If you barn is 40 mt from the house im impressed your WiFi reaches this far to allow connectivity for the camera. What router are you using ?
😂 Same! My ring doorbell struggles to pick up my router through the front door and hall stairs lol (3m)
Was thinking exactly the same thing... 🤔
Perfectly timed video, I am looking to install cameras but I’m wondering the same thing.
Probably got a 5g WiFi box
I was going to post the same when I seen this, I have Eufy camera and a gig connection and I can't even get a camera around the rear of my house never mind 40m away, it was the one thing never covered. The cameras in general are good and the other thing I can say it has no subscription hence why I chose Eufy over Ring.
From looking thru the comments, I think u need to answer the wi-fi range queries...
Interested to hear how this does midwinter when its battery has frozen a few times and there's only been a minute of daylight to charge it. Please keep us updated, warts and all.
I have the S220 solocam on my Garage. The lowest the battery got was 60% last winter. It is south facing, so that did help.
This solar camera will be dead food in the winter months
I have a few of their cameras (not solar admittedly) and after 2 winters the battery health says 92%.
I have 2 Eufy battery powered cameras with solar panels. One South facing and one West facing. Battery level on the West facing one drops a bit during winter but not enough to have to charge it manually.
My eufy cameras with attached solar panels have been fine for nearly 2 years.
Only have to charge the doorbell every 6 months or so as its running solely on battery
Thanks Stuart, does it work through your home's Wifi? 40 meters is a good range
Would be nice to know, how many hours of sun this needs to be properly charged (at least until the next day). You know, winter coming and all...
Have owned a Eufy solar camera for two years. South facing but Manchester UK weather. It records all sorts including an attempt to try and scan my car keys, an attempted break in and numerous foxes at night. Downloading the files for the police was very easy. In that time I had to take the camera down once every January to manually charge it. Otherwise it happily keeps charging even without full sun. Mine has the spotlight but as there is a streetlight outside I found the picture quality was much better when not using it. When they tried to scan for my keys they were unsuccessful but then stole the car opposite. Even with faces covered, the clothing, trainers, height and build were clear as day. The police knew who it was which led to their arrest and vehicle recovery. I highly recommend these cameras. Incidentally I have two neighbours with Ring doorbells. Both keep forgetting to replace/recharge the batteries. We don’t have that issue.
I've had 3 of these for nearly a year and they are always virtually fully charged. They get OK sun. Unless you are sticking these in a very sheltered / dark area, they will work great.
There's also quite a bit of flexibility in the set up to try and save battery power if required. I went the other way and use more power than standard and mine are always fully charged.
Feckin’ cheek - even ppl over 50? I’m nearly 90 and I build my own computer when I want to update. I’ve been into computers since 1983 and I’m sure loads of other wrinklies like me have as well lol
If you connect the unit to your ‘router’ will it cut half inch round-overs too?
I do hate it when UK based RUclipsrs feel the need to pander to Americans.
Come on then answer question no.1...
Does this camera have a 40m WiFi range???
Mine certainly dont.
Eufy have had privacy issues in the past. They were found to be uploading images to the internet unsecured. Caveat Emptor.
Good advice for camera's:
- Position at least 3m above the ground so they can't be easily accessed, but not so high you can't see peoples faces.
- Wireless camera's can be jammed. Wired is always preferred where practical.
- Don't rely on the SD card local storage on the camera. If it fails you lose all your footage.
- Don't rely on internet only connections, if you're internet goes down, you get no recordings. - Local storage in your house is always preferred, make sure it's out of the way where no-one will see it.
The most important things with security cameras is that you are in control, not the manufacturer.
Do you happen to know if these work if you block Internet access for them? For example set the gateway to something that has no Internet connection etc
@@andypyne No idea, best to google around for info, or go for something like Reolink and get security advice from a competent person.
@@andypyne if mine have no connection to wi-fi I cannot view a live connection via the app, not sure if they still work though but I imagine they would save any alerts on the SIM card that they could be viewed later, you would not get live alerts though
I have reolink cameras and can view my cameras with no Internet, obviously need to be on same local network though. Not sure what the other manufacturers are like.
