I appreciate your no nonsense presentation. I hope you put more comparison vids out. Worth watching if you want to know differences between razors. Started with merkur 34c, have tried multiple others and keep coming back to the 34c. It's simple, it works. Been using the same one since 2012. 7 years later and still find no complaints with it. Ymmv. Nothing more needs to be said.
6 years ago I ordered the Edwin jagger de89 after watching your video of it’s use. Still using it to this day and have enjoyed wet shaving since. Thanks Geo have a great holiday and new year!
Good choice, that was a great version, paired with a good soap and badger brush. They’ve recently updated the design of the head slightly and produces a slightly more aggressive shave.
@bigbadb10 Depends, how long does a cartridge last you? Id say most people change their blades once a week or every 3-5 shaves. Some people do it longer but for .10 cents a blade (depending on brand and what your face likes.) Its still dirt cheap.
bigbadb10 lol hey if gillete does go out of business I’m definitely switching to a safety razor I might even buy one very soon seems like they will definitely go out of business soon a lot of people seem to dislike them
I just got a Rockwell 6S. I have tried a few wet shaving razors prior to the Rockwell 6S. Never really got a good shave from the other razors I had. The Rockwell 6S for me has been the best experience in wet shaving. I highly recommend the Rockwell 6S.
I really enjoy all of your videos. I really appreciate how you take the time to teach as you demonstrate products and or give your list such as this video. If you have children I’m sure they learned a lot from you and not just with shaving. I’m new to wet shaving only about 2 months now after having a full beard for many years and I’ve learned a lot from your videos.
Just wanted to say thankyou for vids Geo. Recently started wet shaving with a safety razor. All of your content is very helpful and I appreciate the upfront approach. Cheers from Australia.
Parker 96R was my first safety razor, very mild and gives me a nice smooth and clean shave, defenitley will buy more Parker safety razors in the near future
I have a Merkur 34C since 22 years and still it serve me as it's new. I have tried Edwin Jagger, Muhle and Parker but always ended with 34C. Muhle and Edwin Jagger are upto the mark for me but Parker is pathetic. Thanks.
I think you've taken price into account in the making of this video, it's very appreciative really. All the razors you've presented are reasonably priced, a lot more people can take your advice into account and thus get into the wetshaving world much easier. A lot of these top 10 lists have razors like the Rex Ambassador and Karves and the lot which are roughly 200$, while are undeniably nice to use, have a hefty price point and thus lock out a large segment of the wet shaving customer base and discourage beginners.
Although it would've been nice if you mentioned that the 6S has a cheaper variant which is the 6C, and shaves similarly, but one is stainless steel and the other is Zamak But again, much appreciated
@@Baggereeno I have the 6C and it shaves so well for $50 I haven't seen the need to upgrade to the 6S. Besides, I have too many other razors to begin with! LOL
Thank you Yazan. You are correct. I tried to keep it limited to popular razors ready to ship at Shave Nation and all within a reasonable price point. Glad you noticed and thanks for commenting. Most newcomers aren't going to jump in with a $250 razor.
Ive got an old 1960 Gillette Fatboy adjustable shaver that used to be my dads. I had used cartridge shavers for years but the replacement cartridges got so expensive that I decided to go back to the old double edge shaver. It had been so long since I had used one that I forgot how easy it is to nick yourself with them. I noticed that it makes a difference in which blades to use and for the ones I have tried the Gillette blades seem to work the best. I haven't tried Astra or Feather blades yet but may do so one day. I set my shaver on 5 and that gives me a close shave with less chance of nicks than on 9 but nicks are much less common now that I have gotten used to it.
Got a Merkur razor in the early 1970s. I still use it. Still looks new. The only thing I changed was the blades. Eventually, I determined that. Feather brand blades were probably the best. @discovered shaving, cheap! Is the best way to go!
I got the 3one6 and it’s the razor that I use every day. I have lots including straight razors but for me this 3one6 just rocks it every time . Now I’m not buying razors that much but I’m trying different soaps and aftershaves/preshaves ...... it never ends lol but why should shaving be a chore and why not take those few minutes and spoil yourself !
I would like to thank you very much for showing me how to shave properly and save me so much money on blade's I am 60 years old and would like to have seen these videos when I started shaving again many thanks
Agreed! The R89 and the R41 are great razors but Muhle has not been able to supply them to us so they were left off the list. All the razors ON the list are in stock for same day shipping at ShaveNation.com
Just got my R89 Twist a few weeks ago from SN. Geo's recent video on it being his favorite had me wanting to try it. I'm not disappointed in my purchase at all.
@@geofatboy Can we buy in Shavenation if I live in México? I listened that in that page I can buy everything of good quality for shaving, soo I can buy if I live in México??? Cheers Peter
I bought a Merkur 34c and I found a lot of play in both the blade exposure on both sides and also non parallel blade seating. This can be corrected if you adjust the blade while tightening it down but it's a pain to do every time I clean and dry the razor after each use. Maybe I just got a bad copy but other people have noticed the same thing. My Edwin Jagger is better but the best spot on that I have is my Rockwell 6C. Perfect, drop in the blade and good to go. I might be too picky but considering the small price difference the Rockwell is the better bargain and it has six levels of aggressiveness too.
Rockwell 6S favorite razor by far. Pretty much keep It on four which is perfect. I use my rex ambassador more bc I like the mechanicalness of it and its new, but not as good a shave
I started with double edge razor to save some money on the cartridge razor shave. But the real factor was boring lockdown. So started with a King C Gillette double edge safety razor then I saw your channel and tried a mercur 34c later switched to 37c doesn't feel much changes so tried Muhle r41 Grande and I found it's good for me but I didn't stoped and tried a rockwell 6s it's good quality razor but doesn't glide on the skin. So brought another stainless steel razor Feather D2. Now my plan is to use a straight razor. Appart from razor, I brought so many brushes also. Started with omega boar brush then Kent vs70 brush then a muhle rytmo pure badger petrol blue colour brush. Now I got a Parker silver tip badger with olive wood handle, it's a very good brush. Apparently to save some money on the cartridge replacement I spend a lot of money. If any one new in to wet shaving try feather D2 with Parker olive wood silver tip. Best blade is feather original or one with Japanese inscription. I am a vegan so doesn't explore much with shaving soap other than glycerin soap. The moral is wet shaving is really an addiction.
Started with the DE89 and landed on the knock off Futur (the QShave). I think I might have a go at the actual Futur. Love the style of the razor, and the versatility. Agree that the only problem is hard to reach under the nose with it, but can it gets easier with a little practice.
I usually get red marks and irritation from most razors. My skin is sensitive. But i still need a sharp one otherwise it wont cut enough. Will give it a try

