    Oh Liz.....I have found you in the last 48 hours and you have put a name to what I have been challenged with. I've watched all your videos and practiced along with you. I'm so glad you shared your story in a video.......to hear that so many others have been told the same thing by ENT's and Doctors....there is nothing wrong with you. Take these drugs and go away because there is nothing we can change except to mask the phantom pain. You are so genuine and it comes right through the screen.......yes I can journey on through MTD and see the gift in the challenge.

    • @LizBills
      @LizBills  4 года назад +10

      Stefano Bacigalupo hmm for the most part yes but I do sometimes have bad days. I’m currently seeking alternative treatment to heal my gut. I continue down the path to healing and also to enlightenment with yoga and meditation. I can sing and speak ... teach 30 kids per week w minimal to no pain at all, so I’d say yes I’ve healed from the terrible burning in my throat. I have burning now in my arms and hands at Times... problems w jaw tension... but continuing to seek holistic treatments and every year I am healthier and happier.

      Sorry to answer again but, I need to know if Mtd a thing that can be cure or only be treaten?

    • @LizBills
      @LizBills  4 года назад +9

      Stefano Bacigalupo it can be cured for some .. and managed for others. I think if I remain an anxious person for my life I may always have some sort of tension in my body .. because it is in my mind. But In the summers when I’m stress free (I don’t work) the MTD is gone completely for me now.. so I know it can be cured. It’s a complex disorder that involves retraining the voice, making sure posture is good.. and also working on the mind to become more relaxed and present.. to not worry or be so fearful all the time.. to not be thinking all of the time etc... I have singer friends who have healed from MTD so yes it can be healed too.

    Hi Liz, thank you for your videos. My doctor last week diagnosed me with neurogenic/hypersensitive larynx (LHS). Is this the same thing as MTD? It seems to have all the same problems. He prescribed me speech therapy which starts tomorrow and also recommended laryngeal massage. I have not had my normal voice for several years, and it got very very bad in the past 9 months, in addition to other symptoms that were like acid reflux (burning throat and burning mouth) and post nasal drip (I have bad allergies too.) He put a camera down my nose to my vocal cords and had me do different vowels and he said my vocal cords are acting like they are pushing 500 pound weights.

I am a male suffering from tension dysphonia and while doing this straw exercises, i realized that we male have deeper voice so we are supposed to go lower when we are doing the oovo straw exercises. I am not a doctor or anything but i think it only makes sense because she is female so it is fine for her to do the high pitch but since we are male, our muscle tensions could be different. Hi Liz:
    I am so thankful for your videos! You have really shed hope & light for me.... I have reached out to you as I saw somewhere that you did some coaching? I have MTD really bad in my throat...(vocal area and throat/neck) and am really freaked out about it. Is there a way to contact you directly to speak to you? I reached out on Facebook PM, I dont know how to instagram unfortunately. My MTD is so bad that sometimes when I sing I get dizzy now because my throat pulls up so tight Im afraid that it is pulling on my corroded arteries...and I wondered if you had also had that experience? Please return my PM, I would love to call you for referrals if you dont do personal coaching and also for a Dr Referral? I've been on the path of being treated by a speech therapist and now a vocal coach for a couple of months... I was a professional singer as well as speaking for a living in my job a well, and this has been truly devastating.
    Thank you so much!! And at least there is hope!

    hi liz how is MTD diagnosed? does it also cause problems like dissociation and panic disorder? i was always told i have excercise induced asthma and then rediagnosed as vocal chord dysfunction . i have terrible anxiety and insomnia and it really is so hard to breath all the time

    • @LizBills
      @LizBills  8 месяцев назад +1

      I know mtd can be connected to anxiety and other mental health conditions. They diagnose mtd by scoping you with a camera. Usually they can see inflammation, they might incorrectly diagnose with acid reflux, that’s super common. You really have to go to the ent and suggest to them that you think you may have mtd after doing some research (if your symptoms seem in-line with mtd) and then have them scope you. You can ask to work with a speech therapist after if you are having issues with speaking due to your breathing issues.
      I would dive deeper into your mental health and look for ways to relieve your anxiety and insomnia. Some suggestions that have helped me - Meditation, therapy, cold water therapy, nutrient dense diet, spirituality, exercise, time in nature… making sure you feel safe in your life and body… just keep asking for help, keep searching for answers. You will find them. ❤️
