@@beraor4296 not really, i looked at tryndas pov and his prod would have overwhelmed him regardless a no war bonus civ vs alex which has an insane early war unit+great generals at most herson could delay it a bit longer. Wasnt really anything he could do against 2x prod when hes on eleanor
early war is good with godspawn on a civ with ONLY war bonuses and even then if he just killed a cs once every 10 turns he would have actually gotten first

I do think having different playstyles be viable is an important part of a great multiplayer experience, not just having one meta, but obviously even if you built units and walls, he can always just choose another target, or beat you anyway with his insane classical units and double production, and by doing that you guarantee you can't win or even come top 3. Macedon saw a weak target, sure. However.. turn 1 macedon’s only game-plan was to dominate the whole world (why he tech’d encampments > horses). That’s a meme victory type and he was lucky he managed to get 2nd at all. There’s a reason at the highest levels of play FFA civ players don’t do this; it’s risky and basically locks you out of 1st place. Herson got unlucky spawning next to such a shit player
To be honest, the part that really tripped me up this game is that Macedon was at war with Brazil, whom he shared a border with, from like turn 28 onwards. I could tell from the military score that Macedon didn't have enough units to fight a war on two fronts, so I figured I could play a bit more recklessly to make up for my relatively low tempo start. The only problem? While Macedon was at war with Brazil and did share a border with him, they weren't actually fighting. Neither player had any units actually fighting on their border at all, it was just a complete misdirect. If I had known Macedon wasn't really fighting with anybody yet when I saw the 160 military score, I would've prepared horses ahead of time, even knowing that doing so would meaningfully set me back.
