    I suffered a tight strained voice for 9 years and I am not relying on botox anymore.I done the exercises my vocal therapist gave me and practiced for 30 minutes and noticed a massive clear change in my voice without botox.
    I could not rely on botox anymore because it is costly and only gives temporary relief.
    vocal retraining I recommend seeing a voice and speech pathologist. not botox because botox will not stop the strain it will only provide temporary releif. it ain't a way to improve your strained voice exercises are a better way to retrain your natural voice flow. I done this and could speak clear for all day. less tension and more open voice.

      @@LizBills so just for some feedback, I’ve been crapping myself since I haven’t gigged for months and recently I was virtually voiceless. So I got to trying to fix it, been to docs, have ENT in a few months so found your video and started training that and slowly trying to come back to my usual voice. I also used my in ears on a solo for the first time and the combined effect was good. I got through it and kept resetting in the breaks. Today I’m a little vocally smashed nonetheless, I’m quite out of shape, so I’m not sure what to do now. SHUTUP, or exercise gently? Is there a post-gig recovery video in your set? 🙏🏽

I would listen to your body... check in with gentle glides and slides.. humming.. lip buzzes, nice and slidey... not too high or too low to start. I'm officially launching my RUclips channel Tuesday jan. 3rd and ill release 2-3 videos per week. the vocal cool down video will be released soon just keep an eye out. you can also just search RUclips for vocal cool downs in the mean time because my video isn't live yet. xoxo

My default has changed. I think it’s helping me bolster a new norm. My old norm. There’s other things at play, maybe some GERD and acoustic issues too. I’m on top of it all now. Having in IEM really helped as well. I did warm down as I warmed up. I’ve also started apple cider vinegar before each meal to aid with digestion and avoiding animal fats which apparently make the larynx sluggish. Sooo much to do! Thankyou for your support

      these exercises are called SOVT exercises :) check out this video I explain! ruclips.net/video/J4SHMonwNnk/видео.html MTD is muscle tension.. checkout "voicesablaze" on instagram, she has some great info and explanations on why MTD is dysfunctional! You overcome it by these exercises! It's tension, one is using the voice wrong. Some need therapy as well but it depends on the person.. for some there can also be an emotional component but not everyone.

    Do you do these same exercises WHILE in the midst of a voice loss episode? I'm not sure if this is more for the regular maintenance of our voices. I'm currently on day 15 of voice loss with this particular round of silence. My MTD flared up following an upper respiratory infection. I appreciate some new things to try.

    • @LizBills
      @LizBills  Год назад

      Hey Holly :) what does your speech therapist say? Do you have one? If it’s mtd the best course of action is to retrain your voice, not rest it… if you have no voice at all I would work closely w a speech therapist and when the voice is back add on a vocal coach when you’re ready. I know that vocal rest will not fix the issue, retraining the voice through exercises will… practice patience and persistence … if you’re sick and recovering I would def just rest it… drink tons of fluids… steam on the voice… healthy foods, lots of rest.

      @@LizBills I am also, ADHD and despite dropping out of highschool I managed to get through university with a 4.0 GPA as an Education/Special Education double major. I share that to preface that one of the things I found helped me the most was embracing a quality so many adults trained me out of, self-talk.
      I got told so many times that talking to one's self appears insane and is a very bad thing in many various ways. Yet, I have found it is really quite common among neurodivergent people. Furthermore, once I allowed myself to start doing it while studying and even composing essays my academic performance sharply increased. I just needed to imagine myself bouncing information off another person through self talk. Well, now this trait that helped me so much is apparently contributing to my physical discomfort. The thing is, I have been role modeling this not just to children but to grown adults trying to help them to understand how helpful it is for some children and adults.
      Following that line of though, part of my whole teaching style embraces my ADHD characteristics of hyperfocusing and outright hyperactivity which, for me often comes in the form of my pitch, tone and the speed at which I talk fluctuating as I animate and emote a great deal--which works a lot toward increasing student engagement and increasing how impactful my lessons are in terms of being remembered. However, it seems to me that this quality of mine is also a negative for this dysphonia of mine.

    I just popped up here and loved this video. I am an actor with MTD. I played in movies but I had to take a step down. Still do small parts for tv or movies just to be on the set what I love and I am finding my way. My idea of MTD. Everything had to do with breathing. I have had a severe panic moment in my life where I litteraly had to find air. I was almost chocking and after this event my voice went away and never come back. I am getting back on my feet but my question would be the following. My words are falling appart when I try to speak. Most of the time you do understand what I am saying but there's a gap now and then. Not that often. But it is frustrating. Is this normal for MTD?
    I got my first botox shot and they told me next time they increase the dose to counter that. So that should tell me that it is possible that this would return. I dont hear anything in your voice like this. Singing for me is btw no problem in high of low notes. It's my mid register that's totally gone.
    Do these tips help with this? I am going to do them because I need to get my breathing back on track. Hopefully you find some time to let me know if words can re-appaer again with hard training. Thanks so much!

    • @LizBills
      @LizBills  4 месяца назад

      Hello my friend! Have you been officially diagnosed with MTD? I never lost my midrange but MTD presents differently in people. I would address your anxiety if I am understanding correctly? Is the air issue from panic or are you panicking because of a breathing issue?
      Yes I would do these exercises because they will not harm your voice, as long as you’ve been officially diagnosed and are okay to do so.
