    When I first got MTD, I took 2 months of vocal rest and that did not help at all. After many sessions with a speech pathologist, my voice recovered for the most part. There are days where I relapse and it can be hard, so I appreciate you providing optimism & encouragement for people like us.

      @fighting546 I couldn't say which specific exercises helped me the most. I did them all everyday for a few months and I think it's that regular practice/reptition is what helped me to recover.

    Hi Liz! Your videos have been lifesaving. I have some questions, though.
    1. Do you recommend resuming voice lessons while beginning speech therapy? I am seeing a second ENT next week after the first one diagnosed me with acid reflux. This guy specializes in MTD, so I'm super excited. However, I am wondering if I can start voice lessons again also, since I had to stop because of persistent pain and tension.
    2. On the speech therapy note...do you have to be officially diagnosed with MTD to see a speech therapist?
    3. A new response my vocal cords/throat have is a tickling sensation after speaking or sometimes when even listening to music! Does this sound like an MTD thing to you? I know it can manifest in different ways, for example in your case it was burning.
    THANK YOU for acknowledging that we can grow to perceive speaking/singing as dangerous! That is where I am at right now and it is truly awful.

      Hey if you only have MTD and not other problems (acid reflux is a common issue I was diagnosed w it too but also everyone refluxes, I recommend changing your diet and working on stress, not pills) then vocal lessons are a good idea.
      Yes you need to be diagnosed w mtd or some vocal issue to have speech therapy.
      I’m not sure what the tickling thing is, I’d ask the ent. :) best of luck!

    Does anyone get burning in their throat with this? I went to acid reflux route at first b/c I thought it was that! Is it b/c the vocal cords are inflamed from MTD? I had a tonsillectomy 6 months ago and this sensation happened 3 weeks after surgery is this related? Have you seen this happen? Mine is all in my neck and throat and certain words now with a vowel and an L feel different. I need help

      @@billtanner2928 I had burning in my throat too! I can’t answer these questions.. these questions are for an ENT and a speech therapist. Can you see both specialists? Hi Liz, when you were suffering from this condition, did you experience burning sensations in throat and even up into your mouth/tongue? I am diagnosed with MTD and have these pains. Doctors think it could be nerve related to the tension, but curious if you also experienced them? Thanks!

    Did actually change the way u speak? Also, when u speak is it that the vibrations should be at the facial region rather than at the vocal cord region?

    • @LizBills
      @LizBills  Год назад +2

      It didn’t change the way I speak but it just focused my sound more forward and out of the throat. :) yes more vibration in the front of the face, takes the weight out of the throat… I mean maybe the sound of my voice is brighter these days so perhaps it changed it a little but it’s still my voice.. just more free.