Great video, Between the Parker 22R and the Gillette King C which one? I want to steer clear of the 5 blade cartridge and move to safety razors. I also have an electric Panasonic but those things can't shave the neck area, Thanks; )
I have a question if there is a razor I have that gets dull over time. Or needs to be fix Does your company Re-polish the razor. Or redcoats the razor. Do you offer that ?
I've bought into most cartridge razors over the years, but always returned to DE safety razors along with a traditional shaving brush and bowl with a good quality shaving soap. My preffered razors are: Merkur Futur, Merkur, 37c and Merkur Progress. For a blade I invariably use either a Gillette Nacet or their Pol-Silver. The soap I'm really loving at the moment is Saponificio Varesino~Tundra Artica. Love all your shaving Vlogs.
The plating of gold futurs is a disaster, came off after less than a month of use , that’s why never back to Merkur, ordering a variant and happy with it now
Man , those are nice ! If I can ask a question about aggressiveness . Ive been shaving with my Gillette gold color 3 pc for about forever and I like it but its the only DE I've used . So my question is .... how aggressive are the old Gillette's ? I like that Parker 22r you showed in gun metal . It just looks super cool . Mine is very old and the color is wearing through but I do like it and would like to stay in the " same aggressiveness " . Great video btw . God bless
Thank You. For the review. You have me thinking to get a new razor 🪒 with your company. I always enjoy your videos. Please ! Keep making these great videos. It’s very helpful
I like my one blade - it gives a first rate shave , I have quite a few examples of DE razors and they are all good razors I guess it all comes down to personal preference
I am currently shaving with the Oneblade Core and I think it is much better than cartridge blades. Their blades don't come cheap, however, and I am looking into DE razors as my next solution. I really love the design of the Manscaped the Plow 2.0 but there are not many reviews for it out there. Would geofatboy or anyone here recommended it over the Merkur long handle? I don't dig the short handle design at all. Thanks

Looking for great razor blades to use when I shave my head any good recommendations?
I bought the Merkur 34c from Shave Nation a couple years ago and i still love it. It’s the only one I use.
i got a 33c off of Amazon and it's neat. Not a single nick, no burn, well worth the price.
I've got three of the ones you listed. Merry Christmas Geofatboy.
Thanks Rick. Merry Christmas to you and yours and all the best in 2020.
Happy holidays.
Why no mention of the feather AS-D2?
I find the AS-D2 clogs up to easily, just saying.
Hi Sam. Happy Holidays. Excellent stainless steel razor yet a bit pricey for beginners.
Is parker 29L good for first-time DE user?
Nice unisex razor medium aggressive!

Merry Christmas! Love the video and the store!
Thanks so much DrRon. Merry Christmas to you.
Great video. You could make other videos just like this one for DE blades, brushes etc. Merry Christmas , Geo !
Thanks Nick! More like this to come! Thanks for the comment.
Geo, I always enjoy your videos! I hope that you have a happy and prosperous new year!
What about r89 twist? You had another video where you called it either your favorite or go-to razor. Was that some time before?
Thanks Geo.... Great video... Thanks for your help with my Rockwell razor!
Thanks Doug! Enjoy you're Rockwell.
Merkur Futur... excellent razor and a piece of art.
Always a favorite! The Futur: A very futuristic looking and unique razor.
Another great video about razors I own five of them already would recommend them all. Merry Xmas Geo and keep the videos coming in 20/20
Thanks so much Peter. Merry Christmas and all the best to you and yours in 2020. I'm geared up to pump out lots of videos in the year ahead.
Just bought from your website after finding this video. Keep up the great content! It works!
The plating of gold futurs is a disaster, came off after less than a month of use , that’s why never back to Merkur, ordering a variant and happy with it now
Once I got my Rockwell a few years ago, I don’t use anything else accept for my Muhle R41. The Rockwell is supreme for me.
God bless
The 22R bit.ly/Parker22Rrazor would be similar to your razor.
@geofatboy That looks beautiful.cool , I have a Parker pure badger brush , it'll make a nice set . Thank you
Tried the Viking , Edwin jagger. Merkur 34 c hands down.
would the head on the Merkur 23c be the same as the 34c?
I love my Rockwell 6S. It's good.
Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas to all.
Thanks Sergiy. Enjoy that 6S! Merry Christmas and all the best to you and yours in 2020!
Thank You. For the review. You have me thinking to get a new razor 🪒 with your company. I always enjoy your videos. Please ! Keep making these great videos. It’s very helpful
Happy New Year Geofatboy
Hi Samir! Happy New Year to you as well.
@geofatboy is there an adjustable razor that will leave a slight shadow? Similar to an electric shaver with the number 0000
Happy holidays, Geofatboy!
Thanks Spitz! Merry Christmas and all the best to you and yours in 2020!
Thanks
