      Yeah... they can even be used outside of combat to heal to full. I understand that the amount of damage is similar to what some magical weapons offer for each hit, but can't remember any coming to even close to the ridiculous amount of healing you can get from this. Proficiency amount of times to get the healing would still be great with the fact that you get 20 Con on top of the boosted damage.

      yes, but it is ballanced in the way you acquire them:
      the gloves are purely theoretical and have never been made, you need silver thread, fine leather, and other material components worth 5000 gold and in other to acquire its magic you need to sacrifice a being of great intellect, a being of strong body and a being of a pure heart in a 5-hour ritual during a full moon which destroys the souls of the "volunteers".
      sounds like the origin of an artifact to me. I would add major and minor beneficial and detrimental properties, the sentience of the beings, and a personality change for the user and likely attracting the attention of ... something. this is the type of item that by the end of the campaign becomes indestructible and super cursed.

One is a staff that can extend its reach and do thunder damage and a homage to the Monkey King and Chris Zito's Hanu playable monkey people, and two others are wrappings that work like a Flametongue for Monk Unarmed Strikes and a Legendary Wrappings of The Mummy Lord that let you inflict mummy rot. I love the gloves, and agree that they would be perfect for a monk. You get so much survivability from this, another 3-4 bonus to constitution can really stack those hit points. Also the healing gives you so much staying power, as a high level monk you could concievable heal 8d10 a round for a single ki point as you mentioned, with this you could out-heal *fireballs* so long as you have a target. Dont have a face to punch? no problem, just have a few angry rats on standby, or hit a nearby rock (doesnt say you have to hit a creature). And of course I think the rogue-monk hybrids will enjoy the advantage thing for crit-fishing.

    Would the gloves of soul catching trigger on each hit cause it only says after making a successful strike and doesn’t state a limit? Or am I just confusing something

    The Serpent’s Scale armor is basically identical to studded leather +2, which is a very rare item, except in this case you need medium armor proficiency to access it.

      can you not apply a + to the serpent scale?

    • @allenfortenberry9924
      @allenfortenberry9924 3 года назад +1

      Raw, no. It is its own magic item and therefore if it does not list the bonus you cannot give it one, same with myrhril and adamantine. Of course, a dm can chose to ignore that and start throwing around +3 adamantine plate armor and things like that

  • @sockcornnoodles

    That armor is great, but kinda sucks if you made a DEX based fighter built around medium armor master feat. Makes the feat garbage. Does make the moderately armored feat amazing for rogues though.

    We all agree that in TMNT 2: secret of the ooze that the name of the company responsible was T.G.R.I not T.C.R.I right? How'd the replica canister get it wrong?

    Based on the wording the Gloves of soul catching don't get affected by crits since the damage happens after the strike and not as part of the damage you deal with your hit so it can only deal 2d10 still very strong but I'm guessing we will start to see stronger legendary items and these wont be too crazy compared to other new ones(and you never really see legendaries anyway unless you do a high level oneshot or are in high tier AL)

      @@Boundless-Boredom well that's the thing. The description in dndbeyond use the description of basic scale mail so metal... The question is in the adventure is it made of serpent scale or made to look like serpent scale and so metal...

      It should be. Apparently it's made of fish scales, so it wouldn't be any different than dragonhide armor.

      As far as I know, druids can wear metal, only if the DM accepts that the part with no armour is fluff.

    Serpent scale mail is basically just +2 studded leather that requires medium armor proficiency. Should be higher then uncommon. Rare at least if not very rare.

  • @kyleweir689
    @kyleweir689 3 года назад

    Serpent Scale Mail should definitely be Very Rare. That's a MASSIVE improvement on normal scale mail (16AC disadvantage on stealth) giving your rogue, ranger, etc effectively fighter/paladin level AC.

  • @TigerKirby215

    Serpent Scale Mail allows you to get 19 AC as a full DEX fighter? That shouldn't be Uncommon rarity lmfao. It's effectively +2 Studded Leather. (It can't be worn by classes who lack Medium Armor prof I guess so the Rogue won't immediately gain access to it, but still.)

    what the hell is 'unknown rarity'?! we are outside viewers, we should have absolute information! is gold rare, is it worth anything? oh, i don‘t know, no idea how rare it is. that is one stupid concept! if it is unique, just say so! otherwise, tell me the rarity.

    • @SybilantSquid
      @SybilantSquid 3 года назад

      I don't think that's there to obscure it. I think its a case where DnDBeyond's staff don't know what rarity to put them in, because there's none listed in the book for them.
