As an addendum: a few days after this video was uploaded, an interview with Ayana Yuniko-in charge of series composition on the show-was posted to febri.jp. Here are some supporting quotes from that interview for various topics I covered in this video. 💮On Episode 3 and Episode 7's presentation methods: とくに第3話は「一人称視点でやりたい」と希望があったので、参考として(主人公の主観で物語が進む)『マルコヴィッチの穴』を見ました。 For episode 3 in particular, I wanted to go with a first-person perspective, so I watched 'Being John Malkovich' for reference. 第7話のライブ回で、楽屋をずっと映しているシーンですね。あそこは楽屋の中に何箇所か定点カメラが置いてある想定で、これは参考として『モニタリング』を見ました(笑)。 With episode 7 (the live-stage performance episode), there's a continuous scene set in the backstage area. I thought about placing several fixed cameras throughout the room, so I referenced 'Monitoring'* lol. *'Ningen Kansatsu Variety Monitoring', a Japanese prank show. 💮On Raana being similar to the other girls: ふらっと現れて、なんとなく居ついたように見えた楽奈もまた「迷子」でした。 Raana, who randomly wanders in and finds a place to stay, was also a lost child (maigo). 💮On Mutsumi's crucial line of dialogue: ちなみにあの睦のセリフでCRYCHIC(クライシック)の解散が決定的になりますが、それは祥子だけに解散の責任を背負わせたくなかったからです。きっかけが祥子であるのは事実ですが、睦が崩壊の決定打を打つ。睦も、これからずっと罪を背負うことになります。 I should mention, it's that line of dialogue from Mutsumi that ultimately leads to CRYCHIC breaking up; she didn't want to leave Sakiko as the only one responsible. Sakiko's actions were the catalyst of the band's break-up, of course, but Mutsumi's words sealed their fate. That's a guilt Mutsumi will bear going forward. 💮On the sequel hook: もともと2クール想定だったので、1クール目でMyGO!!!!!を、2クール目はAve Mujicaを軸にする構成にしようと。 The show was originally designed to fit two seasons, so I decided to structure the first half around MyGO!!!!! and the second around Ave Mujica. There are also some bits about Anon and Soyo's natures as forward-thinking and backward-thinking people respectively, the impact that has on Tomori, and there's a small bit about what friendship means to Soyo. This anime is absolutely insane. The character writing, the direction, the animation, the voice acting, and of course the songs are all 10/10! I'm super excited for Ave Mujica's anime, especially Mutsumi as she was one of the most interesting characters even though she didn't do much in this anime.
One thing interesting about mutsumi is in Episode 12 right after the end of Mygo performance is she gifted a bag full of cucumber to Mygo but that bag is actually a bag from a famous and expensive sweet store so is kinda ironic that she cannot get out from the influence of her rich family even if she wanted to.
Ooh, I didn't pay any attention to the bag itself. That's a really cool detail. I was distracted by the cucumbers! We see Mutsumi watering some cucumbers throughout the show, so she put in a lot of effort to grow those. Poor girl... The difference between being a person who is rich/privileged and being someone who works hard... I think that will be important to Ave Mujica's story, so the bag being fancy is a really good detail to notice.
!!!! hour long mygo analysis lets gooo !!!!!! as someone who got into bandori back in 2018-2019, and who watched all of the bandori animes prior to mygo seeing how it absolutely blew every one away while it was coming out was absolutely crazy. its genuinely such an amazing show, and clearly thats an opinion even non-bandori fans hold. i cant wait to watch this, and i hope more people give the anime a try !!!!
Sakiko is so mysterious and interesting…. Have you watched the Ave Mujica trailer ? It looks so interesting and dark like , a bit like Madoka Magica ! I really can’t wait !!!!!
