I mean the Oracle said you would find the bolt and see it safely returned. Nothing there about making it before the solstice. Definitely not surprised that Rick threw that in to surprise not only the series watchers but the loyal book readers too
Hermes knew Annabeth would take his keys, he's the God of thieves, and having someone steal from him isn't something he'd just miss. Even Annabeth said there's no way he would have missed something like that.
Lin-Manuel Miranda was great in this episode. I thought they'd have a more comedic take on Hermes but I really loved what they did instead. I think his scene with Percy and Annabeth is one of my favorites in the whole series so far
The dream Percy was having with Hades talking to the person who took the master bolt was his principal who was introduced in the first episode. Percy saw him as his Principal since he expelled Percy and Percy views him as a villain in his mind so that is why he saw Hades as his Principal. This also happened in the 3rd episode with the Orical. Percy saw the Orical as his step-father who in Precy's mind is scary.
In the books, they do make it before the solstice, they actually make it to Olympus right before midnight the day of. But they only get three pearls. As a big fan of the books, I'm so excited to see where they go from here!
It's interesting how the kids experience these gods as neglectful parents who they have to prove themselves worthy to, even though the gods have never proven themselves worthy of their children.
There must have been a reason Hermes purposely kept them there at that table and I actually think it was to prevent them from forgetting. Like, I think that specific area was immune/safe from the Lotus Flower effects. As for knowing the clock was running out on their quest, I think he did that on purpose because he may have been told to by Poseidon. He did after all tell Percy that it was Poseidon who told him not to give him any help.
I wish the indoor casino was a bit more fantastical. It wasn't a bad episode, but it wasn't my favorite. This is a huge departure from the books, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the show can stick the landing....
Keep in mind the budget restrictions of the show and the development of the Hermes/Luke relationship. It was a great ride for me even as a book reader!
I get that but also the book scene is really just filler and I think they wanted to use it for plot instead tho I do think they could have played more games :)

I agree. Made that character very relatable.
I think he WILL be more comedic in other episodes he appears in the future, but this episode required him to be a bit more serious.

She IS A naiad, but it's not really her NAME. Unless these kinds of creatures are like Pokemon, then, maybe.
Actually it's Nereid. Meaning sea spirit. Naiads are fresh water spirit. It's not really a name but what they are called.
