  • Summaries of both trucks below:
    *Maverick*
Ford has enjoyed long-term success with its F-150 full-size pickup, dominating the market for decades. Leveraging this expertise, Ford introduced the unibody compact truck, the Maverick, two years ago. The Maverick quickly became popular, outselling the larger Ford Ranger. Its appeal lies in its crossover SUV-like driving experience, built on the same platform as the Ford Bronco Sport and Ford Escape.
The Maverick comes as a four-door crew cab seating five, with ample interior storage. It offers two powertrain options: a 250-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine or a 190-horsepower hybrid rated at 37 mpg combined. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available for the non-hybrid. For off-road enthusiasts, there are two off-road packages, including the Tremor.
Despite its small size, the Maverick is capable, with a 4.5-foot bed suitable for home improvement projects and garden supplies. It can handle up to 1,500 pounds of cargo and tow up to 4,000 pounds when properly equipped. The bed features various accessories and tie-down cleats for securing loads.
The Maverick stands out in the U.S. market for its compact size, with its closest competitor being the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Larger alternatives include the Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier midsize pickups.
    *Ranger*
The all-new 2024 Ford Ranger midsize pickup is designed to align more closely with the full-size F-150 in terms of performance, capability, and cabin comfort, targeting a market beyond the light-duty focus of the Ford Maverick. The 2024 Ranger is streamlined to a single popular configuration: a four-door crew-cab with a short bed, offering enhanced passenger space, upgraded materials, and advanced technology.
This model introduces the high-performance Ranger Raptor in the U.S., featuring a 405-horsepower twin-turbo V6, wide-body stance, long-travel suspension, and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Unlike its predecessor, the 2024 Ranger is built specifically for the North American market, incorporating Ford Tough features and design cues from the F-150, which has been the top-selling vehicle in the U.S. for over forty years.
The new Ranger enters a competitive market at a time of heightened interest in midsize pickups, contending with the redesigned Nissan Frontier, Chevrolet Colorado, GMC Canyon, and the new-generation Toyota Tacoma.

I am confused. What is the point of comparing a Maverick to an all out off road Ranger Raptor. Totally different machines with hugely different capabilities. A comparison with a basic Ranger would make a lot more sense. This is like comparing a Smart for two with a Toyota Avalon. It's nice to know what a Raptor Ranger is all about and what a Maverick is all about but comparing the two is not useful.

What was I thinking?! Maybe I should have explained it better in the introduction? Oh wait, I did.

@@everymandriver Explained or not this comparison is a waste of time for some viewers but I understand the need for content and viewership. I mean no disrespect. I just didn't find the comparison useful to me. Others may enjoy it. To each his own. The title says "2024 Ford Maverick vs 2024 Ford Ranger". It does not say "2024 Ford Maverick VS 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor". I suppose I just found that a bit misleading or at best inaccurate.

But remember the “non-truck” is out-selling the other right now. Sales drives attention. 😉

Both are trucks by definition because they have separate bed from cab. Guess you like calling girls boys and boys rocks too.

What is the definition of a "truck". Is it a vehicle with an open box designed to hall things? Ask 100 people for the definition and how many answers will you get? I had a 2018 F150 4WD extended cab that had a 1260lb payload capacity. My 2023 Maverick Lariat AWD has a payload of 1496lbs. The Maverick suits my current trucking needs but my three previous F150s suited my needs at the time I had them and would be overkill for my current needs.

Both are trucks, and both are made for different users.
The Mav is more for a daily driver, while the Ranger is for user who wants more "off road" capacities... They are both capable vehicles.
