A video review and shave with the Muhle ROCCA R95 Birch Bark and R96 Black handle stainless steel safety razors using Taylor of Old Bond Street shaving cream and aftershave, a Feather double edge razor blade, and the Shave Nation wide stick alum block.

Glad your pumping some more videos out Geo! Best shaver on RUclips! Best from the UK. Dan
Thanks Dan!
Do you ship to Canada
I truly appreciate all the work and effort that you put into making these videos.
Just bought the birch version. Can't wait shave with it. Thanks for the review. Love you're videos.
Geo, because of you, I just purchased the stainless-steel ROCCA R94. I chose it over the Edwin Jagger 3one6. I started shaving with R89s but I wanted something more aggressive. You're my teacher!!!!!!
Another fine shave demonstration. Thank you very much for your insight, descriptions and exhibition. ;-)
Grande video Geo!👍🏻
The birch handle has been available over in the UK for over a year, use mine every day, fantastic shaves.
Great!
Just placed my first order at shavenation. Keep up the great vids
Great review Geo. Both beautiful razors and TOBS is one of my favs. Excellent all around shave.
Thanks Frank!
Because of you i went to wet shaving and i am soo glad i did! My next razor will be Rocca ..:)
Excellent video. Thanks.
Good on you Geo! Just like the old days when you used to do those inspiring shave videos.
It's the manufacturers' fault -- they just don't turn out as much new gear as they used to :)
Cheers, all the best!
Your videos are so great! Thank you.
Thanks Oliver!
Another excellent shave video Geo all the best Jarryd.💈💈💈💈👍
Thank you Jarryd!
Great review geo great looking razor..the shave soap looks GOOD
Thank you Barry!
Είσαι ο καλύτερος!! Σε παρακολουθώ.
Ευχαριστώ πάρα πολύ! Εκτιμώ την υποστήριξή σου!
I’ve just discovered Muhle after three years of wet shaving!
I very much liked the background of the video. super video
Coming back to safety razors after a decades long hiatus of cartridge decadence! Maybe I should go with the R89 to start..but I like the look of this Rocca. Figure I'll deal with a few nicks to start. Was going to go with the black but now you've got me thinking birch. Hmmm...nice video, geo. Subscribed and like your site, too!
Thank you for the video and Review
Thanks!
Perfect review. Thank you.
Perfect-Love it! Thanks Bart!
Gotta get one now. R41 is a little much yet my favorite. Now, when you get some in stock, please let me know. Awesome as always. Hoo-YAH MOTIVATOR!
Both razors are nice but I really like the wooden handle version.
Hey Geo, what's up! I ordered a premier 3" Red latigo strop 2-9-18 & was wondering how to track it. I dig your videos looking forward to the next one. Geo, Have a Good day!
Hello there, i am somewhat new to DE razor shaving. I started out about 2 months ago, and bought the chrome butterfly Wilkinson razor. Tried all sorts of different blades with that Wilkinson razor as i bought a sample pack from Amazon. I found the Feather and Astra blades to be the best, but i still had a lot of irritation on my neck.... Today my Muhle Rocca arrived. It is such a smooth shave! The difference is huge! Love this razor... no nicks, no bumps, just baby smooth 😃👍
Welcome aboard! Thanks for sharing!
Do you recommend rocca
I used merkur when I had a lot of irritation
@@ibrahimallan4197 No I do not! The Rocca was my first bit more "expensive" razor, and I used it for about 6 months until i bought another razor. First I got me a vintage Gillette Slim Twist, which was more mild than the Rocca, and it was way better. Then I got a Muhle R41, which is now my daily driver. The Rocca gave me a lot of razor burn, and weepers. Both the Gillette and the r41 do not. Of course it may be all about my technique, and also YMMV :)
@@stromticians7234 thank you
@@stromticians7234 I will buy razor close comp for biggner
Very nice video, thanks!
Thank you Alexandros!
Muhle razors are of outstanding quality and the price is really good too! While Merkur razors feel more "industrial" - heavy duty and dependable, but not as nicely finished (will get the job well done, but nothing to marvel at), the Muhle feel just as dependable, they give great shaves and their fit and finish is spotless. They almost feel like a piece of jewelry.
Now I want to buy a rocca razor. 👍
Good wishes from the Piney Woods of East Texas. Well done video. The Rocca is on short list for next DE razor.
Thank Pete! bit.ly/RoccaSN
This is a little late, but whereabouts in East Texas?
Hi dude, I´ve missed your vids !!
Thanks Lars!
I know I’m 2 years late - great review - when I started wet shaving I’d bought a R41 at a garage sale (I just didn’t know any better) & my 1st few shaves, well let’s not talk about em, for me I thought it was normal to🩸😆 - I gonna buy this razor based on you’re review cause I think it’s great looking & could be a daily driver for me
Ps. I have strange beard like steel wool, I guess that’s what you get for being a 🇸🇪 😂 again thanks GFB
~ Saludos
How did you go?
They look good
A couple of beautiful razors!
