    I have Sly Flourishs' book and I am pretty sure that 'secrets and clues' is one of his most important concepts. Still, I am eager to see the upcoming gameplay!

    • @BobWorldBuilder
      @BobWorldBuilder  3 года назад +7

      It definitely is haha, luckily this is a mystery one-shot, so there was no need for over arching plot threads and the "secrets" were really just the plot of this quest :P --and the session was really fun anyway!

    I run a D&D club for my local school district and I DM several annual campaigns for middle and high students. I had been stocking copies of the core 5e manuals to check out to students, including those who want to run their own campaigns. I like the Lazy Dungeon Master so well, I think I will start stocking extra copies to loan out instead of the official 5e DM book. I will also be recommending your videos to my students starting next season!

    Sly flourish's books have always been a great help, going back to the original Lazy DM book. His Lazy DM's Workbook is an incredible resource, WotC should've come up with something like it a long time ago. His Fantastic Locations and Fantastic Adventures have also been great and I used both in my campaigns over the years.

    Do you find it better/easier/funner to run for two people instead of 4-5? I ask because that is the direction I was thinking about going in my future adventures.

    • @BobWorldBuilder
      @BobWorldBuilder  3 года назад

      It kinda depends on the players. If the two people work together well, yes. If not, a bigger group size could help

  • @SkullDixon

    You could add a subtitle to this video that says, How 5e designs adventures ti fill time and meet their "Number of Encounters in the day" quota without making them relevant.

    • @BobWorldBuilder
      @BobWorldBuilder  3 года назад +1

      Yeah I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and blame the "disconnect" on my quick read of the module, but even that would point to the writing not being clear enough for easy prep soooo... I think you're right :P

  • @fufu1405
    @fufu1405 3 года назад +3

    You forgot the most important part: Secrets & Clues.

    • @BobWorldBuilder
      @BobWorldBuilder  3 года назад +1

      Yep xD Fortunately it's sort of a mystery quest so the secrets are already in there!

  • @wrenchjockey76
    @wrenchjockey76 2 года назад

    I would probably leave the spiders. I agree they’re not relevant to the quest, but any outdoor campaign without random natural creatures protecting their space or hunting for food strikes me as to unnatural. They don’t necessarily have to be blocking the path and a forced fight, but natural encounters should be an option in natural settings.

  • @Raethen4e
    @Raethen4e 3 года назад +2

    So, missing secrets and clues seems bad since it is called out in the lazy DM as the most important thing in the entire book... BUUUUT since you're doing a one shot with no need to seed clues for an overarching narrative, it seems like reviewing your characters will probably be enough in this case.

    • @BobWorldBuilder
      @BobWorldBuilder  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, I think the reason I overlooked it is that the adventure is already a mystery, so the very story of this one shot is kinda supposed to be the secret. Not that it turned out to be a big reveal anyway because my players sorta knew what the adventure was about, but the session was still tons of fun! :D