The best analysis of itsmygo ive ever watch 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 One of the scenes that needs to be highlighted, and my favorite, was on eps 10 In episode 10, when they finally going live, soyo was forced onto the stage by tomori, although reluctantly, she ended up playing with them. Tomori starts the song with a monologue specifically addressed to soyo, you can see from the way tomori delivers it and also the content of the monologue, "being with YOU made me so very happy, i havent told you that (more like she cant convey it), so i dont want to hurt anyone, i dont want to leave you this way" In his monologue, tomori only look at soyo who is infront of her And then the last monologue she said: "What should i do? The word i couldnt say, are still the word i want it to reach YOU (so i will convey it to you right now, thru this SONG)" reference to short conversation beetween tomori and uika, uika said to her "something that's hard to express, but with a song it's easier to convey, isn't it?", then she end up with "i hope u can convey it (to them/her)" and later eps uika ask her "has it been conveyed/delivered?", tomori said yes, YES uika KNOWS that tomori was sakiko's friend and that she is in a very hard time, And after that, the "actual" song start to play, and taki was the one who first crying, the one who looks stronger is the first one to let it out Then, Tomori start shouting the song, she finally sing it infront of soyo, "The song i sing, ill sing it now, please reach all the way to YOUR heart, ill scream my heart so that i can get past the word (from me to YOU), bcs it is the only way i can do it, ill keep singing it until it reach YOU" When she started singing, tomori was still facing soyo, and soyo was also looking at her, but still holding back her feelings. "Ill sing this song that will link my hand with yours, i wont let it go so lets be together forever" Here finally tomori really conveyed what she really wanted to convey, she let out her heart cry with the song she sang What makes this live scene very beautiful is that the fact five of them perform on stage, from the beginning to the very end of the song, they just WENT CIRCLE FACING EACH OTHER, ignoring the people watching them, even tomori until the end turned his back to the audience. This shows the determination that they (at that time) really do it for themselves, convey what is difficult to convey between them, through a very beautiful performance, they really are in their own world, as long as their feelings are conveyed to each other, then every other thing does not matter. And in the interlude of the song, after all the time holding her heart, finally soyo cried, she sobbed so hard, her heart finally melt down, by tomori's singing, yes, it finally happened SOMETHING TO BE CONVEYED WAS FINALLY CONVEYED And then the last part of the song, tomori wrapped it all by : "Ill sing, so lets START AGAIN (right here right now) one more time (with the new five of us)" Remembering the difficult times they had before, hurting each other, not being able to understand one another, finally it was all resolved with a very beautiful conclusion, the five of them playing, in a circle, facing each other, crying, sobbing on stage, expressing all the feelings that were stuck in their hearts, the most beautiful performance ever 💙 Even after the performance we can hear lot of audience also cry for them, although tomori didnot look at them even once, yet tomori's feeling reached not only soyo and her band mate but to so many other people. In eps 12, after their last performance, Soyo finally said thankyou to tomori for not letting her go, as her answer of utakotoba (song in eps 10), Cant wait for s2, i personally anticipated uika as one of the important character in s2, bcs she is the one (along with mutsumi) who can really understand both tomori and sakiko at the same time,
One thing I really like about this anime is that its re-watch value is very high, and everytime you watch it, you can discover something new. One small detail I discovered during my re-watch is that, if you compared two scenes when Sakiko was telling other members she is quitting CRYCHIC, the one at the beginning of EP1 (our objective view) and the one near the end of EP3 (Tomori's subjective view), some details are different. It hints that what actually happening and what Tomori prcieved what had happened are different, and why Tomori would blame herself for the disband of CRYCHIC. There are also hundreds of other details like this to be discover.

i've never been a big fan of idol/band animes but MyGo has really captured my heart. I appreciate the dedication to create an hour long video analysis of the show (if this is your short analysis, I can't imagine the long ones haha!)
Amazing analysis, love this and my go !!!!❤ you’re really very talented and a deep thinker ! I throughly enjoyed this , and as someone who writes their own script of idol / band / music groups I realise I have a long way to go to reach the deep level of character writing my go !!! has
Excellent work! Your analysis genuinely helped me recognize some details I'd missed on my rewatch, and now I can say I appreciate the show even more than I already did. Can't wait for Ave Mujica!
Thank you for doing a video for MyGO! While the story isn't finished yet, it's such an amazing show that's full of details and way underappreciated in my opinion.