Great video! What about the birch bark handle? Is it durable? Does it soak up water? Which safety razor would you choose (the same price in my country, Poland): Mühle Rocca R95 or Mühle Purist R55SR? The latter's handle's made of Karelian masur birch wood, not bark.
I have a shavett straight razor it's a tomb 45 would u ever do a review on it
Thanks for the upload, nice shave. I really enjoyed my first 2 shaves with thus razor but sadly not the third.... It broke, fell into the basin and the thread completely snapped off the end. It is just welded on, not 1 piece. I will contact Muhle tomorrow, seems a bit strange it should break so easy.
Mühle have meanwhile changed the production process. They've been selling exclusively the fourth version of their Rocca heads, entirely NC-machine-milled, since November last year, after the first three versions, partially or entirely MIM-produced heads, received harsh criticism for providing rough shaves, being faulty or even breaking up.
This looks like a great razor. I'm very interested in purchasing one in that line. Are the Mocca R94 , R95, and R96s the same except for the handles?
very good
Thanks Mo!
Any issues with corrosion? Do I have to dry them each time after use?
Hi Geo, which one do you personally prefer: Rocca or Rex Envoy? and why in your personal opinion?
The Muhle R41's the only razor I'll ever need, but great video and review nonetheless 😎
You must have some heavy beard growth, do you use the R41 every day, or every few days?
geofatboy every day mate its the only razor that I can get consistently good shaves from 😂
@@BlackCat-87 I know your comment is old but hopefully you see this, do you recommend the R41 for head shaving? my hair is very tough and thick on my head and am experiencing tugging and pulling with my Merkur Futur on the highest setting, have you tried the Futur? it's considered very aggressive even on setting 1.
@@George-um2vc Hi George I'd definitely recommend the r41 head shaving it's a great razor definitely worth the money
@@BlackCat-87 thanks my dude
February baby expect my order for the birch wood
Got one on the shelf with your name on it!
Nice shave. I keep getting irritation with feather blade
Lovely razor geo is that aggressive than the r89 and that's great for those who don't like the r41
I go over that near the end of the video...
Hey Geo or any viewers - I bought the Muhle R89 Grande to start wet shaving, started practicing on my face after many many years of cartridge shaving - I am a head shaver as well - any recommendations on how to start on the head with a DE Razor?
Hi there! A little too late, I suppose, but here's my opinion. The head can stand more aggressive approach than the face. Try Mühle R41 and Merkur 37C, which is a slant bar, and see what you are most comfortable with. Best regards!
Will you be doing a review of the black handle Rocca Geo?
If you watch till the end you will see info on the black one.
Hey geofatboy I’m looking for the closest shave possible. I’ve used cartridge razors, straight razors, DE razors and I’m now on the feather ss Japanese version. Is there anything better than the feather ss Japanese version?
The Feather folding version 😀 Its a matter of personal preference. Best part of them is its always a sharp blade coming out of the injector. The choice of most professional barbers.
Geo , I hope you are doing well . As usual the best shaving videos @ur channel. How aggressive muhle rocca compared to parker 26c open comb and smoothness?
Thanks Raj. A couple clicks above it
@@geofatboy thanks Geo
Could it be , that the angle is a little bit different to other razors? It is not the "standard" 30° angle. I still have not found it after several shavings. Any hints? Thanks in advance.
Moist beard, sharp blade, proper angle
What is the mm of the neck on these?
The same from UK. You are the best and I really enjoy your videos.
Muhle Rocca is very beautiful, but also very, very expensive, around £100 and a matching shaving brush from Muhle, more or less the same price, so around £200 for a real deluxe shaving pleasure. I will stick with my Edwin Jagger DE and Wilkinson brush and Palmolive shaving stick. It does the trick.
But it arise an interesting question:
That is the real best deluxe shaving set outthere? Something from Lamborgini or Rolls Royce? Only of interest.
I don't care for the scent of TOBS Sandalwood, the Sandalwood scent is too light and then there's that floral note and it's like, "What were they going for?" I much prefer Haslinger Sandalwood.
Am I mistaken or does the R 95 razor head look a lot like the R 89?
Muhle and Edwin Jagger are in bed together so to speak...
TOBS Sandalwood is EVERYONE'S favorite!!!
Lol! NIce!
Noobie here looking to buy my first safety razor after 20+ years of cartridges. Have sensitive skin as well. Rocca or R89 better? Thanks!

@@geofatboy thanks! Just ordered one after getting your feedback!
I’m looking for a good sandalwood cologne

how can you shave outside in front of that beautiful cityscape? Do you have an outside sink?
What is the blade gap?
It's a German state secret...
If they called it the ROCCO....
I woulda bought one! 👍

What is slicker soap under 9$ ?
Shave sticks can be very inexpensive, Arko, Derby, Palmolive, etc.
