brake adjuster tool for dust caps giving it a real purpose in the newer tool collection. I see too many shade tree mechanics , which i know you are Not, never putting any kind of safety blocking under a car even when using a OE scissor jack and then leave the car for days in this balancing act. It all goes back to the 30’s when the owners manual described how to adjust the valves on the engine and the new car says be sure not to drink the contents of the battery! And i would use my short impact socket and a short extension for the bearing back bolts to avoid the interference. And i get funny looks from my neighbors when i set up my deck umbrella over me on a sunny day!
@johnchambers12 one of these days I will have the camaro up & running. HAHAHAHA Thanks for watching the channel & sharing your experience. Keep wrenching! Kenny
Howdy Mr Kenny 🤠 hope y'all having a great weekend. Hello Mrs Kenny hope you're doing well. We didn't get rain but you won't believe this,it got down to the lower 60s last night and around 75 today 😮 it was a great relief 😂🎉 well maybe almost 80 but it was nice anyway 😊
I have just the opposite problem with mowing here in Leavenworth Washington. It is so dry, you run the risk of starting a wild fire from the hot exhaust!
When you took the axle nut off, there was a washer removed too. Did I miss where it was put back during reassembly? Or did the new one come with one already?
I had 12 points originally on the four hub boilts that have a taper step down in my 2000 chevy 6.5 one ton. They were rusted real good and stripped the heads out.I wound up drilling the 4 bolts out.The new bolts were 6 point at 8 dollars apeice at a chev dealer. Are those shock absorber extensions ? My lower A arm is stamped and the backing plates and arm are not available .
Hi, It's Mrs Wrenching! You should go on the Facebook group Wrenching with Kenny and Backyard Mechanics (answer all the questions) put the year, make & model of your vehicle in your post. Be sure to include what is happening with your vehicle & what you have done to fix it so far. There are a lot of techs that may be able to help. The link is toward the bottom of the video. Keep wrenching! Also put if it's a 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle
i have lived in the south whole life am 67 years old about 50% of the time they will be rusted and have to work to get them off would never not put something on there to prevent it from being stuck for the next person to work on
Kenny, use caution suggesting elimination of a rusted out backing plate, as an option. On most vehicles this won't hurt anything, but removal of SOME backing plates, can cause a fitment/clearance issue between the rotor and bracket. (vehicles that have correction shims under the rotor, are a great example)
Eric O is probably shaking his head watching how easily the bearing came out
There are methods that can help get the bearing out, but they don't always work.
Eric O is definitely Jealous of a no rust situation, as most of us in the rust belt are. I just had to lightly grease between the rotor and the bearing to try to make the next brake job a little easier on my 5 lb sledge hammer lol.
You know it's a Genuine GM quality part when it says "Made in China" right on the box! 🤣
Unfortunately that's every brand now
Real backyard work like most of us have to do!!!!!!!
I bet your neighbor is glad you moved into the neighborhood.
Yes they always search you out when they want to get free work done. I cant tell you how many times i have heard ‘ Oh are you a mechanic’
Yeah that makes your job much easier with a bearing coming out that easy.
good job with basic tools, I am fortunate as I am a mobile mechanic so I always have my tools accessible at home....
Another job done well keep wrenching Kenny.
If only bearings would come off that easy in PA.

Same thing in Ohio even a hint of winter weather and the salt trucks came out.
Same in Northern Michigan.
I'm in upstate NY. I understand.
I miss working on those southern vehicles. No PB Blaster, wire wheels, or a torch. I just pull em at the joints and put the entire hub in a vice.
Kenny you shouldn't mess with Mrs.Wrenching's stuff cause she will kick your ass!!!!! 😅
😂 she would definitely find a way to get back at me. Probably hide tools or something equally horrible. Thanks for watching & leaving a comment. You made Meg laugh. Keep wrenching 🔧
@@WrenchingWithKenny She laughed because it made her think of something (you don't want to know)

They don't come like that in the north. We have to use a hub tool to get them off. We also have to anti-seize everything.

Same thing in West Virginia rust causes lots of problems getting stuff apart it's enough to make a preacher cuss.😅
Mrs wrenching will enjoy the taste of brake cleaner 😊
Kenny!! 100K coming up! Great job.😊😊😊
Good work Kenny.

Your house is amazing, I can only dream about owning a property that size 😊
Looks like the truck has original shocks too
mrs wrench is going to put washers in your cheerios.....
Those (new) spacers caused the demise of the wheel bearings....Too much overhang putting undue pressure on the bearings....😳😳🙄🇬🇧
You're voice comes in loud and clear on my video
When you took the axle nut off, there was a washer removed too. Did I miss where it was put back during reassembly? Or did the new one come with one already?
I still have my dial torque wrench from 1976.
Sounds like a helicopter. Lovely house.
It sound like Boeing 737 when Taxi on the run way.
good job
If it was your own vehicle, would you have changed the driver side also?
I've never dealt with wheel spacers but I hear they can be trouble some.
Pickle fork to the rescue 😊
What was the technique you did use to use an open ended wrench as a breaker bar?
I take a breaker bar and tighten it up till you can't tighten any more then it won't go anywhere
I prefer warm weather in the 80’s. Perfect weather for us Hawaiian nudists.
Was the new part a CarQuest wheel bearing/hub?
I like 50 to 75 temp for me and gm didnt change much on my 92 s10 it looks just like that one in design
i refuse to install spacers bad on wheel bearings. if you cannot afford to buy correct wheel leave what you got on it.
Even the wrong wheel is bad for the bearings cause the load isn't center on the bearings
Just use German torque 😊
I don't think I've ever seen a dust cap on a set-up bearing like that.
Each one of us is a walking torque wrench. Just say “click” like Rainman Ray does.
The only bad thing about over tightening is that you will strip the thread.
If I am not sure of the torque, I would put on thread lock or Lock Tight.
Its not hard to diagnose you can see metallic debri on the inner steer knuckle or it can take out an ABS sensor if let go too long !
Must be a dark road without street lights.
Help , help, My 2009 silverado 1500 is 1 1/2 inches lower on the front driver side? Replacing the struts did not fix it. What could be the cause ???

For the torque you need to go 3/4 bananas
HAHAHAHA If you go that extra 1/4 you've gone too far. Thanks for making me laugh. Keep wrenching! Kenny
my spacers are hubcentric, it has a lip
i have lived in the south whole life am 67 years old about 50% of the time they will be rusted and have to work to get them off would never not put something on there to prevent it from being stuck for the next person to work on
I heard the clicks. 😉😂🤣
I heard “Uff Dah”
If it don't fit force it.
👀
The rest of the world calls those things yank tanks yet all the bolts and nuts seem to be metric what gives?
You get cheap parts, you'll replace it twice.
You can’t do it a million times.

LoL 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Mrs wrenching, toothbrush 🪥. Don't you dare. Get them brass brushes. And new toothbrushes.🤠☮️✌️
