    Were you able to measure calibrated brightness and contrast as well as verify the 110% of BT2020 advertised spec?

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  8 часов назад

      No - I don't have a spectrophotometer so I can't calibrate or measure triple laser projectors accurately - I mean, "possibly" contrast and brightness could be read by my colorchecker display plus, but I don't necessarily trust it as my understanding is the bandwidth isnt good enough to measure as it's 5nm bandwidth and needs at leas 3nm to read it closer to accurate. Either way, I think the images speak for themselves - the videos are not manipulated in any way - and you can't really "add" detail in video editing anyway!

    Hi Tony. Ive got a Epson tw9300. I think a long time ago you had a tw9400 in your forrnal theatre room aka 5050ub? If so, how would you roughly compare the base picture quality do you reckon, taking things like placement flexibilty out of the equation?
    The impression ive got is that if on a white screen these would not touch the epson for blacks...

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  День назад

      I also had the TW9300 - which was great for what it was, but the brightness was just not there when comparing to something like this - it depends if you are after super deep blacks you would need to get a JVC or something more expensive, but for what it is, check the video and see the video demos - which I think illustrate just how decent it is with the black levels and details in the black areas. The TW9300 while great was not very bright and why I ended up upgrading to the JVC NP5 for my main room.

      @@BuildMontage Many thanks for the reply Tony. As to brightness, yes fair comment. That said I'm using the 2019 auto bright firmware, 1.3 screen, 4.10m throw and the ezcoo Dolby vision tweak with Lamp on medium and projector reviews settings. I'm finding that combo pretty good depending on content. I think if I spent some time with my i1 display pro, could be better still. You've given me food for thought though, yes the jmgo's brightness does leap off the screen and your vids well illustrated that -. so thanks for that!

    Someone needs to make a smaller than a mini cooper projector that has amazing black levels. All these projectors nowadays are touting crazy high 3,000+ lumen output, dolby vision and HDR 10+ or lack there of, but for some reason the black floor is no where near the high end pjs. Even the new benq w5800 suffers from this. Without spending 5k or more and mounting a dinosaur in your room is there anything out there that competes or is the technology just not there yet in a small form factor. We dont want anymore lumens we want deep contrast levels. Even the highest end pjs dont have crazy high lumen output. Its the contrast which brings a projector to life as a real theater experience.

      Epson 9400 has deeper black from all dlp projectros without pay ton of money..In 2500 euros is the king.But i think is in the end of life in stores.
      Dont waiting a dlp projector with crazy black levels.This technology has limits.

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  День назад +1

      The issue is that DLP technology is really the only licensable chip out there from texas instruments, and the single chip dlp 0.47" being the most common, however the more expensive 3 chip design does give better black levels, it's still dlp... JVC and Sony and other higher end brands have developed their own, but maybe there is a reason why they are so big as well... I think that for the size and price of these, you can still achieve a pretty awesome picture. Did you see the video clips I presented in the video? They are not altered in any way, and I think they look great. And yes, I have a JVC NP5 which has insane black levels, so I am being fairly objective with my views.

    • @michaeldee3380
      @michaeldee3380 День назад

      @@BuildMontageIt's a shame they're still using the smaller 0.47" chip. The larger 0.65" chip provides better contrast. The technology has come a long way, but maybe they've hit a wall and increased light output is used as a marketing ploy to lure new customers. Unless there's a way to offer a 3 chip design in a compact form at an affordable price, I can't see single chip projectors outperforming LCD projectors from leading brands such as JVC, Epson and Sony.

    • @BuildMontage
      @BuildMontage  День назад

      @@michaeldee3380 I’m with you. Apparently there is also a native 4K chip in development from Texas Instruments. That will be a game changer!!

    • @vapormodel
      @vapormodel 4 часа назад +1

      @@michaeldee3380 Yeah I think this is what's happening with all of these brands now. They all seem to be increasing lumens and still contrast isn't improving over 2000:1. I just find it hard to believe that to achieve even a 20% better contrast ratio it has to be put into a form factor like a jvc or sony box dimension. I mean color accuracy and light output even from let's say a JMGO N1 Ultra or Hisesne C1 once calibrated are absolutely fantastic but the contrast isn't anywhere near black bars. Maybe this will be figured out in the near future fingers crossed.

      Spoilt for choice. I try to present the model in the best possible way so you can choose which one you like best. I don’t generally do comparisons but if the features sing to you, at this price point I say go for it!!

    Gees Tony, I'm starting to think these days, that the less you spend on a projector, especially something with simplified features, the better! I only wonder though, how detrimental to the picture quality is auto keystone...? Given my recent disappointment with my Benq W4000i, I'm really starting to consider something like this little guy...

      Unfortunately I can't comment on the Pro2 yet. This is definitely a weapon of a projector for the price, and you wouldn't be disappointed with it (no affiliate links with this video - so whether you buy one or not doesn't affect my answer)

      I believe Valerion will shut down all the competition once their kickstarter campaign gets into gear! Search it up. You can save $2000 on MSRP if you join the kickstarter with a $50 deposit plus a refund of $200 and your $50 deposit. On top of that you will get superior picture quality.