@@JamesTombs You can use something like Tailscale to connect to them from your phone.
Sorry Stewart but this camera has some very bad reviews on Amazon. I hope yours keeps going but please do share any problems you may have in the future. As usual a very well put together video.
'Rowter'? I do believe we pronounce it 'rooter' in Blighty dear chap! That's quite a bit of dosh for a single camera, I paid £30 for mine which does more or less (ok quite a bit less) than this one but is obviously hard wired instead.
Thanks for the “even people above fifty can do it “ 😂
I'm 44 andfeel seen.
😅
We now know that Stuart actually just walks about talking to himself regardless of whether he is filming or not. Just so happens some of it makes it to youtube…
Too many awful reviews on Amazon for me to consider buying it.
Stuart,
The barn is a distance away from your house, and likely your wifi network.
Do you have wifi at the barn, or does the camera work on 4G / 5G?
Beware: The AI detection is very sketchy on this camera. Even if you purchase their "HomeBase," it still confuses humans and other objects.
Nowsaday most of the intruders caught on cctv had caps and face masks on, and the video footages usually took from high angle resulting from high location of the cameras. So the main purpose of having them is to provide evidence to insurance company ?
Let’s hope this is better than the boundary alarm system you recommended, as that was unstable & now no longer supported as the company has folded 😕
Nice video. Although I wouldn't purchase any Eufy cameras given their poor record of privacy. 🇨🇳
Can you also look at where the video is stored, there was some controversy over privacy (videos stored on Anker servers on AWS and not deleted after deleting accounts) causing LTT to drop Anker as a sponsor.
Personally i would prefer a self contained solution that does send data anywhere, but, alas everyone wants your data these days and everything has to connect back to the manufacturer for no real reason.
Video is stored on the camera, If you integrate it with a Home Base 3, the video is on the Home Base Hard Drive.
No mention in the video about how the camera established a wifi connection 40m away from the house
Who said it needs Wi-Fi.? It’s solar powered.
@@eryrys Correct, it's solar powered, now could you explain how the camera would notify him of someone entering it's view without being connected online?
@@eryrys May be best to understand what you're talking about before posting.

As always great video, Looks like a good product . I’m always sceptical about wireless surveillance tech, who else is monitoring your movements 🤔. How well will the power system last🤷🏽. 👍🏻
How the WiFi reception that far from the house?
Non-existent without an extender of some sort (ethernet/mesh or similar). Doesn't mention that, obviously, because this is nothing more than a sponsored ad, not a real review.
Thanks Stuart, this looks like a great little unit, I like the fact that it is no subscription too !
PS. We're very proud of you too ! 😉
Not good reviews for this camera,I would avoid it,better ones out there.
Exactly 🤙
such as....
What’s to stop the camera being lifted off its mount by someone with bad intentions.
Nothing.
You might actually have a video of the culprit that you could upload to face book so to Name and Shame.
Nothing, camera's should be installed at least 3m off the ground to minimise this risk.
As others said nothing really. However, my eufy camera is an older model than this and it has a built in alarm which goes off if someone tries to take the camera down. It's fairly loud on mine which I noticed when I forgot to turn "theft detection" off before I took it down for charging. I'm guessing as a newer model, this one would also have that feature
Really a lot of BS camera is useless without a Wi-Fi. That’s the problem we all have.
The camera looks expensive!...looks like something that might get nicked..
How depressing that there is such a need for these things.

Looks good if you have a spare £250 knocking about
£139.00 from Eufy
I have been using Eufi for 5 years, the camera battery is good their software is bad, every update it gets worse. The motion detection got worse and the camera has been in the same place for five years. I would suggest a wired solution whenever possible. This newer model looks better but I don't trust the brand anymore
That's an interesting comment as I was impressed by Stuart's review, thanks for posting
What you say corresponds with the Amazon reviews.
