This was me a few months ago. I prayed to God to change my mindset about debt/hoarding and materialism. The things I used to care about fashion wise and cosmetics wise are meaningless to me now. I just try to be happy with myself and I have so much peace! 😊
Don't EVER put any negative tone to materialism. It's about an appreciation for art. Handbags are a form of art. You can look without buying. Chanel is a perfect example of art.
@@lelexoxo303 I’m just here to say I agree, I don’t think materialism is a good thing. I think art is not materialism. The Mona Lisa is art. A purse is not.
I love you channel Eileen, after watching so many unboxing and shopping haul on RUclips I felt like I need to keep up with them! I feel so lucky that I found your Channel which gives me peace. I used to me a minimal luxurious person but other channels changed me to shopaholic and now I am converting back to my old self. I feel so much better that there is actually minimal luxurious people out there like me. Please keep up with the good work!!!
Such deja vu feelings especially on "I will make it work", "saving money by shopping now"! 😂 "I can make it work," was the ultimate killer lie for me. Had 2 Chanel, 2 Gucci, 1 Salvatore Ferragamo & 1 Prada bags from my previous purchase which aint my style & lifestyle. I kept telling myself I will have opportunity to use them in the future but eventually they just sat on my closet collecting dust for 3-4 yrs. And ... I have finally bite the bullet & decluttered my bags from 20+ bags to 10 & 15+ slg to 6!!! Retaining those that really suit me & my lifestyle. And yes Eileen "I can sell later" though is true but it is truly a very painful experience. I suffered 70% loss on slg ie wallets (bifold & long) from Prada, Chanel, Burberry & Gucci & 50% loss on Chanel, Gucci, S.Ferragamo & Prada shoulder bags. The only blessings is that I managed get cashback instead of consignment & that I have cut my losses earlier than later. I might further adjust as I realised I have mostly shoulder bags & might sell 1 to replace with a crossbody or a more versatile piece. Perhaps some could argue that classic pieces could earn a profit or sell at small a loss, but these items will have to be in pristine/like new condition. Well, firstly I hope to enjoy my bags not baby them, secondly I don't have the intention of reselling them when I initially purchased them. Anyway in short, lesson learnt & not let history repeat. I do feel relief after decluttering though heart pain, sweet bitter feeling 🙏🏻😂
Perfect explanation of an investment “piece” which should be a classic piece. Something that may be costly but will be a “valuable” part of wardrobe for years to come ☺️
You have such a sensible approach to consumerism! And your delivery is very humble and kind. I really enjoy your videos and find them very helpful in reforming my shopping habits.
I think most people who doesn’t have it like to keep up with the Jones, like I used to be. I remember when I didn’t have the means I was buying too many luxury handbags and shoes. I have no idea what I was thinking, very irresponsible of me. I’m currently in a better position and I can easily spend 15k on a luxury item on a spot, but I have no desire for things anymore. I’m truly enjoying my curated pieces and I really don’t want anything to else.
You are speaking truth. For me, it got to the point where I lived in shame and guilt. I wouldn't wear any of the pieces because I didn't want to hear any comments or have attention brought unto to me. It wasn't about not being able to afford it. It was more about the embarrassment of living in excess. Have way more than I needed. And you are so right, I've been thinking about how my past decisions have affected my future. I choose wisdom over believing the lies. As always, thank you for your video. We need to hear the truth.
I don't think her video is about education. She may feel guilty for investing in thousands of dollars worth of handbags for investments, but this is NOT what is expected. You invest in what you LOVE and want to USE, FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Chanel and Hermes is a great choice, but you can't guarantee an investment!!!
Great point Eileen. But for most of us it's easy to agree & to talk about minimizing luxury; but in reality it is difficult, in other words luxury could be an addiction. And the luxury is an investment idea is very toxic.
Thank you Eileen for another great video ♥️. The thought “this is the last bag I’ll buy because it’s THE bag I’ve been looking for” is just a lie we tell ourselves - I’ve been there many times! And always wanting another perfect bag afterwards. How can that be possible…? Maybe because these bags are just there to momentarily cover something deeper (lack of self-esteem, need for approval, boredom, emptiness…). It’s so difficult to understand the real reasons why we impulsively shop, apart from marketing and the social media. I’m starting a no-buy year now, and really hope to stick to only those purchases that belong to the “I need this” category - no more “I want this” for a while… Have a lovely week! 😘♥️
I just completed my first year of no buy and I must say, it opened my eyes to a lot. Materialism is a soul disease indeed. One can stay detached to these is free indeed. I’m not interested in luxury items, I’d rather spend the money elsewhere. You should try it, it’s really enlightening. I’ve discovered people buy out of boredom sometimes.
@@Lindygracie totally agree! One non shopping month already (from non necessary stuff) and I feel so encouraged to keep going! Thanks for sharing your experience 💕
Excellent excellent video. Unfortunately I can identify with all the points you made. Especially the “FO MO” and “this is the last thing I’ll buy”! I have two Chanel bags I wish I’d never bought, and now I don’t know what to do with them. I don’t really buy high luxury bags anymore, I have a nice collection that I’m pretty happy with. I definitely think twice, even thrice, before buying an expensive item. Many times now I pass on buying it. This is a very educational video that every woman out there should watch!
I have been there with the this is the last purchase I will make for a while mentality. It was a lie and I see that now. I now have the one in one out bag policy and it is tough but makes me think harder before a purchase because I would have to let go of an item. Love the sound of your soothing voice. ♥️
