At this point, I'm sure I've watched episode 10 of MyGO more times than any other episode of television... ever. This insightful essay does it justice, shedding light on things I still hadn't picked up on. Well done!
I had only recently started watching anime again after a ~5 year hiatus, and I started MyGo because I thought the Ave Mujica key visual looked cool, and MyGo absolutely floored me. Seeing the way they were framing Soyo in her first conversation with Anon in the cafe, I was just like "What the hell did I get into." I think maybe if I watched this in-season, this resolution might've felt impossibly far, and to pull it off so elegantly... I can't recall another show giving me chills the way ep 10 did. I've watched 10 shows since I came back to anime, and MyGo more than any other has made me glad to start watching again. Can't fucking wait for Ave Mujica.
Excellent video essay. I binged this whole show last night and was blown away with the direction and the writing, which feel so subtle yet so effective and good at building up to insane climax moments. It's only been a day and Im already obsessed with this show, for sure gonna watch Ave mujica now!
One of the things I really loved about this show was the attached content that fell in place in hindsight with the anime. This segment, Raana's feelings, their plight, all feel encapsulated in the song Noroshi. They fit perfectly for this one and knowing how Tomori write her lyrics this song is probably alluding to the feelings and experiences shared at the time of episode 10, and if that's the case Raana's verses are her feelings about her relationship with both Tomori and the band. I dunno if that's the case or not but it does feel like it is, and episode 10 made Noroshi one of my favorite songs in the franchise because of how much emotion gets attached to it. P.S. - I didn't notice the panda bandage before... They really went the extra mile with the visuals at every tier of production...
Awesome essay, I love hunting little details in this show and I never noticed the significance of Anon's band-aids being plain instead of colored. There's always something new! If you do an Ave Mujica video you could mention the gears hidden throughout the show - on instruments, Tomori's phone, even the shadow of Mutsumi's skirt in ep 12
Thanks, glad you enjoyed! I totally intend to do an Ave Mujica essay once the show wraps up (possibly more than one?)! I have to admit I didn't notice any gears on Tomori's phone or Mutsumi's skirt; I'll have to go looking for those!
@@EBDiMartino Her lockscreen in e.g. ep 3 is stars (MyGO symbol) and asteroids - but the asteroids all have 8 bumps, the same as the 8-tooth gear logo on e.g. umiri/mutsumi's instruments in ep 9!
I've been feeding on MyGO/Mujica content for around half a year now, and your videos have been genuinely one of the best at putting to words everything I love about this show This was the band that made me step back into Bang Dream as a franchise (as a veteran Afterglow fan!) along with Bocchi and Girls Band Cry to love band girl content again. I can't wait to see more people talk about them as Ave Mujica continues!!
I recently rewatched the entire series in one go and that was a great way to see how carefully Ayana set up those dominos to fall in this episode, being free to notice all those little details I didn't on the first, week by week viewing. Episode ten is such a cartharic masterpiece and you nailed how it managed to be that. There was a tweet by iirc Soyo's VO who said that Anon fixing Soyo's hair was the most important scene in the episode and I think you proved she was right here. You could do an entire other video on the performance itself, how it's unlike any other BangDream song ever, how Tomori is singing purely to Soyo and every other member is supporting her. Would love to hear your thoughts on Girls Band Cry as well, which aimed to do something similar, a more harder edged Bandori only to be outdone by the original... (Note that the order of rejoining also works musically: Tomori on her own works as a spoken poem performance, then Raana and Taki joining turn it into a real song, etc.)
Yeah, I could spend hours on almost every episode. I might do a GBC video at some point! I need to watch it a couple more times and figure out if I have anything worth saying about it, haha
Fantastic video breaking down Ayana's masterpiece! It's always a delight realizing more small things that makes up this show's meticulous writing. The surprise is that there's always more even after getting inundated with them daily on mygotwt, especially from a certain diehard (affectionate) TakiTomo shipper. Like that part about Raana knowing Taki and Tomori needing each other. And the TakiAnon crumb in form of Anon's panda-themed bandaid. Always happy to hear more, thanks for this wonderful video!
4:54 since Soyo's snap at the end of eps 7, most people in community demand Kasumi as "the hero we needed" and never realized that would ruined whole storylines in first place, because "this series made for everyone, _including newcomer one_ " will never reached
If you think about it, by encouraging Mashiro not to quit Morfonica, CRYCHIC forming was TECHNICALLY Kasumi's fault, so really everything terrible that happens is actually because of her lol
I call it the JoJo situation. In shounen anime you get a 3rd party came for your help when you’re stuck in a tough situation. In JoJo, you are forced to face your problems.
Man, you deserve more views and subscribers! Only after watching your video did I realize the contrast between the dazzling summer sunlight and the grey clouds. Bangdreamers are using microscopes to analyze this show! I'm looking forward to more of your analysis on Ave Mujica after it comes out 👍👍👍
i love this so much, i thought of the same things that you pointed out for this essay and things i also didnt!! i just love how you explain how all of this, you clearly deserve more views and subs, giving out mine because this was just amazing and i nodded so hard agreeing with everything. also ur so right about ave mujica's next set of dominos,. ayane yuniko's writing is so good that you can already somewhat see how the dominos will fall from mygo and to ave mujica and it hasnt even aired yet. Cant wait to see more of your videos like this or just videos in general. thank you so much for this!
Oh man. Great analysis! While I somehow 'got' the order they joined is how it could only happen, I never really dove into it and you spelled it really well in this video. Also I would like to share how breathtaking it was to see these scenes again on the big screen on the cinema (they were doing a compilation film for it recently.) I watched it 3 times now and if I had the time and money I know I would have watched it more than that. I highly recommend to anyone to give it a chance and watch it on the cinema if it becomes available in your country.
I love mygo and i think your essay express so well why it's such an important anime to me. i watched both videos and i have to say your writing is so good!! looking forward to other videos :)
Really well done video essay! I truly enjoyed MyGo!!! far more than I ever anticipated. This episode was powerful. Who’s your favorite band member? I have the softest spot for Anon & Tomori.
Last October 12 and 13 at Ayala Malls TriNoma in Manila Philippines for the Bushiroad EXPO 2024, I was fortunate to meet one of the members of the real-life Japanese all-female rock band called MyGO!!!!! the band's rhythm guitarist and the seiyuu for Chihaya Anon from BanG Dream! It's MyGO!!!!! the lovely Tateishi Rin-chan in the autograph sessions at the event and the crazy part is the autograph sessions are limited to 30 people and are won via lottery kinda of like a gacha that you have to get a number from 1- 30, the fact that I've got a slot for both days is just pure luck, and it still feel so surreal that I didn't just beat the odds but I also managed to meet her in person both days and I swear I just can't explain how beautiful and radiant she is and probably one of the nicest people I've ever met, she's so nice, friendly, and she really is such a sweetheart and I swear once I finally moved to Japan, MyGO!!!!! will be one of those bands that I will going to watch perform live.
I keep telling people that MyGo is a fkn masterpiece; it's like watching a whole movie with perfect direction Atleast watch it once in lifetime Now we waiting for Ave Mujica which claimed has "psychological horror" tag in it 😊

GREAT video this episode is a masterpiece
Also omg I never even noticed the panda band-aid
Thank you!! And yeah I don't think I noticed the band-aid until I was pouring over footage for the last video.
Peak essay for peak episode, i love mygo so much and im glad others love it as much as i do