40m away and you can still connect to WiFi? Please explain as I have one on the outside of my house which initially struggled to connect to my router (the previous cheaper camera I had, didn’t have a problem). I had to get a WiFi extender in the adjacent room just to give it that extra boost. If I can position mine away from the house, it will be a game changer. As always, great content.
All these wireless cameras and doorbells have awful wifi reception. The camera in this video is no different and you would deffo need a mesh system, extender etc for it to work, and the end signal needs to be strong and very close to the camera for reliable video.
Just a heads up, wifi cameras can be easily disabled remotely with wifi jammers. Ethernet cameras that upload to remote storage via wired internet is what you want for optimal surveillance. Or that upload to a locked up computer in your house.
Remote storage requires an internet connection. Always better to store locally in your house, if the internet goes down you don't lose footage.
Clip on!.....at £179 (ebay) it is easily nickable! I'd have to make a more secure fitting.
I've got 3 of these cameras and they are awesome. I used to have ring floodlight cameras and converted over at the beginning of the year. They have worked flawlessly and are always fully charged from the solar panel.
The only downside if it is one is that when using the 3 x zoom lens, the camera has to be mounted at at least 3m + off the ground otherwise it cant see very high at a distance.
I also have a home base 3 for recording away from the camera (Without, if a thief stole your camera the footage would go with it).
Within the Eufy family, only the Home base 3 or later work with these cameras so don't get drawn into one of the regular Home Hub 2 deals that come with other cameras. If you add these to your setup they wont integrate.
There is also a 4g version that takes a sim card for remote areas with no wifi.
Have you not got electricity in your barn lol😂
Be careful about endorsements, especially 'Which?', which is just another mechanism for marketing. There are obvious downsides to solar power, especially when it comes to security, and also you have to consider WiFi range.
I love your channel but be careful. I have a Eufy camera in my kitchen so I can see my dogs and it's pretty decent, so I'm not equating this to some other shite that people flog; but there's a distinctly different feeling when a video is clearly an ad.
#1 rule of installing anything : Never, ever read the instructions.
Its a "man" thing to not read the instructions, so my wife tells me. I wish I read her instructions before married her.
I have a similar PTZ camera which operates by 4G sim cards. It mean I can put it anywhere and see what's going on. In fact it's on my boat right now and it's powered by solar. Great Tech
Terrific video as usual, very helpful, very informative many thanks. And a superb product too. So pleased you took up the companies offer.
I like the solar so power not needed, but I assume you still need to be in range of your internet hub or router? So a bit limited on how far out you can go.
I have a log cabin at the bottom of a long garden, and I use a pair of Ubiquiti nano stations (less than £50 each) to act as a wireless bridge between house and cabin. They are external access points, easy enough to set up and I get enough bandwidth to work on computers in the cabin. Bonus is that the whole garden now has wifi access.
@@Clockwork_PlanetHow do you power the ubiquiti kit?
@@nialstewart8263 I have power run in armoured cable to the cabin -- I need it to run it as an office. The wireless bridge saves me from having to run a data cable. The distance is too far for ethernet, so I'd need a repeater or I'd need to run fibre. The wireless bridge was way cheaper and simpler than either of those options.
Good review Stuart. I’d welcome your thought on the solar charging in darker months and also did you check out the range capacity that it picks up your WiFi? Cheers 👍
Hi Stuart, since the camera is able to be charged from a USB power supply therefore can it be wired permanently to such a supply and do without the solar panel? I have a North facing aspect in front of my garage I wish to survey, no problem fixing to the wall but an over hang is going to shade the solar panel and even using the extension lead is going to be problematic to get it to face South.
If your router is inside your house and probably at ground floor level there is no way you are getting a reliable connection from outside in your own words 40 meters away. I’d like you to show in the app the WiFi signal strength the camera is actually getting and explain properly how it is connected please.
Hi. Great security cameras. How much is this system please? Would like to invest in one of these. Great video's, by the way. 👍
Had Eufy for years. Best cameras out there. No subscription.
Very good point. But would that be, yet?
