01:20, it’s a foot longer than the Maverick. Six inches wider. And about seven inches taller.

I built one at Ford online, and a nicely equipped lariat 4x4 with the 2.7 Ecoboost was over 52K. YIKES!

Just get the XLT trim. If you’re gonna pay 52k for a mid size get the Colorado Zr2 (Raptor equivalent) from GM!

It is pretty bizarre that the only model that gets push button is the Lariat. Do they really consider push button start a "luxury" item?

I have a ford with keyless and two with keys. Its a mixed experience. Sometimes you will go to park and the auto start/stop shuts off the engine and then when you hit the keyless button it starts the engine back up. I also don't like when I lock the doors with the inside button and it double honks because it thinks you are about to lock the keys in the car. The unlock with the handles sucks. Sometimes my wife grabs the passenger handle at the same time I grab the drivers and hers unlocks and mine locks it back up and neither door opens. During car washes as I go around the vehicle it keeps turning the lights on and off as I get close to the doors sensing the key. People watching probably wonder why all the lights keep blinking. The vehicles with the keys do exactly what you expect every time. I would say I prefer keyed but think ford should offer keyless as a option on all packages.

I disagree about the Colorado/Canyon. The 2.7L is louder and seems less refined. The Ranger has more tech, especially with the Advanced Tow Package. The GM twins are actually not as fast as the Ranger is with the 2.3L ecoboost - probably due to the 10 spd in the Ranger. The GM twins also only offer an all black interior, and the front passenger seat only has 4 way manual adjustment at all trim levels. Whereas the Ranger offers an 8-way manual or power adjustable front passenger seat.
I test drove both the Ranger and the Colorado and found them to be fairly comparable in how they drive and ride. However, to get some of the same tech options on the Colorado, it actually pushed the price higher than the Ranger. I also thought the packages for the Colorado were needlessly complex. They are simpler for the Canyon, but that's because some options on the Colorado are standard on the Canyon, which comes at a higher price.

GM also offers availability. While rangers are starting to show up on lots here the GM twins have been available for about a year around my area. Still no 2.7 rangers on lots here.

The Ranger is the best mid sizer, easily. This guy must be biased toward Chevy/GM. The 2.3 Ranger waxes the 2.7 in a straightline as well.

I just bought an XLT a month ago, I like it, I wish it had heated seats, especially for $43K, but I can live without it. The key doesn’t bother me, all around, it’s a decent truck. A bit overpriced but what isn’t nowadays.

Just sitting in one at the dealership, I have an issue with the head rest. It leans too far forward. I have watched a lot of reviews, but no one has mentioned it. Maybe I have a weird elongated head?

Interesting fact, this new Ranger is a global truck and VW is in a partnership with Ford, so the new Amarok is a Ranger twin so to say. It does not have any physical butrons, hence the need for it in the screen. Ford added physical buttons because it works better for some people. There is actually a few differences between the global and American Ranger.

I could not care less about an actual key. Not like these princesses in the comments. This truck has so many other usable awesome features, not to mention a great looking infotainment screen, that a simple key wont ruin my pick.

I am sure a lot of thought went into differentiation of the interior between the Mav and the Ranger. If the Maverick had the same level of interior design as the Ranger “lariat vs lariat”…. I would think a lot of people would opt for the maverick. I am just picking up my ranger on the weekend, but really like the Maverick as a daily year round driver.

@@davidfeiler2265 Oh shut up. Id rather have a PHEV. You probably don't even know how it differs from an EV. You can select to run in EV mode, gas or hybrid mode. EV for around town. Hybrid in city traffic or gas for long trips. My wife has a PHEV SUV. We save nearly $2000 per year on gas, which is primarily used for road trips so we don't have to deal with finding a charging station. A PHEV is the best of both worlds.