Really good analysis. I liked the Bang Dream MyGo anime, probably my favorite from the anime series or tied with ep of Roselia. Anticipating for Ave Mujica anime. Mutsumi probably my favorite character despite barely having any screen time, I like to see what the anime does with her character since Ave Mujica is gonna focus on that band primarily. We know Sakiko is definitely going to be the storys band focal point where she probably comes to terms with her new living situation more so than she already is. Since Uika is the vocalist that kinda means shes the face of the band and is gonna have some tie to Sakiko's character arc. A little thing. Mutsumi either doesn't lie or is just bad at lying according to what Sakiko said at Hazawa coffee. She said "you wouldn't be able to pull off a trick off that" or something like that in regards to Mutsumi not being able to tell Soyo she moved away. And when Soyo tries to pressure Mutsumi into giving intel, she either stays quiet or that 1 time she said she'll try to contact Sakiko again and avoids answering when asked where she lived. I bring this up because she said she never had fun in the band, regarding CRYchic. She says it after taking a look back and doesn't hesitate or stutter. Despite her well intentions shes said her mind quite clearly to Sakiko and Soyo on 2-3 different occasions and its had a negative response because they thought she was too blunt or whatever so I would say she just doesn't lie but we aren't quite sure about that till Ave Mujica. Also, even after their bands debut in the dressing room she looks tired and not very happy about their successful performance so I'm guessing beside being tied to Sakiko's character arc, her own character arc would probably be something in regards to finding a reason to stay in the band beside helping Sakiko since we know she's a talented musician off that comment Uika gave her from the staff but it doesn't seem like she practices guitar because she wants to perform. Cause even after the CRYchic concert although she has a stoic face and personality she doesn't really look like shes smiling and when Sakiko & Soyo tell her to move in closer she doesn't really do that. I think her story is going to be finding joy in performing. I think for the other members, Nyamu definitely going to expose the Ave Mujica identities somehow or to some effect causing a conflict with Sakiko. Uika might have some conflict with her idol duo partner for being part of another band and it affecting their work. Umiri simply probably going to enjoy being in the band and will probably just stay the cool friend type while helping the other members out, we know that she helps out 30 bands and about only 10 of them I think only practice regularly so I'm guessing if her story has any drama to it. It might be that shes a session musician that couldn't find a band to stay in outta sheer skill difference between members and each bands passion towards music/performing kinda like Sayo before meeting Yukina in Roselia.
Thank you so much for the video!!! At first, I didn't expect much and I tought "let's give it a try, but I'll have to pause it" and I ended up one shoting it I learnt many things, and you made me be aware of what felt so good in the anime (your explaintions of épisode 7 made it so clear to me why I loved it). Same for Anon, I've been intrigued into this particular character and couldn't fully explain why before your vid. Finally thank you for mutsumi, your read of the character is really pertinent and I couldn't manage to understand on my own Thanks, you hyped me into MyGo!!!!! Again
This video is awesome. Usually with analysis videos this length you sometimes expect more summary than analysis, but that wasn’t the case here at all! I’ve watched the anime through twice and you still pointed out details that I missed! Also, this video came to let me appreciate Raana a bit more, so thanks for that. Hopefully AveMujica’s season will be just as great as MyGo’s! 👍
Thank you! I tried to keep the plot summaries to a minimum, but I was worried it'd still be too much. I'm always disappointed when a long review/analysis video ends up being someone's poor retelling of a plot. Very happy if people think I avoided doing that.
oh wow this is such a good analysis!! i love the cast, the writing and visuals are so so good, especially when compared to older bandori animes i feel like this helped me understand the characters even more, you described them in a way that makes them sound so human!! keep up the good work ❤
It's a tram, not a train. Toden Arakawa Line aka Tokyo Sakura Tram, is unfortunately the only surviving line from the Tokyo's tram system and it's a key visual element through both MyGO and previous Bandori anime that ties locations together (and really helps in finding them in real Tokyo).
Hi again , I just wanted to thank you . I adore MyGO!!!!! more than any other anime and your analysis has really inspired me to carry on writing my anime scripts ! ❤
I love this video, i really never thought i could sit through an hour long video but everything you pointed out really kept me engaged, like the composition of shots and how the movements of characters all align so perfectly I think one thing is i love how you used the music in the background so fittingly to what youre talking about in the video and its all so perfect
Thank you for an excellent analyses of one of my favourite shows. There is one important scene you left out that I thought you might note at least. In episode 11 (I think) when Soyo and Anon have a conversation at Soyo's house. And Anon tells Soyo, something like "You're a bit of a bitch arent you" or words to that effect. Soyo acknowledges it but in that moment Anon disarms Soyo. She can see through her and Anon is telling her that and also she will not let Soyo play her games again. Its an important scene going forward for the band's future I think.