@@ianmarsden8568 You can take out a subscription if you want to store your stuff in the " Cloud " but it's unneccessary. The camera has 8Gb of internal storage and you can save footage over your local WIFI to your Laptop or Phone. You can also bulk delete clips ( I have my eufy cameras repurposed as wildlife cameras around the garden, lots of hedgehog / cat / fox activity ) If the internal memory gets full then it starts to rewrite over the oldest footage.
I binned al my Blink stuff which had crap WiFi and required a subscription to make it antwhere near useful. The Eufy footage is 2k, head and shoulders above the Blink stuff.
@@ianmarsden8568 couldn’t you say that about Everything
Does no one do proper research any more. Oh dear.
Fine if your ok with your feed to go via China
I think we’re getting a little obsessed with home security 🙄 maybe it’s a boomer thing. We managed fine without for so long.
The problem with any wireless system is of course they are easily frequency jammed.
With are uk weather am not sure it will work all year round as my garden lights have stop altogether I wish you well....
We have there door bell cam , works perfectly, and no subscription . Live view and recording. You can also talk to your visitor.
what brand, model ?🤔
Same make as the one in the video
Perhaps I missed it but did you mention storage? Local and cloud?
Wonder if this camera would work in Scotland where we dont have regular sun.
Looks really great and not too expensive. Great presentation from you.
Can this be hardwired for power.
no you need a different camera as this is solar only
Love your channel BUT this isn't a review, it is an ADVERT. It feels like you have been given a script of key points you have to mention in the "review". This isn't not an honest review you viewers have come to expect. And you usually get the price in at the beginning of your reviews, I bet on this one the cost comes right at the end.
Last time I listened to one of your reviews I spent £500 on a Boundary alarm system that worked for a few weeks before the company closed down. Leaving me out of pocket and without a functioning alarm to protect my family. You didn't mention one bad thing about this camera so this was clearly another biased product endorsement.
That’s unlucky but how would any reviewer know a company is about to go out of business, hardly a DIY guys fault if the company decides to shut their doors.
Tbf it’s not his fault the company went bust and eufy are a big firm we have used there robot hoovers and there really good.
Every episode is blatant endorsement

Used Eufy for years and it's been very reliable.

My Mum lives alone now in Spain and i was looking for a camera and this one seems to hit the spot, a little bit more research on my behalf and will be taken this one over with me in November..
It's not very good, by a lot of accounts. There's much better options, but they will cost more money and ideally be wired in, if you want it to work properly and not be a pain in the bum.
Bought the eufy Security Video Doorbell Wireless 2K (Battery-Powered) with Chime costing £99! In my opinion absolute rubbish. Takes to long to log in and the lag on it is even worst. Lags in live view by a lifetime, you can hear the car go past and out of view before it even shows up on your phone!! I have also bought and are using Security cameras which cost £39 and you can log in quick and the live view is lighten fast like the notifications, compared to the eufy Security Video Doorbell Wireless 2K. I should bought more of the £39 cameras and chunked the eufy Security Video Doorbell camera in the Bin!!
Quality on a non subscription is good
Right so I was assuming that this would be quite useless if out of range of wifi... However, if it has onboard storage, surely you can hook it up to your phone (acting as a tether) to download? Obviously you may not be able to connect to it live...
It doesn’t need Wi-Fi it’s solar powered..
@@eryrys What does the data connection have to do with the power supply?

40 metres?? My Blink camera loses the router signal after about 5 metres, even if I put the router on the window ledge nearest the camera, so the only obstacle is the double glazing! 😂
Great idea with the solar etc. But picture quality seems awful and jerky. Used Eufy cams before, you get what you pay for(cheap and cheerful), tho their systems was compromised few years back and people could see other people’s cameras in their app. Ditched them right away and went with UniFi 👌
Hope its on a separate vlan
I wonder if it will work at all locally if you give it a gateway that'll stop it going out to the Internet for example......🤔
@@andypyne It probably needs to call home to work, or at least the base station will. This mainstream garbage should come with a security warning about your data.
Hi stuart. Could this camera be plugged in and used with the charger permanently connected?
