    I've colored each book in order, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. The entryway above the foyer doors has a rainbow painted above it. That way I don't have to spell out the key books are essential. The players figure it out.

      I’m running this adventure for my partner & I was worried about her having to sit there with that awkward puzzle; Perfect solution!

    Absolutely loved the Joy of Extradimensional Spaces, everything about it fed directly into my personal tastes and my players even broke the homebrew "curse" keeping Cumin and Coriander in the mansion and now they reside in The Potluck Alchemy Shop which the players bought as a homebrew shop/house. While the players are exploring the mysterious books of Candlekeep, Cumin and Coriander are taking care of the shop and experimenting with potion ingredients that the players gave them.
    In addition, during their exploration on fistandia's mansion, the players saw the hands trying to unscrew the lid in the preserved minagerie and set it on fire essentially lighting off a 6Ft molotov cocktail and in the Dining Room, one of my players sat in the mimic chair and couldn't get out for a long time constantly getting bit

    My players now have a fear of furniture thanks to this adventure. The only things they ended up fighting was the animated books. animated bookshelf and mimic chair before figuring out the word. Also one of my players decided to just keep the Slaad in a jar, so we will see how that goes

    In a few days I will run this adventure! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
    The only thing that doesn't convince me is the death of Matreous, I plan to only be a one-shot, so that ending might not be the best 🤔

      for sure, sometimes you want to wrap things up, so changing it to knocked out can be good!

    This was a fantastic rundown of the adventure and really helped me prep, thank you!! Having all of the information filtered through what a DM would find important and options do deal with player choices was immensely helpful and got me excited for what could happen with my campaign!

    This is a really good walkthrough! I'm excited to see your take on the rest of the adventures.
    I'm running these as one-shots (the PCs level up at the conclusion of each one-shot) when our DM needs a break or has an off weekend - the PCs are a group that were accepted into Candlekeep as Avowed but are sometimes too rambunctious or "troublesome" to be the bookish adjutant. If there is an investigation that needs follow-up (i.e. something weird about a new book, looking for a particular person like Matreous, etc.), Bookwyrm puts the PCs to the assigned task.

    This adventure could really do with some additional puzzles/riddles. I always like to have ways for the player's to figure things out rather than just rely on intelligence/skill checks. E.g. I'd love a riddle for the command word rather than just an arcana check.

    • @NoFunAllowed

      for sure, i like player checks vs dice checks!

    I love it. I have a higher level group (should hit 9 today). But gonna have them get this book “as a gift” from someone at the Candlekeep library. So they can have a pocket dimension home.

    Thank you so much for all the time and effort that you pour into your videos :) They were a great help to me when I was prepairing my first DnD campaign! ^^

    Going to try to run this one as a oneshot. Trying to avoid the whole “guy you are looking for is dead” thing. It’s a bit of a downer. I think I will have him trapped in a mirror in the mansion then the party has to explore

    Wish me luck, I have a new group meeting tonight, NONE of them have ever played DnD. Except for me, of course. My plan is to run through the book, one session at a time, if they like it, I guess that means I need to prepare to DM a second long running group. My first time DMing was back in '19, and it's still going.

      They're still on the first floor, took forever to get started but they had fun and want to do another session. Too much geeking out between me and one of the PC, once we realized we both have played WOW.

    This one definitely sounds like a lot of fun. Or given just how swingy level 1 is it could be brutal.

    I just finished running the 2nd session of this adventure for my players
    It was nice and light hearted fun
    I have a critique on wizards of the coast though
    The adventures could use more art work
    For example the star puzzle at the end
    It would've been much nicer had we had a visual so they could figure it out
    I mean wizards had 2 years to finalise the adventures
    They could've put in a bit more work on details such as this

    • @NoFunAllowed
      @NoFunAllowed  3 года назад

      More art sadly means less words!

      This is actually a collection of adventures made by multiple artists. Anything missing could be added by an enthusiastic narrator. 😁

    The helpful homunculi
    How helpful r they ?
    Do they assist the characters in combat ?

      they certainly can if you want them too!

    Are there dark places in the mansion or are they all dim light at minimum ?

      I would say no, but perhaps some lights are malfunctioning downstairs!

      Any adventure you run is 100% up the the narrator. The book is just a guide and a great one at that. As the narrator it is your responsibility to entertain your players. When the group has fun my heart swells.

    Lmao a tortle in my group went back to the room with the broom and threw a silver piece at it initiating combat and was shortly never seen again.... waiting for other players to discover missing 500lb tortle...

      @@NoFunAllowed lmao truth. I am totally running this book as the campaign. I'm calling each of the campaigns in this as episodes. So far i am really looking forward to the platinum mines really hoping my party make good decisions.

  • @zenovkayos5811

    As for the portal at the beginning
    Why don’t we just teleport all the characters instead of giving them a choice ?

    • @NoFunAllowed
      @NoFunAllowed  3 года назад +1

      it comes down to how much "freedom" you give your players in one shots. More often than not in one shots I say "You Do this, You Go here." etc etc

    • @mikestrouse
      @mikestrouse 3 года назад +1

      No one likes plot choo choos. Freedom of choice is a great illusionary tactic used to make your players feel better. If they are greedy show them something shiney. Everyone loves shinies.

    My kids, 13 and 9 have played plenty of D&D, but I’m going to run a game for them, and one of their friends who is 10. This seems like a safe entry point for a new kid. Am I wrong.
    P.s your videos for COS have been a godsend…. But I’m not starring there for this young fella

    • @NoFunAllowed
      @NoFunAllowed  3 года назад +1

      This is a great first level adventure! My recommendations for younger people is to make the fights easier and play up the npcs as whimsical!