I gave that scene a brief visual reference @ 57:01 (in episode 2, Soyo looks down on Anon; in episode 10, Anon stands up) but... yeah, I definitely could've added a more direct mention of Soyo's later development. I wanted to split the focus across all of the main cast, so I tried to avoid fixating on Anon and Soyo too much, and that's very hard to do. They're so complex! The way Anon (and later Tomori) confront Soyo-allowing Soyo's understanding of friendship to begin to change-is a very important moment... but I think if I talked about it, I'd have to mention a bunch of other scenes as well. Soyo's warped understanding of friendship (and the reason she begins distancing herself after being honest with the group) is a result of her upbringing, so I'd have to talk about her backstory. Anon and Tomori's ability to reach out to Soyo in the way they do is a result of what they learned during the aquarium scene, but talking about that relies on Anon's backstory, neither of which I covered. It's a messy web of connections, this story. One detail leads to another, and another.
This is an excellent analysis! You noticed so many details that I didn't think of at all! This made me appreaciate It's MyGO!!!!! even more. I have some questions; did you watch this anime several times before making this video, if so, how many? Did you take notes while watching? How long did this take to write?
Thank you! I didn't take notes originally, but during my first watch I wrote a short review. It was mostly just my opinions on the story, I do that with everything I watch, it's a bad habit. After watching the show for the first time, a week passed and I was still thinking about Mygo, and I had some observations I wanted to share. I didn't know anyone who had watched it, so I decided to write a blog post instead. The first thing I did was decide on the structure (13 sections to match the 13 episodes) and then I made a bullet-point list of everything I wanted to talk about. One was as vague as 'Mutsumi' while another was 'this specific scene in episode 4'. I watched the show a second time to determine which topics to tie to which episodes (e.g. Soyo's body language to episode 9, Raana to episode 6), to write the script, and to take screenshots for the written version of the analysis. According to screenshot creation dates, this took 9 hours, watching and writing included. My notes were my script, all done on September 29th. I did a read-through the following morning to clean it up and to get subtitled versions of some screenshots. I forgot to take screenshots of Anon's improvement, as well as screenshots of the phones with subtitles enabled, and I didn't want to immediately go back through the episodes again, so I did that a few days later while proofreading the script. I rewatched some episodes, but not all of them. It took 4 hours & 20 minutes to proofread and edit the script. Other than watching episodes to take more screenshots, this mostly involved making sure everything was written in the same tense and that sentences weren't too clunky or notebooky. Some cuts, some clarifications. So in total it took around 13 hours to write the script, done while watching episodes. While editing the video version (23rd - 25th), I skimmed through different episodes a lot. I generally knew where to look for the footage I wanted, so I never watched entire scenes in full. I rendered out the video and audio separately to make it easier to replace any copyright-claimed BGM, so while the audio was rendering I did a final rewatch to find any nice visuals I had missed, to grab a screenshot of every outfit a character is seen wearing, and to find every scene where a train is seen. Bits such as the transition between episode 10 and episode 1 (47:27), Taki's file names for the two songs, and some more shots of Taki and Raana were hastily added here to make up for how Anon&Soyo dominated the script was. In the end, I watched the show in full 3 times, once before writing the script, twice during. Then lots of skimming.
This is a literal love letter to this anime and im loving it ;-; by the way I heard the cover in the description bro what does the train mean 😭Maybe it's cuz I didn't have time to watch the full video if there's context to this pls kindly show me (: Great video 🥹
dude this is one of the coolest video essays ive ever seen on one of my favourite shows... i definitely will be checking out your other stuff after watching this, such a cool analysis!!
In China, every person paying attention to anime was talking about mygo back then. Its like a festival when each ep came out. analyzing details, predicting plot, it was so much fun every week.