Thanks for the info Stuart. I'm looking for a security solution ( CCTV ) for my property, and this item will certainly be added to my remote shed .
Great review and looks like a very good piece of kit, would you think, it be okay to use higher up than the 2-3 meters. like something higher on a facia board approx. 6-7 mts. Thanks
It would be interesting to see how such a tiny solar panel performs over winter when sunlight is in short supply.. I have a 300W solar panel on garage roof which charges 100Ah car battery. I used to power my cam from this setup which worked fine until December when the battery ran down and had to be manually charged once per week. I have since updated to power over ethernet.
The camera only uses 2-4Watts (depending on IR illumination) but displays live video - so more energy than one that triggers on events like here.
I’m sold. I’ve got a Ring camera. Gave up on the door bell because the internet wifi wasn’t up to it, and had to keep resetting. Customer care useless. Remaining camera is out of reach of passing idiots by necessity but is a ladder job to remove, recharge and replace battery. Monthly payment scheme tried for trial period but not worth the cost. Hoping for better with the Eufy.
For everybody with range questions, i do have a bit of info and personal experience.
I have both a Eufy doorbell cam and a solar cam in my back garden an i have installed a solar cam at my mother in laws.
the WiFi connection isn't the best in all honesty. i would highly recommend a WiFi extender close to where the camera is fitted.
my router is upstairs and until i got a WiFi extender for downstairs the connection was terrible. at the mother in laws, her connection isn't the best and her router is about 8 meters away from the camera, going through a few walls.. alerts and live view can be delayed, which kind of defeats the point. otherwise, i'm happy with my cameras and think they are worth the fairly low price.
The plastic mounting bracket gives me some concern. Is it not affected by UV light and temperature?
What IP rating is the camera and the cable connection?
A really thought through bit of kit BUT why do they skimp on screws? It happens time and again.
Looks great! How reliable is it connected to your home router? I get very little signal outside the house due I think to the amount of foil backed insulation we have (new build), so the signal may be problematic?
I have the Eufy system with 2 cams, 1 front 1 back. They are are as good as you say they are. However, I have the app on my phone and there is a problem with the turn on/off feature. I work out the back and I don't want it going off all the time. It takes 2 to 3 goes to turn it off, then trying to turn it on again can take a while. Can you have a word with them about this as I had no luck here. Here is in Australia. Thank you
Stuart as an after thought do you think that the camera could benefit by being further protected from high winds? I do not mean by boxing the sides in fully I am just wondering if that plastic snap mount is strong enough in high winds? I mean the mount that the camera snaps into with a click. Just wondering if that camera supporting arm could snap under a high wind load? I am sure it has a wind speed rating already.
People over 50 aint past it! Some of us develop console / computer games for a living!!
Now that is a very good device.... i can see your video sparking a rush of people purchasing one or two
Excellent. I have a four-camera Eufy setup at home and have to say their kit is excellent.
Looks like a good alternative to the subscription based Ring models. I have set the solar versions of them up at my mother-in-laws house, front and back. These seem like a better option, and priced about the same.
I have 2 Eufy cameras and a doorbell and they all work seamlessly with the home hub, great kit is Eufy.
Got a number of Eufy devices around the house including a doorbell and separate cameras. The phone app handles multiple cameras. Plus you can give access to other people so family and friends can view the footage.
Looks like a good bit of kit hopefully the price is good too.

will be nice to see how it copes with the winter days and lack of sunshine,.i have a eufy doorbell and would maybe one day like to get some security cams.
Nice device. Thanks for the well explained demonstration. Will certainly look into this. Ta x
I have 2 internal and 2 external eufy cameras, all mains operated though. Been really pleased with them and app is brilliant to use.
I did a load of research and ended up going for a eufy system too and it does just work as you say. I haven’t got solar so just have to take the cameras down every few months to charge but you can buy a solar panel as a standalone attachment which I might do in the future. You can also buy additional cameras as and when you like and connect them too.
My internet wouldn't even reach 10 metres. It's a pity as it looks like a great device.
This video came along at an uncannily opportune time. Thanks Stuart!
