      @bigbadb10 Depends, how long does a cartridge last you?
      Id say most people change their blades once a week or every 3-5 shaves. Some people do it longer but for .10 cents a blade (depending on brand and what your face likes.) Its still dirt cheap.

    I appreciate your no nonsense presentation. I hope you put more comparison vids out. Worth watching if you want to know differences between razors. Started with merkur 34c, have tried multiple others and keep coming back to the 34c. It's simple, it works. Been using the same one since 2012. 7 years later and still find no complaints with it. Ymmv. Nothing more needs to be said.

    I think you've taken price into account in the making of this video, it's very appreciative really. All the razors you've presented are reasonably priced, a lot more people can take your advice into account and thus get into the wetshaving world much easier.
    A lot of these top 10 lists have razors like the Rex Ambassador and Karves and the lot which are roughly 200$, while are undeniably nice to use, have a hefty price point and thus lock out a large segment of the wet shaving customer base and discourage beginners.

    • @Baggereeno
      @Baggereeno 4 года назад

      Although it would've been nice if you mentioned that the 6S has a cheaper variant which is the 6C, and shaves similarly, but one is stainless steel and the other is Zamak
      But again, much appreciated

    Ive got an old 1960 Gillette Fatboy adjustable shaver that used to be my dads. I had used cartridge shavers for years but the replacement cartridges got so expensive that I decided to go back to the old double edge shaver. It had been so long since I had used one that I forgot how easy it is to nick yourself with them. I noticed that it makes a difference in which blades to use and for the ones I have tried the Gillette blades seem to work the best. I haven't tried Astra or Feather blades yet but may do so one day. I set my shaver on 5 and that gives me a close shave with less chance of nicks than on 9 but nicks are much less common now that I have gotten used to it.

  • @eminusipi
    @eminusipi 4 года назад +4

    I bought a Merkur 34c and I found a lot of play in both the blade exposure on both sides and also non parallel blade seating. This can be corrected if you adjust the blade while tightening it down but it's a pain to do every time I clean and dry the razor after each use. Maybe I just got a bad copy but other people have noticed the same thing. My Edwin Jagger is better but the best spot on that I have is my Rockwell 6C. Perfect, drop in the blade and good to go. I might be too picky but considering the small price difference the Rockwell is the better bargain and it has six levels of aggressiveness too.

It is much easier to shave legs using a razor with a longer handle than a regular handle to me. So I'd suggest mentioning longer handled razors for women interested in safety razors.

    I started with double edge razor to save some money on the cartridge razor shave. But the real factor was boring lockdown. So started with a King C Gillette double edge safety razor then I saw your channel and tried a mercur 34c later switched to 37c doesn't feel much changes so tried Muhle r41 Grande and I found it's good for me but I didn't stoped and tried a rockwell 6s it's good quality razor but doesn't glide on the skin. So brought another stainless steel razor Feather D2. Now my plan is to use a straight razor. Appart from razor, I brought so many brushes also. Started with omega boar brush then Kent vs70 brush then a muhle rytmo pure badger petrol blue colour brush. Now I got a Parker silver tip badger with olive wood handle, it's a very good brush. Apparently to save some money on the cartridge replacement I spend a lot of money. If any one new in to wet shaving try feather D2 with Parker olive wood silver tip. Best blade is feather original or one with Japanese inscription. I am a vegan so doesn't explore much with shaving soap other than glycerin soap. The moral is wet shaving is really an addiction.

    If you want an excellent shave with minimal cost, time and effort try this: Q-Shave adjustable razor (a Merkur clone for $20) and Creemo. Remember, a close, nick free shave is 90% technique and 10% equipment.

    I usually get red marks and irritation from most razors. My skin is sensitive. But i still need a sharp one otherwise it wont cut enough. Will give it a try

      I switched to de shaving after watching a lot of geofatboy's videos and do a cold water shave after a warm shower. Rarely any irritation now. Good luck!

      @@geofatboy For most part i shower then use Gillette sensative shaving cream and use a gillette fusion to shave. Shave downwards with grain then against it and a bit side ways on the chin area.
      Tried the sensitive razor but it doesnt cut that good and it still looks like a 5 o'clock shave. Also tried several electric razors but again they dont cut well. Haven't tried a dry shave with it.
      Specially the adams apple area is always very hard and irritated.

    I'm very clean and all my grooming tools are stainless steel and easy to clean, i.e. disassembles with no hidden parts, so I can scrub ALL parts with bleach. Can you recommend a safety razor like that?

    Merry Christmas and thanks for another great video. I have the Rockwell c6 and the Parker Slant myself. I use the Rockwell as my everyday razor on setting 2. I'm still pretty new to this so that lets me get a good shave with little to no irritation. So far the Parker is a little aggressive for me but I still use it when I have a few days growth.

    Here I am. I use a Muhle R89 when I shave everyday or when my skin is irritated due to cold wind or too many girls' kisses. The other de razor I use is the Merkur Future. At the gentlest setting it is more aggressive than the Muhle R89, but when the beard is 2-3 days old, it is far more effective at 2-3 setting than the Muhle R89.

    I've bought into most cartridge razors over the years, but always returned to DE safety razors along with a traditional shaving brush and bowl with a good quality shaving soap. My preffered razors are: Merkur Futur, Merkur, 37c and Merkur Progress. For a blade I invariably use either a Gillette Nacet or their Pol-Silver. The soap I'm really loving at the moment is Saponificio Varesino~Tundra Artica.
    Love all your shaving Vlogs.

    Man , those are nice ! If I can ask a question about aggressiveness . Ive been shaving with my Gillette gold color 3 pc for about forever and I like it but its the only DE I've used . So my question is .... how aggressive are the old Gillette's ? I like that Parker 22r you showed in gun metal . It just looks super cool . Mine is very old and the color is wearing through but I do like it and would like to stay in the " same aggressiveness " . Great video btw . God bless

    Love your video reviews. Subscribed due to both your production quality and candor when reviewing products.
    I started shaving with a DE safety razor about a year ago. Made the switch from cartridges and my face is glad I did. Use the Merkur 23C on a daily basis. I like it. Bought a Parker 98R Super Heavyweight thinking that’s what I wanted next. Was way too heavy and slippery in my hands. Also too aggressive for me to use on a daily basis.
    Am considering another purchase to step up from my Merkur 23C. Have watched A TON of reviews. Although it’s pricey, will probably pull the trigger on a Rex Supply Co. Ambassador in the next month or two as a Fathers Day or B Day present to myself.
    What do you recommend to be my next purchase?