@@xianyi517 i believe its because bandori in general is more popular in east asia than overseas and mygo isnt really well known outside of the bandori community. its a huge shame :(
Even Girls Band Cry somewhat get more attention and clouts from the overseas ppl despite not having any distributions yet. It's so fucking unfair, even none of my irl friends want to give this show a watch but will watch Bocchi in heartbeat. 😭 (no hate to GBC and BTR, they're amazing too, but c'mon... MyGo deserves the same appreciation too... Or maybe people just dismiss it because it's Bandori? 😔)

At first, I didn't expect much and I tought "let's give it a try, but I'll have to pause it" and I ended up one shoting it
I learnt many things, and you made me be aware of what felt so good in the anime (your explaintions of épisode 7 made it so clear to me why I loved it). Same for Anon, I've been intrigued into this particular character and couldn't fully explain why before your vid.
Finally thank you for mutsumi, your read of the character is really pertinent and I couldn't manage to understand on my own
Thanks, you hyped me into MyGo!!!!! Again
Thanks for the lovely comment! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
This video is awesome.
Very happy if people think I avoided doing that.
oh wow this is such a good analysis!! i love the cast, the writing and visuals are so so good, especially when compared to older bandori animes
i feel like this helped me understand the characters even more, you described them in a way that makes them sound so human!! keep up the good work ❤
It's a tram, not a train. Toden Arakawa Line aka Tokyo Sakura Tram, is unfortunately the only surviving line from the Tokyo's tram system and it's a key visual element through both MyGO and previous Bandori anime that ties locations together (and really helps in finding them in real Tokyo).
I love this analysis! Thank you for the video
Hi again , I just wanted to thank you . I adore MyGO!!!!! more than any other anime and your analysis has really inspired me to carry on writing my anime scripts ! ❤
MyGO!!!!!'s a great show to learn from. I hope you make something you're truly proud of!
@@Taka_Sakagami Thank you so so much !!!!!
Doll is a major theme for Ave Mujica btw.
I love this video, i really never thought i could sit through an hour long video but everything you pointed out really kept me engaged, like the composition of shots and how the movements of characters all align so perfectly
I think one thing is i love how you used the music in the background so fittingly to what youre talking about in the video and its all so perfect
Thank you for such a nice comment! I had a lot of fun with the music, so I'm glad it made an impression
Next anime, I know the most interesting character will be Mutsumi, and certainly Sakiko.
I love how u explain the details that i didnt notice it even i've ever watched this anime 3 times
May have to watch
This is an excellent analysis! You noticed so many details that I didn't think of at all! This made me appreaciate It's MyGO!!!!! even more.
I have some questions;
did you watch this anime several times before making this video, if so, how many?
Then lots of skimming.
i’ve rewatched this show for several times, each time i could find sth new
This is a literal love letter to this anime and im loving it ;-; by the way I heard the cover in the description bro what does the train mean 😭Maybe it's cuz I didn't have time to watch the full video if there's context to this pls kindly show me (: Great video 🥹
dude this is one of the coolest video essays ive ever seen on one of my favourite shows... i definitely will be checking out your other stuff after watching this, such a cool analysis!!
Really good retrospective.
1:00:23 lol what a catch!
Underrated anime, it’s way more popular in East Asian regions
In China, every person paying attention to anime was talking about mygo back then. Its like a festival when each ep came out. analyzing details, predicting plot, it was so much fun every week.
@@xianyi517 确实,每周的新一集mygo才是真正的疯狂星期四🥰
@@wtfisthat1022 中文,没事了
每周看泛哥哥赏析,还有各种整活
@@xianyi517 i believe its because bandori in general is more popular in east asia than overseas and mygo isnt really well known outside of the bandori community. its a huge shame :(
Even Girls Band Cry somewhat get more attention and clouts from the overseas ppl despite not having any distributions yet.
It's so fucking unfair, even none of my irl friends want to give this show a watch but will watch Bocchi in heartbeat. 😭
(no hate to GBC and BTR, they're amazing too, but c'mon... MyGo deserves the same appreciation too... Or maybe people just dismiss it because it's Bandori? 😔)
Wow! I love it!
"Short" 💀
so many little details i never even thought ab especially sakiko,, now im so excited for ave mujica anime
